This hotel is big and the facilities are quite good, socially the spa and pool area. But... everything is just very adequate and simple. If u want bit of romance or feel of luxury this is not where you would find it. Our stay was not very pleasant, lots of small disappointments and nothing run as it should (at least in our opinion) We checked in late (around 8.30pm) there was no one on reception, we had to wait around 15 min for receptionist to come (while other guests were looking for her as well) then she told us where is our room so fast we couldn't even understand, just like she wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible without smile. It was very unpleasant experience. The layout of rooms are not very strait forward so we got lost and had to ask other guest to point us to right direction. (There was no one to take us to the room) Room was ok, very functional but floorboards cracked a lot so there is not too much quiet. Second night pipes made so much noise we couldn't sleep from 6am .. So not very relaxing. We were missing shower from the very first night and even after housekeeping we haven't get it refilled. We had to go and find housekeeping staff to ask for it. The spa area is very functional and everything works how it should but it is more for sport weekend then romantic one. There was new dissapontment when we booked table for dinner at 8pm and table wasn't ready, nobody was there to greet us, we had to ask spa receptionist how to get to restaurant and she run in and asked us to wait. When we finally got a table, there were still free tables in restaurant, so I really don't understand what the problem was. Food was ok.. nothing very special to be honest. Yeah.. So I guess this hotel is ok if u don't expect too much, but we usually go to cheeper hotels and we get much better service.
Smart spacious reception area. Miles of corridors to reach our room, which was quite small but clean and comfortable. All the staff we came across were polite, friendly and helpful. We didn't have time to try the pool and spa facilities but they looked good. Nice breakfast. All in all a favourable impression until we got home and discovered we'd been charged twice! Emailed the hotel on a Friday to point out the error but got no response so chased up the following Tuesday. Would've given 4 stars but being overcharged and having to chase for a refund changed our view.
Lovely hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of helpful and friendly staff. The No18 restaurant menu had a varied selection and the food was excellent. Will definitely return. My partner also had a golf lesson which he found good value and helpful.
We stayed here for a week with the family and it was absolutely fabulous, great facilities, very good service and the pool and spa area is a credit to the hotel. Would definitely return and highly recommend it !
Four of us travelled down to Cornwall for a one night two rounds of Golf break, which included an evening meal and breakfast. We were extremely lucky in that the weather for mid October could not have been better, t-shirts both days and both courses were in excellent condition. The Kernow course is a good front nine, but there are a couple of 'filling in holes' on the back nine that took the shine of this course, but the Nicklaus we all thought was fantastic, good challenge, interesting holes and scenic in places. So would definitely come back to play the Nicklaus course again. On the hotel side of things, the twin room was very nice overlooking the 18th, dinner was very good and I thought quite a generous allowance for the food and breakfast was a very good buffet affair. There is a nice outside area beside the 18th at which you can enjoy a few drinks. We didn't really use the bar so cannot comment on that area. All in all we had an excellent weekend and may go back again next year.
