We stayed two nights at this large B & B. We arrived at 10:30PM. Phoned at 6 to let them know we’d be late, no reply so left a message. Our welcome was decidedly cool. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The room, though large, was dated and smelled musty. No kettle in the room. Marie was nice and tried to be helpful. We loved the area especially our visit to Kylemore Abby.
The view on the lake is absolutely stunning and the location is very good for visiting the Connemara. On the other hand, the rooms are quite shabby. The furniture and bathroom fixtures are old and there is no drinking water in the room (you can look for a glass of water in the lobby) which is not very convenient for brushing your teeth especially if pregnant. Finally, the hosts are not very friendly. Nothing in particular to say but just a bit cold.
Me and my boyfriend spent a weekend at this lovely and relaxing guest house. Our experiences were great since we really enjoy the nature, we had a great room with view to the lake, it was beautiful ! The breakfast included was a real banquet, and delicious ! The hosts were so helpful and friendly, there was a night we were planning to go to the closest town by bike in the night time but it would take us 2h return, the owner of the place offered us a lift to the town for free and dropped us in the centre where we could grab some drinks and food. Amazing experience, I highly recommend.
After a full day of sights and travel—and with more to come, we were ready for a restful overnight of quiet relaxation. The Corrib Wave House in Oughterard, literally at the end of the road, was ideal. Our accommodation was clean, home-like, comfortable, and very suitable for the four of us. To our delight, our room looked out on the pasture of grazing sheep with a view of Lough Corrib. Our host served us a refreshing pot of tea in the conservatory, and in the morning a full cooked breakfast and fresh assortment of fruit, yogurt and granola. Our travel schedule kept us from exploring the area more, but we were intrigued at the thought. Perhaps there will be another opportunity! For one day, or one week, The Corrib Wave House is a welcome—and welcoming—stay!
