With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.

Took two week tour of Ireland, and Gregans Castle was, by far, the best accomodation we had for the whole trip. My sister, who traveled with us, said she could have stayed there the whole trip. Especially enjoyed the peat fire place in the hotel lounge. Very relaking and specia

My wife and I stayed at Gregans for our wedding anniversary. Beautiful suite on the edge of the hotel, location of the hotel is superb on the edge of the Burren and the food was amazing. We had the 9 course tasting menu - rare to get the majority of those courses working for both

We spent two nights here and had a very relaxing time ...
It is a very different destination for the niche traveller who loves comfortable old world surroundings echoing a bygone era. Set in the Burren and it too is a very special place. The hotel is really well placed to explor

Could you please let me know whether the ram shown in a common area of Gregans Castle Hotel is (1) a decorative piece fashioned by an artist, using inanimate materials, or (2) a taxidermy piece (hunter's trophy)? I realize that is an unusual question, but I am asking due a specific interest of our travel party. Thank you.

What is the dress code for the dinning room. Not a trip i especially want to bring a tie and dress coat. Also, are the surrounding grounds / country road a place we could take a 30 minute early morning walk after breakfast without having to get in the car? Thank you! Tom and Mary Duddy (Honolulu)
As per above wear what you're comfortable in - the staff will make you comfortable in any regard. Grounds are lovely but for a long stretch head for the flaggy shore or the green road or lots of nearby walking trails but possibly best after breakfast as need to drive to start point. Have a lovely stay - we always do

We are driving from Dingle up the coast, stopping at the Cliff of Moher. We are looking for a place to spend the night before driving back to Dublin via N6. I was wondering if your establishment would be a convenient place to stop. Thanks for your help.
Absolutely. We are only 45 minutes from the M6 motorway to Dublin so very convenient. While staying here you can visit the Cliffs of Moher (only 20 minutes away) and see the Burren. Let me know if you have any further questions. Simon
