The room was well kept, clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the river. Breakfast was delicious with a wide selection of food that catered for a variety of appetites. And the service was first class with owner, Francis, providing a wealth of information about the Kerry region and the West coast in general.
All in all, a brilliant B&B for those looking for a good chat, a good feed, and a good dose of Irish charm.
Thank you Riverside House!!
First the smell of an old stinky house and we were mentioned we are late (we were like agreeded before - at 10pm - I am here for bed and breakfast! bed means night!) Second: they have Tea / Coffee making facilities, but did not mention - not in rooms! We were showed 1.5mx1m guest kitchen - the dirtiest place in this B&B - white kettle was printed by enormous number of dirty fingers, 4 brown glasses did not hide tea residue (NEVER WASHED?!), there was NO spoon! Rooms were stinky, smell from common batroom in corridor was the strongest. Dust were everywhere; tissue box was wrapped in (handmade?) fabric cover GRAY of dust; uncomfortable pillwos (extremly hard) had their own smell; no duvets- sheet-woolen blanket (can peel-off your legs!)-sheet; just a bulb at the ceiling in bathroom and the smallest shower on earth! Bed-side lamps non- adjustable; but who cares, you cannot touch it at all after a while - but maybe you can iron something with them?! Spider-nets of course. And we had to wait for radiators to start working; did not they expect us?! I had a hair-dryer, but I did not find a socket!!! I engaged my husband to do it and success!!! He had ONLY to shift the bed - and here you are...!
Even when we saw the view we had there next morning (really nice, they could not spoil this) there was the breakfast! Dirty spoon at the beginning? As you wish; every piece of tableware looks like used 30 years till now. Juice? it is already at your place, you want it or not.
WHY WHY WHY???!!!
I did not know how to tell them, how terrible place they have. We just left. And we were given a card advertising this place "for our friends"; there was not anything like "Luxurios" on it any more...
We stayed in about 10 B&Bs around England and Ireland on this trip and there is no way that I would return to this one. If they renovate, it could be amazing, what a fabulous location and garden...
Are these people describing the same place i have been?
Only the 'terrible' reviews mirror my experiences.... as this place was indeed terrible (except for the view and the convenient location near town).
Outdated rooms and furniture, very small bed, not clean at all (empty sigarette package behind the bin), empty showergel and shampoo containers.
it was that this was pre-booked as part of a trip, but we should have left.....
Also the owners claim to be very helpful in giving tripadvices. Well that is not our experiences as upon our questions we got a kind of rude answer and a brochure pushed in our hands.
Please, drive past and try to find another place!
Beds/pillows very uncomfortable and you need to check if you want double as they use twin beds made up separately and covered by double quilt cover so you cant tell on inspection is not double.
Overall better miss this one
The breakfast was delicious and bedroom was lovely with a great view of the land.
Our daughter forgot her cuddly cat and Géraldine was kind enough to send it back to us by post.
We recommend this place without hesitation.
"All the rooms looked to be equally attractive, as near as we could tell. Not like a big hotel, with rooms on "good" side or not. Geraldine will surely put you in the best room she has available of the right size."Read full review
