I was celebrating a milestone birthday this weekend and booked to stay in Gregan's Castle Hotel Saturday night and to dine there as well (availing of their set, tasting menu). Firstly the setting of this hotel is glorious with wonderful views of the Burren. On arrival we were shown to our room and were stunned to find that we had...

We stayed at the Castle in early October during our trip to Ireland. Gregan's castle hotel is located in the country about 10 minutes from the small town of Ballyvaughan. We arrived on Sunday afternoon. We stayed in the Fuchsia room which had a view of the meadow. The room was fantastic! It was huge, had very high, maybe 15...

My stay at Gregans was a lovely experience. I had decided to adopt a "don't cheat yourself, treat yo self" mentality as part of my stay which certainly aided in my enjoyment. The grounds are truly beautiful, and the food was all delicious (do the 8 course tasting menu, for sure)! Another big plus was the incredible massage the hotel...

We stayed in the Galway Bay suite, which was spacious and nice. Breakfasts were very nice, and service was incredible. Especially Ben, who ranged from Bell Man to Waiter, always with an incredible smile on his face! We did not dine at Gregan's, other than breakfast, because we just didn't want that much food... but we heard it is incredible....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.
