My mum and I stumbled upon this little pot of gold while road tripping around Ireland and can say, without question, that it was one of the warmest, friendliest B&B's we had the pleasure of staying at.

The room was well kept, clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the river. Breakfast was delicious with a wide selection of food that catered for a variety of appetites. And the service was first class with owner, Francis, providing a wealth of information about the Kerry region and the West coast in general.

All in all, a brilliant B&B for those looking for a good chat, a good feed, and a good dose of Irish charm.

Thank you Riverside House!!

If you want somewhere a bit different than the usual sterile B and Bs around Ireland, this grand old house maybe to your liking. It is in a great position and loaded with character and odd curios that have been lovinlgy collected by Geraldine, the lodges' owner. The position on the river is superb and Geraldine is a wonderful host . Free internet is also a plus for the traveller. Thanks for the memorable stay.

when i stayed in this b'n'b i could not belive the value and amazing service. both husband and wife were exstremaly helpful. they went out of there way helping us with planning where to stay. we were going to stay 1 night and endened stay a week. the place was clean and comfortable with a homely feeling. after reading some of the other reviwes i am dissapointed in people because this place was amazing and the best place i stayed in ireland. to the bad reviwes i say to people reading this take my advice and go and stay here.

We stayed at this place (thanks gods) only for one night, and my mum even wanted to leave it without staying there! First: this "Luxury Accomodation" does not have photos of interiors! That should have warned me, but - it is luxury! what can happend? EVERYTHING!
First the smell of an old stinky house and we were mentioned we are late (we were like agreeded before - at 10pm - I am here for bed and breakfast! bed means night!) Second: they have Tea / Coffee making facilities, but did not mention - not in rooms! We were showed 1.5mx1m guest kitchen - the dirtiest place in this B&B - white kettle was printed by enormous number of dirty fingers, 4 brown glasses did not hide tea residue (NEVER WASHED?!), there was NO spoon! Rooms were stinky, smell from common batroom in corridor was the strongest. Dust were everywhere; tissue box was wrapped in (handmade?) fabric cover GRAY of dust; uncomfortable pillwos (extremly hard) had their own smell; no duvets- sheet-woolen blanket (can peel-off your legs!)-sheet; just a bulb at the ceiling in bathroom and the smallest shower on earth! Bed-side lamps non- adjustable; but who cares, you cannot touch it at all after a while - but maybe you can iron something with them?! Spider-nets of course. And we had to wait for radiators to start working; did not they expect us?! I had a hair-dryer, but I did not find a socket!!! I engaged my husband to do it and success!!! He had ONLY to shift the bed - and here you are...!
Even when we saw the view we had there next morning (really nice, they could not spoil this) there was the breakfast! Dirty spoon at the beginning? As you wish; every piece of tableware looks like used 30 years till now. Juice? it is already at your place, you want it or not.
WHY WHY WHY???!!!
I did not know how to tell them, how terrible place they have. We just left. And we were given a card advertising this place "for our friends"; there was not anything like "Luxurios" on it any more...

The one and only redeeming quality of this B&B is the view - it is spectacular. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were freezing cold (in August, yet!), it is in need of a desperate renovation, just awful, not clean, and absolutely no water pressure in the shower. The towels were like thin cardboard, or the oldest hardest rag you can imagine. The sheets and covers on the beds were fine, new and clean, but they looked out of place against the rest of the decor.

We stayed in about 10 B&Bs around England and Ireland on this trip and there is no way that I would return to this one. If they renovate, it could be amazing, what a fabulous location and garden...

If you get a view of the river at breakfast then this is a great location. In all other respects this B&B was not great. The room was musty, the breakfast (scrambled eggs swimming in liquid, super salty smoked bacon) poor and tea-making facilities mean of spirit. To top it off the hostess had a tip jar at the door! Classic case as to why B&Bs need some review vis-a-vis price and product.

I am flabbergasted by the positive reviews of this B&B.
Are these people describing the same place i have been?
Only the 'terrible' reviews mirror my experiences.... as this place was indeed terrible (except for the view and the convenient location near town).

Outdated rooms and furniture, very small bed, not clean at all (empty sigarette package behind the bin), empty showergel and shampoo containers.
it was that this was pre-booked as part of a trip, but we should have left.....

Also the owners claim to be very helpful in giving tripadvices. Well that is not our experiences as upon our questions we got a kind of rude answer and a brochure pushed in our hands.

Please, drive past and try to find another place!

Good location however few real crytical points Poor heating in that owner controls and turns heating on late and is off when you wake so rooms cold.

Beds/pillows very uncomfortable and you need to check if you want double as they use twin beds made up separately and covered by double quilt cover so you cant tell on inspection is not double.

Overall better miss this one

We were unable to stay in this lovely BnB this time while in Killorglin as it was closed for the few days we were there. However the proprietor Geraldine apologized for not being able to accommodate us and kindly directed us to another establishment just across the river. I have stayed at Riverside House before ( my first BnB experience) and had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was wonderful and the river side location and views are a treat. If I was to return to Killorglin it would again be my first choice.

Geraldine is a very welcoming and smiling person.
The breakfast was delicious and bedroom was lovely with a great view of the land.
Our daughter forgot her cuddly cat and Géraldine was kind enough to send it back to us by post.

We recommend this place without hesitation.
