My family and I were enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch. Everything had been so perfect, from the food to the waitress' attentiveness. Unfortunately this lovely afternoon was ruined due to an argument occurring between mangement and staff. I don't expect this from a well respected pub. Quite frankly I was appalled someone would speak to another person in this manor....

Stopped off on our way to Long Leat on Sunday after a recommendation from a friend and we arrived at 1pm to find the place surprisingly charming with the river running through the lovely garden. On entering the bar area you are left waiting for a while as the restaurant is a walk away and seemed to be the focus of...

And an excellent restaurant and hotel, too. The riverside location is extremely appealing, and there are pleasant walks to be had in the area. Our evening meal, looking out of the river, was first rate: confit of duck, and a steak. Friendly service. Room comfortable, though not exactly quiet on night one: another couple seemed to be enacting their favourite...

I happened across this place by chance, but it's absolutely delightful. A proper country, riverside inn with amazing food and comfortable rooms. If you get the opportunity, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

You could not fault the location of this Pub. We ate our lunch by the river with swans floating by. Idilic! The food was good - i tried the wild garlic soup - very pleasant and not in the least intrusive. My friends had very generous salads and I had a chicken curry. No grumbles - now the Butcombe beer...

This is a nice country pub in a lovely setting. I had a roast which was really good but unfortunately the beef was very gristly and I had to leave most of it. I spoke to one of the owners who couldn't have been kinder and offered a refund on some of the meal. Great customer service. This is the...

We eat out quite a lot in the local area and I have to say that our recent experience here was absolutely terrible! It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was pretty empty, this should have rang alarm bells. For starters I had the crispy squid which was horrible chewy frozen squid with a sweet chilli dip and presented...

Just a quick word of advice for those bringing babies / they have a fantastic supply of high chairs but no baby changing area. The toilets are too small to be able to do it on the floor in there too so I just had to do it in the middle of the restaurant! The service is attentive and the...

We stayed for two nights in March. The pub is in a lovely position with the restaurant overlooking the river. The room was small and the bathroom very small, but I am 6ft 5in tall and over 20 stone and managed ok. Excellent service and very friendly and efficient staff serving very good food made this an excellent break.

The upstairs are a little tired and the room we stayed in was basic and a little quirky, however, the people were very welcoming, and the bar and restaurant were good. We had a meal in the restaurant on Friday night and the food and service were very good - with the decking area looking onto the small river, I...
