Such a shame that such a beautiful place has gone so downhill. We used to go there quite a lot a few years ago and it was wonderful, beautiful building full of history and absolutely fascinating, so today, we thought we would call in after a long walk with the dog and have some lunch. We popped our head around...

Decided to cheer up on particularly dull and wet winter's day. Very few patrons on this Wednesday lunchtime & were greeted amiably by the lady of the house. Sat next to the fiire which pleased the wife who chose their ginormous gammon steak & chips, & I went for three chunks of sole with peas and new potatoes. Meanwhile ordered...

Came across this old traditional pub whilst touring the lanes west of Saltash. The Landlord made us very welcome and offered a good choice of meals off menue. We opted for jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings which we really enjoyed. Lovely village location. Brilliant atmostphere. Very enjoyable and well worth seeking out in Pillaton.

We stopped on the off chance there was space for lunch on a bank holiday. There was a good fire going. Service was excellent. The menu was wide ranging. A ploughmans with beef was stunning. Dessert was a generous sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream. 2 courses plus drinks plus coffee was £30 so reasonable price. Will stop again

Had evening meal as were staying nearby. We booked and just as well as there was not a spare table. This was Tuesday night and there were 40+ people eating!. Good simple Pub food, but plenty of it. Friendly table service, roaring fire and nicely kept ales. Staff are Cornish, but seem to actually like serving tourists which really helps...

Historically this place has always had a good reputation for food. And from a gluten-free standpoint, always seen as "on our side". Maybe it is under new ownership/management but that is no longer the case. In our experience, simple stuff like steak n chips are ok. But anything involving chef skills is a no-no.

Lovely place, friendly landlady and great breakfast cooked freshly. Evening meals are great too. Bedrooms look newly refurbished and are adequate for a short stay, although a chair and waste bin would be nice.
