This is a fine building in a lovely location south of Dublin. The bedrooms are high ceilinged and comfortable. As always, I found the duvet too warm!
Service is excellent but food quality is not quite up to the standard you'd expect for location and price, for example my fillet steak was not as tender as should have been and was served medium rather than medium rare as ordered. Hot breakfast buffet was tired - although I was offered something freshly cooked.
I've stayed twice and would stay again despite the caveats above.

The hotel it a beautiful castle structure with a warm inviting lobby with two fireplaces. This time of year, the decorations for Christmas were in full bloom, with trees, garland and ornaments scattered throughout the common areas. The location to the small quaint town of Dalkey is fabulous, and an easy walk up and down the hill to reach pubs and restaurants. It really gives you the cozy feeling of Ireland. Sadly, I was disappointed in my room. Having stayed for a wedding, I was able to see a number of other guest’s accommodations, which had a small balcony and overlooked the sea. Another was an interior room, but it did not look out to another rooftop of the hotel. Since the windows were locked, it made it very hard to cool off the room, making for unpleasant sleeping conditions. If I go back, I will ask for an external room, even if it costs a bit extra.

2 of us stayed here in Feb for 2 nights. We booked a seaview room on the top floor with a balcony and highly recommend you doing the same as the views are fabulous, during the day and at night, even in cold February! And we got a reasonable rate for same. We love this hotel. It's in such a lovely neighbourhood with Dalkey village, the Dalkey Dart station and the Killiney Obelisk walk only a short walk away and Killiney beach is nearby too. The views from the Obelisk are beautiful! We didn't dine in the hotel for dinner so cant comment on their restaurant but there are several really nice restaurants in nearby Dalkey such as the 1909 Restaurant and Wine Bar. We didn't get to use the pool on this occasion but it is an added bonus if you can get to use it. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable and our bathroom was spacious and clean too. Our stay included breakfast which we really enjoyed on the Sunday morning which was a buffet style and there was plenty on offer. However, on the Monday morning it wasn't the buffet style which was slightly disappointing as there was less available but we were still charged the same as the previous morning. This was the only negative during our stay. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel and we look forward to staying here again for sure. Book your stay now!

Wow, I don't even know how to start. I brought my now fiancée to the Castle for the special occasion of getting engaged. It was a surprise for her, and I booked one of the Castle suites. The experience was amazing. Everything. The check-in was very quick, we didn't have to wait. People in reception have it very well organized in terms of COVID, so they do a great job in minimizing the contacts. When we went to our Castle suite, a very nice guy from reception helped us reach our room. The Castle suite 108 was huge, really. It had a sitting-room where the staff left us some chocolates, a welcome card and a bottle of water. Very comfortable sofas and chairs everywhere. The room was fantastic, it was like being in a movie. Bed was huge and the room was very spacious. Since it's one of the Castle suites, it's got a Victorian style, so the furnishing and everything is antique. The ceiling lamp was simply amazing, it was like a palace. Big frames and pictures everywhere as well. The bathroom was really good too, with a shower and a very large bath tube, which was perfect to enjoy and relax.

So, excellent experience. We really enjoyed our dinner & breakfast in the PJ's. We would like to thank the chefs and the waiters/waitresses for the service. The food was amazing and the service was spectacular. Thanks very much to ALL the staff for letting us live such a great experience in your Castle, we really enjoyed our special occasion.

On initial booking of this hotel I requested a sea view room which I was told we couldn’t have due to health and safety issues ( I had my 6 year old daughter with me)
Therefore we had to book a family room for x2 adults and 1 child priced at €194 b&b per night.
We were there for x2 nights
Checkin was quick and efficient
Our room as with most of hotel common areas was very dated and badly in need of updating
The view was terrible and the room was very dark and dull because of this.
We ate in mapas the first night which was excellent and staff were so nice and friendly especially management which were clearly visible a lot.
Portions sizes and quality of food was excellent.
The gym and pool offer excellent facilities but I did have these pre booked well in advance which I’d advise anybody thinking of staying.
Breakfast on our first morning was excellent and our order was taken by a lovely elderly gentleman who I presume has been there years. He knew exactly how to work the room.
Breakfast ingredients were excellent especially the butchers sausage and pudding.
On the second evening we ate in the lounge which finishes service at 5.30.
Food was good but not as nice as Mapas and very limited choice especially when it came to dessert.
There was an option to eat downstairs in the bar off the restaurant but the options here were mainly big platters which didn’t appeal to my elderly mother.

We did have some mojotos cocktails here which were excellent but at €11 each a wee bit steep. The young bar man that served us was excellent and very nice and friendly and excellent at his job.

The second morning breakfast wasn’t as good as first. We had to wait ages for our pre booked table along with others. I totally understand this as we are in a pandemic. The lady who was over table allocation was very flustered and rude if I’m honest. I understand she was under pressure. We eventually were shown to a table in the corner which I had to continually ask for juice our order to be taken etc.

Overall our experience was an ok one.
Food was good as was most of the staff.
The rooms were very dated and dull.
I wouldn’t return to stay here but I’d definitely eat here again

Good location and hotel generally appears to have good amenities but for the price point being charged, service is extremely poor and staff rushed. Room service and in room dining was encouraged due to Covid but had to ring twice for a room service menu which was eventually delivered after an hour and a half. An order placed then never arrived and ended up ordering a takeaway from justeat.

Enjoyed a fabulous night away for a friends 30th birthday. We didn't want a party night but wanted somewhere with a bit of atmosphere so this was perfect. The staff were exceptional and all went out of their way to make the birthday girl feel special. There was 3 of us so we got a family room and it was massive with plenty of space for us to chill in. The food in Mapas restaurant and breakfast was very good. Would definitely recommend. Location is great if you have a car but would cost a lot on taxi's if you wanted to travel anywhere

What a Wonderful Place to Get Married
In October 2020, amidst all the Covid regulations, my husband Liam and I got married in Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel. To say that we were looked after and treated well is an understatement. Chelsea was our personal wedding planner in the hotel and she was available at any time to answer questions, give guidance and show us what our day would look like in the hotel.
Due to Covid, we had to make certain changes to our wedding- changing guest numbers and changing to a different ballroom. Chelsea and the staff altered everything with ease. We really enjoyed the months before the wedding. We would come in and discuss it all with Chelsea and the staff and be treated to lattes and cappuccinos in the afternoon tea area while doing so.
A few days before the wedding and on the wedding day itself, Chelsea and the wonderful staff would collect bits and pieces and organise where to decorate or put them. They would converse with our music entertainment for the night and other providers without any need for us to get involved. Our extra flowers were delivered and placed around the room beautifully. I even decided at the last minute to have pumpkins and the staff laid them out in an arrangement without any bother.
On the actual day of our wedding, our guests didn’t stop commenting on the incredible service of the staff. There wasn’t one moment where we had to even think about a decision to make on the day. Everything was done for us. The table service were so polite and friendly and the food was incredible. It felt so luxurious. When we were saying the speeches, the staff were super helpful.
The Bridal Suite was so beautiful and comfortable and luxurious. The next morning, Chelsea had organised a special place for us to have breakfast as a whole group. This was a lovely touch and end to a wonderful day. And even when we decided the second night that we were slightly too hungover to trek home, the hotel had no problem giving us the Bridal Suite again at a discounted price with the fabulous help from a manager called Sztmari.

We couldn’t have asked for better service and assistance during our wedding. I’d say even acquiring an extra wedding planner wouldn’t have had the same personal touch and care that Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel and Chelsea gave us for our Wedding. We would highly recommend staying here and having your wedding here.
We’ll always have a lot of love for this excellent hotel.

I took my boyfriend here as it was his fourth year in Ireland and we wanted to have a few drinks, not drive and a little treat for us!
We were blown away by our suite room, stunning high ceilings, art on the wall a reception area with sofa Christmas tree and fireplace. We had a beautiful bedroom and bathroom was equipt with a bathtub, his and her sinks and a rain shower. So impressive. The restaurant even though the menu was small what they did they did well. Couldn’t fault it friendly staff and lovely ambience.

Good points:

Location in nice part of Dublin
Friendly staff
Spacious room

Bad points:

Pool was closed and has been closed for an extended period. Kids very disappointed and hotel not at all apologetic. The hotel is currently advertised as with a pool on Expedia (where we booked) despite it still being closed
Rooms are tired. A lot of the furniture is dated and bashed, wallpaper peeling etc - in need of a renovation.
Room wasn't turned down each day. Usually I expect the maids will come and turns down the bed, replenish coffee etc during the day. This service didnt happen.

Overall I didn't feel my stay was good value for money and, despite being very pleasant and friendly, the customer service was poor.

Dear garethj996 Once again I am very sorry that our pool was closed due to an unforeseen maintenance issue and that you were not made aware of this before you arrived to hotel, we had advised Expedia that our pool was closed and I am sorry this was not passed onto you. We were only servicing rooms on request, this was as a result of Covid and guests not wanting us to enter their bedrooms, thankfully as all restrictions have now been lifted we have re-introduce servicing rooms daily. Thank you for your positive comments about our staff and family rooms Kind regards Sandra Jackson Senior Executive Manager

We took it to the airport it cost $35 and you make the arrangements at the front desk. I will caution you to make sure you leave yourself PLENTY of time at the airport, you will need to arrive “at least” 3 hrs ahead. The bus makes stops along the way so factor that in!!

They do supply washcloth and towels, also soap and shampoo. I have been there 5 times by now and love it. The staff is very helpful. You can also order pancakes for breakfast, which my grandchildren loved, when they each spend a night at the hotel with me. My daughter lives in Dalkey, but has limited space in her house, so I stay at the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel each time. I also enjoyed their indoor pool before the pandemic. Coming from the USA you do need to have adapter plugs for Ireland. There is no outlet in the bathroom, so I had to charge my electric toothbrush in the room. Since I washed my hair after swimming, I used their hairdryers in the pool area. There is a bus that goes from the airport and stops at the hotel. I am jot sure, but it seemed to me that the bus was going every hour. Most days the breakfast room opens at 7:00AM, but they had offered me room service, when we had to leave early.
