Had a great overnight at this friendly hotel. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating. From the owner/chef who fed chicken to our dogs on arrival to the reception and restaurant staff. Dropping to minus 5 it was a cold day but the hotel and rooms were lovely and toasty. The lounge with a roaring fire. The food was great as... More

This was our second visit here and the food and service was extremely good. The meats are fresh and succulent and the vegetables well cooked with a wide variety. The staff very efficient. This time the puddings were better than before as they were not sloppy as our previous experience.

Booked at the last minute, somewhere that allows dogs in. They were so much better than expected. Very welcoming to the dogs, no rules or conditions.Rooms were comfortable and warm, and the bed was huge. We had a very good meal and a few drinks in the bar with the dogs. Would stay again for sure!

Met family here for the carvery, staff were friendly and helpful, the food was okay, service suffered a bit when it got really busy , but definitely worth a visit, food was all fresh and the deserts were sickingly nice.

Stayed for two nights and wished had been longer.....yes the hotel is a little tired but bedroom and bathroom extremely clean, it had everything we needed for a two night stay, comfy, clean beds, tv, well stocked hospitality tray, bath, shower, fresh, clean towels. All the staff we came into contact with were local, friendly, accommodating, especially receptionist on welcome... More

Stayed here this weekend. Friendly welcome and shown personally to our room. I'm sorry but we booked a 'superior' room and I would hate to have seen a room which was "inferior" to this one. Felt like we had walked through the door Ito 1976! Clean, I grant you, but dated, shabby, mismatched furniture and just down right depressing! Not... More

I'm a solo motorbike travelel and I visited Castletown hotel on the 28th of September on my way to the Northernmost Point of Mainland. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The lady gave me a quick guide around the place and we ended up having a 30 min chat about living conditions in the North. The hotel itself... More

Was recommended by a colleague to visit Castletown Hotel on steak night and that I would not be disappointed. To say myself and my friends struggled with the portions is an understatement. The steak was superb and done to perfection. The staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This visit was only for the meal therefore... More

We stayed here prior to taking the ferry to Stromness. I read previous reviews which seemed predominantly positive. Unfortunately the reality did not match up. We had booked a Superior room, however that is not a word I would use to describe our accommodation for the night. It was very average and rather dated and sad looking. When we tried... More
