I stayed in this b&b two nights this week and was really delighted with it. The décor is amazing, lots of quirky pieces and plants. The owner was really helpful and patient, and was kind to point out places to eat or go walking. Great location too in the quaint left bank of the town. And even though I've been...

Full of art and color, wonderfully decorated, comfortable and conveniently located. A really unusual, fun B&B. The loft room is fabulous, more like a suite; the main sleeping area has a double (or queen?) bed, and an adjoining area, up a few steps, has a single bed. The loft room has skylights in the room; a little balcony; an electric...

This place is fantastic, the decor is worth visiting on its own. I loved it. The owners were really helpful regarding where to go, what to visit. Breakfast is continental. A buffet of cereal, cheeses, preserves, breads, etc.. All fresh and high quality. The cleanliness of the place was second to none and the linen crisp fresh and white. A...

We found this recommended in "Let's go Ireland", and were very happy with our selections. The building is old and the layout is a maze, but the room was clean and just what we needed. It was on the small side, but the lounge area was nice and comfy, so if you felt the walls closing in, there was a...

My friend and I had written this darling B & B that we would arrive between Noon and 1pm. Our flight got in ridiculously early so we landed on The Bastion's doorstep soaking wet, cold, and exhausted at 8 am. We weren't expecting much, maybe just to drop our luggage and a direction where we could get a hot cup...

What a delightful place to stay, we only had one night unfortunately,it was charming and tranquil. A treasure trove of antiques and cosy furniture, I'd hate to have to do the dusting but it was spotless. We'll be back!.... Pat & Attila

I found this place a bit randomly online and saw they had the neatest loft room available. Unique with nooks and crannies and only 55euro a night! They couldn't have been nicer and they had a full spread at breakfast too. Best part: I left a pair of earrings on the nightstand by accident. I asked if they would be...

I've been here for two weeks, the owners are very kind and the room was nice. It's very close to the best restaurant and to Sean bar (the oldest pur in Ireland). It has no parking, but I did not have trouble to find parking around it. There's not elevator, but who cares? The B&B looks strange when you just...

What a great discovery! We stayed two nights in the Loft room, very spacious for three people. The Bastion is very eclectic with lots of character. Vinnie and Anthony made us feel instantly welcome. The breakfast was quite a feast with a great selection of fruit, breads, cheeses, yogurt and cereal...more than we could possibly enjoy. Thank you for a...

“Book in advance to get the larger upstairs loft room which is converted from an old dorm for young tradesman apprentices. A phone call ahead of time will give you all the information that you need. The whole inn is a series of old wood staircases leading to rooms here and there and off to the sides--all decorated with interest and comfort in mind. Our large room was remarkable for the fact that it could easily slept four to six people, and the huge beds were so comfortable that it was hard to roll out and start the day. Also, the tiny balcony offered a fine view of the trees that had just begun their fall color. If you plan to start in Dublin and move toward the West Coast, this is exactly mid-point, and many scenic and historic places are nearby as well.”
