Detailed Reviews
Stayed here with Irma for two nights while driving the Ring of Kerry.
Rooms are clean and tidy, but a little bit dated. Think of going to stay with your grandma, who you might not have seen in 20 years! Irma though, is charming, and a great host. Local knowledge is second to none, and she'll help you out with routes and suggestions on places to visit on your way.
Really quiet location, ample car parking, great views of the mountains in the distance from the bedroom windows.
One point to be aware of - if you're in a downstairs room, and there are guests upstairs, you'll know!

This B&B is convenient for a ring of Kerry or Dingle visit. The place is well kept and super quiet at night. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. The breakfast is fine dining! Our host was charming and helpful. Great value here.

To my surprise, on leaving Killorglin after 3 nights stay, I realised what I’d miss the most afterwards was the hospitality provided by Irma and John at Fern Rock! From the moment myself and my wife arrived we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They have the service balance of always being there to help but never in the way perfected down to a tee. Bedroom spacious and spotless, breakfast was great and the daily home cooking by Irma was the icing on the cake! Killorglin is a great place with always fun things going on, but in hindsight we would not have got as much out of it in the days we were there if we hadn’t stayed at Fern Rock. I cannot recommend them enough and have already decided to return next year.

The location is good with easy access to the Ring of Kerry and the DIngle Peninsula.
The rooms are tiny. The bathrooms are so small that sitting on the toilet has your legs beneath the sink. The shower barely has enough room for an adult. Anyone plus size would not fit in it.
Be prepared for them to ask for payment in cash. Either pay online in advance or bring a lot of cash with you.
Parking is tight -- there are free spaces in the back but really only fits 3 cars and is tight enough to require a lot of manouvering to turn around and get out of it.
Be advised that even though the booking information didn't say anything, they require masks to be warn. Common areas are closed as well.
If you go in summer and it happens to be hot, there is no A/C and the windows in our room were tiny and offered no releif with an outide breeze

The rooms are okay but not special. We had a twin which was okay but very small. There are larger rooms which you should prefer. The shower in our room was not optimal. Hardly waterpressure and not a good watertemperature.
The house has a very spacious living room where you can sit in the evening.
The lady of the house is a walking tourist guide.
She knows all the hotspots and gives you very practical infomation.
Listening to her benefits you.

During our Ireland-trip in may (2017) we stayed for 2 nights in Fern Rock B&B. Our room was convenient, it was plenty large enough and the beds where very good. Also the large livingroom is available for the guests. Breakfast was good and Irma is very kind and gives serviceable advice for making a daytrip. So will we never forget our carride through the Black Valley. Thank you Irma for this great experience.

We stayed at Fern Rock for two nights last week during a week long trip to Ireland. This was the favorite B&B of our vacation. Irma and John were kind and welcoming and their home was warm and cozy, beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for our showers.. This property is out in the country situated directly between Kilorglin and Milltown. (about two miles from each town), The owners were kind enough to drive us into Kilorglin both evenings so we could have dinner and visit the pubs(we think this was partly due to it was the low season and we were the only guests there, plus they're just really nice people). We took a taxi back for about 10 euro. Kilorglin is a charming little town with great restaurants and very friendly pubs and we made some fine friends there. This was my favorite town in Ireland. Thanks Erma and John for a wonderful stay in your home.

Very friendly and helpful owner. Was nice to be offered advice on some of the places to go and things to see. The room was a little on the small side but was clean and the overall facilities were good. The breakfast was good and there was a variety of options available.

This is a lovely bed and breakfast. Irma is a very nice lady. Nothing was too much trouble. She made sure you had everything you needed. The rooms are spacious and inviting. Very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this.

Irma was the best host! Every day at breakfast she would take the time to find out what each of us was doing that day or traveling to. She would go over the best (most scenic) way to get there, what to see, what to expect (weather).
The room was cozy, the breakfast great and the grounds of the B&B full of flowers and trees. the bird feeder in the breakfast room window was an entertaining bit of fun..
