A trip back down memory lane visiting the family's home town and my first ever visit into the Black Boy. Loved it! Great selection of gins (from the craft gin club), great selection of real ales and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were really friendly and helpful, made the two evenings we spent there really enjoyable....

We're fairly sure our 1nite stay here wud have been ok...but we parked our car in their car park, with confirmation that that was fine. We left our car 'safely' parked there whilst goin off to visit the local Natural Trust stately home. We had a super day out. We came back planning to have an evening meal @ The...

Hi, Although it is a terrible thing that has happened to your car in Sudbury and we will help the police with any enquiries they have, I would like to point out that this had nothing to do with The Black Boy. You had driven through our car park and parked in a private residents parking area which is clearly...

Stopped here on the hoof for an early Sunday breakfast, never been before so took a chance. Well, what can I say, the pub itself has been renovated and is gorgeous inside, really really nice, the young lady serving us was incredibly friendly and helpful and that was all before the breakfast arrived!!!! Full English for £8!!! It was perfectly...

Called in here for lunch on a quiet week day just at the cut off time for food. Our starters were good, presented well and very tasty. Both our main courses were however, plain and poorly presented, I wonder if the chef had left and our main courses were prepared by someone else who lacked the required skill, they really...

Chose The Black Boy over other options in Sudbury because it looked like a classic town centre old world coaching inn. Staying here was exactly like that. I was in room 5 which was cold, noisy and generally not worth the money. In summary downstairs was fine: nice pub, friendly staff and a really good breakfast. Worth a visit. Upstairs...

Decided to stay in Black Boy overnight, during my 10d trip visiting friends and family in East Anglia. I wanted a bit of British pub inn charm, but got poor sleep, terrible breakfast and regrets... Here is why (order non-specific): - Room was ok enough, not super clean but livable. - Beats from music, played in bar, could be clearly...

Well I can say very nicely decorated bar. Very nice and friendly staff and a great selection of cask ales. Was a bit of a let down with my food. Other half had the prawn & Chorizo linguine. I had the slow cooked ribs (only 4 ribs - well must of been the worst ribs I've ever had boil in...

Huge room (ask for room 3!) with an enormous, very comfy bed, separate seating area, fireplace and views onto the main street. Bathroom was spacious & had a great shower. Rate included a full English, which was very good value and delicious! No issues with coldness in our room as others have experienced - all in all a great one...

Booked this hotel last minute to spend New Years Eve. The room was basic but comfortable, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the bar is tastefully decorated and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is full of character and a perfect location
