My fiance and I arrived for a 2 night stay whilst visiting family. The room was clean but very small as we had to set our cases on top of each other, we got very little sleep as I can only describe what seemed like water pipes right beside our bedroom which kept vibrating in the night, we also found... Wife and I spent the night there between being in Newport and proceeding further north. The accommodations here were excellent; the owners' prior experience in hospitality was evident in the attention to detail and the care they took to make us comfortable. Easy access to town and to sites. Highly recommended!

We stayed with Barbara & John for three nights in September. They were excellent, attentive hosts and the room was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was first class - full Irish, smoked salmon with eggs. We cannot fault this superb B & B and at 35 Euros PPPN it was good value

We stayed at The Whins for three nights early in August. Barbara and John were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome in their beautiful home. Breakfast, served in the very comfortable dining room, was fantastic, I recommend the perfectly cooked scrambled egg with salmon. Tea coffee and biscuits left out for guests in the sitting room was very... More

I visited Dunfanaghy in July 2015 towards the middle of a lengthy trip around Ireland. Horn Head and Tramore Strand are both accessible by foot from the town, itself a lively and attractive place. My visit was made even more enjoyable by my stay at The Whins. The owners, John and Barbara, couldn’t have been more welcoming, helpful, and friendly.... More

We really enjoyed our all-too-brief two night stay in Dunfanaghy at the Whins. Our hosts were super friendly and offered us tea and biscuits upon our evening arrival after a long day on the road from the Antrim coast. Breakfast is served in a lovely sitting room with a large window overlooking the golf course across the road and out... More

Just came back from an absolutely lovely stay at The Whins. The bedroom was tasteful and spotless, the breakfast was amazing (lovely choices) and Barbara and John are two of the most helpful and loveliest people you will ever meet. It was literally a 5 minute walk to Dunfanaghy and we had the best sleep in our comfortable bed. They... More

I was lucky to stay at the Whins for 5 nights. The hosts were fantastic, and helpful, just really lovely people. The room was big, very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing. And the location was only a short, easy walk into Dunfanaghy town centre and a quick stroll across from the golf course and Killyhoey Beach. I would... More

A great location in a really beautiful part of the world. By far the best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B, the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs are a great way to start anyone's day. The Whins are located close to a magnificent beach, so there isn't much missing here. The rooms are comfortable, big and well appointed.

Beautiful B&B overlooking the golf course which overlooks the sea. Pretty town on the scenic northern coast of County Donegal and this place is a short walk from it. New owners John and Barbara couldn't have been nicer. Great breakfast. Would highly recommend.

“The owners recommended a "diner" in town, which was more of a sit-down restaurant with a B.Y.O.B. policy. Extremely good and quite reasonable. Ask them for the name.”
