Last weekend my partner and I landed in Skib with no accomodation booked. A series of random events took us to the door of Mona Best's Bridge House Victorian Accomodation. Instantly welcomed and immediatly intrigued with the decor, we needed to look no further. A cornucopia of vintage and eccentric antiques filled every wall and nook. Our bedroom was a...

My 7 days and nights staying at Bridge House Skibbereen were wonderful. The decor immediately surprised, however, my surprise settled most quickly and became curiosity, wonder and interest, tinged with humour. Mona, my gracious, generous and gregarious hostess, was a delightful local person who was able to suggest points of interest in West Cork, as well as make myself feel...

From the moment I walked through the doors of The Bridge House I was taken on a journey of the "senses". A mix of eclectic art, furniture and collectables. Mona is an amazing host, generous, kind and friendly. Breakfast is 2 course, fresh quality local produce served on a collection of fine china that changes daily. Mona always keeps it...

All that I say about the Bridge house won´t be enough to describe so amazing is it. Mona is a wonderful person, she wants you feel very well during your stay and of course that she gets it . The house is gorgeous. All the details are concerned with dedication. The room is so beautiful, very cosy and warm. The...

I do not have enough room here or time to tell you what a special experience with Mona. It is extraordinaire. She is so kind. The room as well as the bathroom, kept us occupied for hours, discovering each of Monas treasures that created the uniqueness of each room since we stayed up most of the night worrying. The beds...

Mona's house is something else and the way she leads it and welcomes you leaves nothing to criticise. The pink room was quiet to the backyard with comfy beds and running hot water in the wash basin. The breakfast food with coffee and tee was enjoyable, the breakfast room and the living room were occupying the eye for quite a...

Step through the front door, lured by the colours of the facade, into Mona's world. You will love it. This is not a B&B for the fussy or those in a hurry, this place is wasted on you. Each of the rooms has its own style, and if you happen to be alone the night you are staying, take a...

Bridge Guesthouse is a lovely, clean, cosy and slightly maximalistic decorated house! Mona is your hostess and her home is an experience on its own! And beds are really comfy! Mona truly is a lovely woman, and have lots of knowledge on which places to visit around Skibbereen. She advised me to go to Mizen Head and Baltimore, and I...

I have been coming to Skibbereen and to Mona's for years now and I have a lot of good reasons for doing so. She is hospitable, kind and caring, provides lovely breakfasts and has a very unique feeling to her place. So full marks and thumbs up for the Bridge House.

Never have i been so enamoured by a place of rest! What a crazy, welcoming, amusing, tasteful, arty, mildly unsettling, entertaining, satisfying, homely, tongue-in-cheek, anything but run-of-the-mill guesthouse right in the centre of age-old Skibbereen. Mona is an open-minded lady who deserves the highest praise for going against the grain and may she be all the richer for it. An...
