I had never been to this hotel before - but I will return. It is timeless. It is a mixture of the holiday camp in Dirty Dancing where families return season after season and with good reason and Fawlty Towers with all it's quirks (but no Sybil Fawlty nor Basil or Manuel either!) - and I mean that in the...

Stayed in the hotel for a golfing weekend at Connemara Golf Links. The rooms are in the period of the building, a little dated, but spent very little time in the room anyway as the bar and restaurant are the places to be in this little jewel in Clifden. The champagne reception on Saturday evening set the tone for the...

Spent 1 night at Abbeyglen castle back in October. We arrived a tad early for check in, and were told it would be 30 minutes before we could get into our room. This was no problem at all since we were eager to explore the grounds. Absolutely beautiful! Our room had a wonderful view, and from it we could heard...

This is jewel in Clifden, Ireland. It is a very old estate/hotel that offers service from centuries ago. Do not expect a lot of fluff, just old world charm and service. We had a 1 bedroom suite and enjoyed our stay here immensely. The food was great and the service outstanding. The village of Clifden was quaint, as most Irish...

Just spent 2 days at the fantastic Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden. Extremely scenic location, gothic looking hotel made even more so by the Halloween weekend that it was. The owners Paul and Brian were extremely attentive as were all the staff. We particularly enjoyed the compulsory champagne receptions by the cosy fire on both evenings as well as the...

The personal attention of Brian and his staff is what was most memorable about our stay. Added to this is the tea and scones on arrival, pre dinner prosecco whilst getting a short history of the hotel and surrounding area and of course the post dinner entertainment. We also got a nice surprise of a room upgrade on arrival. Dinner...

We had very high hopes for the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel but they weren't completely met... The ventilation in the room was very poor and it was stuffy the whole time. Also, we were really hoping for a tour or to hear about the history of the hotel and didn't get either, despite attending the welcome reception. On the flip side,...

Spent the weekend at the hotel for a family gathering for a 40th birthday party. We had a super weekend -the food, the warmth of the hotel (open fires), and the truly USP of this hotel-the personal service by the hotel Owner Brian, his Dad Paul and their staff who gave us such a personalised service. We felt so welcome,...
