Second visit, stayed 1 night with hubby and our little dog. Lovely comfortable room(5). Very friendly owners who made us feel welcome. Great pub with good atmosphere and most important it is dog friendly. The food was exceptional. Can hghly recommend, great value with 2 meals for £12. We had the Lasagne one night and then Steak & Ale Pie...

This pub with outbuildings converted to lovely clean and comfortable bedrooms was perfect for us.Rooms were arranged around a small yard with seating and gardens. Within a walk or bus ride into town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was in the bar area of the pub. It was well cooked and they accommodated individual needs. Evening dinner offered...

After parking up getting here early, me and my girlfriend took a walk into Matlock and then onto Matlock bath. It's about a 10 minute walk down the hill to Matlock and about 20-30 minute walk into Matlock bath, which we didn't mind as it was a nice walk. The walk back up is not easy as it is quite...

The big plus for us was that the Duke of Wellington are dog friendly. :) Our room was in a converted barn ... clean and reasonably well furnished. En-suite was adequate but ageing ... but did the job. The mattress was really too soft ... given the number of top quality UK manufacturers of beds and mattresses focussing on the...

Stayed one night, mainly due to location near to family and because they allowed dogs. Friendly staff. Outbuilding room was basic but adequate. The windows would be better if they only opened from the top, quite un-nerving knowing the windows opened onto the beer garden, and the other side onto terraced area, so having to keep the windows closed, making...

just spent one night at the fabulous Duke of Wellington accommodation. Its in a fantastic area very scenic. The place itself looks very oldie oldie from the outside but great to look at. Rooms were of a good standard, dodgy bathroom light in our room (5), kept flickering all night. Rooms very warm, no air con but apart from that...

Had a one night stay on a walking trip. Room was good, self contained in a small block of outbuildings. Disappointed that food serving seemed to end quite early but the beer was excellent. Seems well run and good value. Breakfast splendid. Would be happy to return.

Nice pub with good food and selection of real ales. Accommodation is in separate building so no noise from the pub - makes for a quiet stay. Rooms comfortable and clean. This was my second visit and it was great to be welcomed by a staff member who remembered my face. Overall great value.

Before I begin, I need to explain that my partner and I are a bit biased when it comes to the quality of Greene King pubs (having worked in the industry for a while), and when we found out they also have accommodation as well, we were a bit wary of the place. Needless to say, our worries were soon...
