Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Lakeshore Lodge on Caragh Lake for 3 nights in June. The location was central to the Ring of Kerry and within an hour to Dingle Peninsula. Kathleen McGillycuddy is the proprietor and outstanding chef. Our room was excellent with private bath and very comfortable queen bed. Our cousins room had a large picture window with a beautiful view of Caragh Lake. Our breakfast was served in a lovely room overlooking the Lake and well manicured lawn. Kathleen and her husband Gene gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and sites to visit during our 4 day stay. We enjoyed the quiet location on the Lake and it was a short drive into the town center of Killorglin where we had 2 excellent dinners. We highly recommend staying at Lakeshore Lodge and experienced wonderful Irish hospitality and delicious Irish Breakfast and the best smoked salmon!

I've been fortunate enough to stay with Kathleen and Gene several times and each time is better than the last. The locations is superb and the level of attention and service from Kathleen is top notch. You immediately feel at home. There is a beautiful balance of Kathleen being available to engage or give suggestions, but to also enjoy your time in completely turning off. No better location for this than the Lakeshore Lodge. I hope I am able to return again and again!

The owner is very lovely, and the rooms are lovely -especially the one at the back of the house with the lake view. Breakfast great! My only slight gripe is that they charge pp not per room, which makes it a little expensive.

Treat yourself by staying here instead of in the busy town. This home is absolutely gorgeous. The bedroom was the most spacious of any of the B&Bs we stayed in and was so beautifully appointed. The beautiful room was enhanced by the view past the park-like garden and sculptures to the scenic lake beyond. Kathleen was a lovely hostess and offered great suggestions on where to go and what to do. What a little bit of heaven here...aah....

Lake Shore Lodge is a gorgeous house at an excellent location, extremely comfortable and the most lovely hosts. Myself and a colleague are most fortunate to frequent the location with some regularity in the summer months for business and it is always incredibly comfortable and welcoming. No matter the weather the view is lovely. Breakfasts are delightful, and there are plenty of trails and cycle routes near by.
Kathleen is so kind, extremely pleasant, very flexible, and very good at keeping the house in perfect form.

The lodge is situated directly on the lake, which is a really nice spot in the nature just 10 min away from the ring of Kerry. From our room, the breakfast and the living room was a very nice view over the garden and the lake. The breakfast was very good, comprehensive including fresh fruit Salat. We received very good recommendations for vistits or restaurants and we have had very nice and personal chats with Kathleen and Sean.

We stayed 2 great nights at Lakeshore Lodge.
As the name suggests the house overlooks a calm and beautiful lake.
Minutes drive from restaurants and pubs.'p
And great spot to start the Ring of Kerry.
The host was gracious and friendly, our room with a large picture window looking over the lake was fantastic.
Breakfast was ample and delicious and cooked to order.
We would definitely recommend and hope to stay again one day.

We enjoyed our two-night stay at Lakeshore Lodge. Our hostess was so sweet and very accommodating. When we arrived, (late), she contacted a couple of restaurants for us and sent us to a beautiful restaurant that used to be a church (Think it was called Sol y Soma). They served delicious fare, had Irish music, Irish dancer and an Irish storyteller.
Our view was amazing at the lodge and our walk to the lake was so enjoyable we didn't want to leave. Our breakfast was full of so many choices and very delicious while enjoying the view. We would highly recommend Lakeshore Lodge !!

We spent three nights at Lakeshore. The house was beautifully fitted out, with comfortable beds and a great view. Lovely setting and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was generous and delicious. Kathleen was a wonderful host with lots of local knowledge and advice. A real pleasure to stay here and I'd highly recommend it.

My wife and I were staying in Killorglin for only one night, and thank goodness for the positive reviews that led us to Kathleen and Gene's Lakeshore Lodge. Oh, their property is amazing, sitting on the shore of Caragh Lake. The view from their backyard, and from our room, was breathtaking. The room itself was the largest, most luxurious one we stayed in during our three weeks in Ireland. We loved it so much, we had an early dinner and spent the evening "at home". Kathleen and Gene are gems. They are so kind, and we had some great conversations about my genealogical research and finding relatives in County Waterford. We were sad that we only stayed for one night, but hope that you are able to stay for longer. Thank you so much, Kathleen. PS Kathleen we bought a copy of Philomena, like you recommended.
