Booked a table for 4 in the restaurant and they tried to put us at the bar waited half an hour for the table and the place was empty!! Then we ordered our food which was absolutely disgusting I took it home for my dogs! And waited yet another hour for the crappy food! Not one waiter came up to...

This review in no way represents the standard of food or service that typifies the Fir Trees Hotel, as attested to by the vast majority of reviewers. Having spoken to every member of staff who was on duty during the period I am convinced that the incident did not occur and that this is a purely malicious review; the fact...

On way back from hospital appointment today, which I had fasted for so feeling hungry, called in for lunch, big mistake! We got menu's, very limited, eat for under £5, alarm bells should have rang! I opted for fish in beer batter with salad. I ordered a separate portion of chips. My daughter ordered the chicken melt. We weren't offered...

We offer a hugely popular ''value for money'' lunch menu serving on average 200 covers daily. This menu was devised having taken into account comments and requests from our regular customers, and it has proven to be a major success. The menu is designed to offer customers a light lunch and a speedy turnaround, and this is reflected in the...

I could write an essay on the night in question but i will just raise my biggest concern. I ordered a fish dish from the new menu - the cod. When the dish arrived it was not correct, it was meant to be an indian spiced cod but on the plate there was what looked to be a creamy chorizo...

Given our excellent reputation for food we are extremely disappointed at the comments expressed by the reviewer, particularly as the person is a regular who has previously only had good dining experiences at the Fir Trees Hotel. We serve in the region of 3000 meals weekly and whilst we strive to ensure excellence at all times (and we seldom have...

It's the only hotel on town and is in a lovely position. It is in serious need of an overhaul and refurbishment to make theist of its potential . A heating breakdown, a TV malfunction , a broken light fitting,a bed that moves across the floor as soon as you rest back on the headboard, a bathroom door that won't...

We are disappointed to read the negative comments contained in this review particularly as the proprietor of the hotel dealt personally with the guests and their ''issues'', even offering a deluxe upgrade, which the guests refused on the basis that ''all was ok''. Initially I would like to address the so called ''breakdowns / malfunctions'' (1) We have recently upgraded...

Would like to commend the Hotel on its special package deal on 13 February. The deal was a four course meal, including a cinema ticket to the premiere viewing of Fifty Shades of Grey. The meal provided was outstanding; both in presentation, quality and quantity. Complements to Mandy and Paddy for securing the booking; the Chief for the wonderful meal...

Reasonably priced hotel. Room was clean although the sink plug in the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. The real fun started after 2am when we were woken by other guests returning to their rooms. Lets just say if your feeling romantic, and value your privacy, id think twice. Other than that, its not too bad.

I was going out for a meal, with a couple of my friends to celebrate my birthday. First of all we all ordered our starters, I got vegetable soup and it was freezing cold. My friend got soup too, she said it was warm but it had a huge hair in it! Then we ordered our dinner, I got chicken...

Popped into the Fir Trees for a scone and a pot of tea but liked it so much we ended up having lunch. The service was friendly and accommodated my slightly contrary Mum really well. The food was plentiful (as most Northern Ireland servings are) and tasty. The only thing that I'd comment on was the background music - too...

We arrived early and Paddy at reception was very helpful, agreed to hold our luggage as our room was not available (wedding the day before) We knew about this in advance so that was good communication on Paddy's part.. The room looked clean and modern but very noisy, everything is wood or laminate so doesn't absorb noise. Noisy wedding guests...
