Only stayed one night but found the lodge very close to town and walking distance to everything. Our room was of good size and very comfortable. The wifi was strong enough to handle anything we needed to do and the breakfast was good. Parking was great as it was right behind the lodge.

Friars lodge needs a lot of updating and clearing of clutter. Clean enough but a bit dusty and shabby, bathrooms need changing also. Breakfast ok,but ingredients not the best, cheap cereal and horrible coffee, have to ask for toast otherwise you won't get it, very small quantities of jam and marmalade.

I'm well travelled having been all over the globe but Kinsale struck a chord with me - it is honestly the friendliest place I have ever visited! What made our stay extra comfortable was the hospitality Maureen and Mary showed from the moment we checked in. Maureen wrote down a list of pubs for us to check out for an...

We were in Kinsale for the Kinsale Classic Car Rally an annual event organised by Kinsale Classic & Vintage Motor Club. We missed out on staying with Maureen this year so were sleeping in Jim Edwards Guest House. As Jim Edwards do not supply Breakfasts we were invited by Maureen to have breakfasts at Friars Lodge & were also able...

As most reviewers already mentioned: Friar's Lodge is a bit dated in their decor (and their website), but don't let this fool you. It's a charming and spacious accommodation. Maureen is so friendly and made you feel welcome. It's situated just 2 min outside the town center, in a quieter neighbourhood. And a bonus: free off-street parking! Wifi connection was...

Stayed in Friars Lodge over St. Patrick's weekend with my family. We booked 6 rooms. Each room was huge, warm and very clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was any bother. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. It was very quiet and has a guest carpark to the back that is a bonus as Friars lodge is situated on...

I liked the location up on a hill away from tourists. It's easy walking distance from downtown, even with luggage. It's near the Desmond Castle and churches. The big gold lettering in the side of the building attracted me when I was searching for a hotel off the beaten path.

We stayed 2 nights at Friars Lodge. Pulled in to town and called a few places, and we liked the sound of Mary's voice when we spoke with her and we were right! She gave us a key to look at the room... a large room with sitting area and 2 beds...we were sold! Friars is a street away from...

Myself and my other half stayed here for the Jazz festival in 2015 and loved the place so much we decided to come back again this year and bring our two friends. It's a lovely place to stay, the rooms are huge and clean and have all of the facilities you could possibly need including an iron and ironing board...
