My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Ivy Bush. The room was large and nicely furnished. A bath as well as a shower was appreciated. Really enjoyed dinner and the bar was a great place to relax. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
We booked this Hotel For Christmas 2022, by coach, rooms good , food very plain , considering it was a christmas break we expected something nice , arriving at 7pm for dinner on first day we got lump of Chicken Breast in gravy, two veg, waited til 7.45 to get 1st course and it was 9 before we left, and still had not had coffee , the entertainment started at 8.30? it was a carvery at 12 lunch (25th) which we had to q up for , overcooked veg that had been standing for at least an hour and sponge cake type deserts another Q ,,for a buffet for evening which had run out of Turkey after we q yet again. no sea food or sausage rolls just meat lettice cue, toms. no pickles , we paid over £ 700 for 5 days not god value for money
Great value - excellent breakfast - clean functional room - large very comfortable bed - slept very well - friendly staff - nice atmosphere- some areas in need of updating but nothing that would spoil a stay . Have stayed here on previous occasions and will return in the future. This is a traditional hotel and decor reflects this in a positive way.
I had to book at short notice and this was no problem for reception. Comfortable bed, plenty of parking, a clean room and a good breakfast. Reasonably priced. I had no reason to complain about anything .
We stayed at Ivy Bush hotel on a short visit to Carmarthen and it was a good experience. Below are the good and the can be improved points for the hotel. Good: 1) Good location and free parking. It was less than 30mins from Skanda Vale so it was very convenient. 2) Free breakfast included as standard. I had a great full Welsh breakfast that kept me full the whole day, a proper locally sourced fry up! 3) Good bathroom and shower. I usually find the shower water pressure in hotels lacking and this hotel had the perfect pressure with right temperature. Could be improved: 1) Dated rooms, although the photos in booking.com showed modern rooms when I booked an executive room, it was a bit different and the walls had molding on it. 2) The rooms are noisy when gatherings take place in the pub. We were on the ground floor while a Christmas function was hosted at the pub and didn't have a good night's sleep. Overall a good experience but there's room for improvement.…
Sunday lunch carvery with family just before Christmas. Excellent food and plenty of it, staff were great Car parking in the middle of town'ish. Retired to the lounge for coffee and relaxation. Will re visit for sure.
Our visit was to coincide with a Carol Service at the Hotel. Great welcome at the front of house. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. While the bar got very busy with Christmas functions there was ample space to find seating. Our breakfast was well presented and staff were very attentive. The young staff were well prepared for hospitality. We attended a carvery lunch, approximately 60 covrers. A very enjoyable Christmas lunch with service to a high standard. Overall a very good experience and recommended for visitors seeking quality accommodation in the area.
We recently held our Golden Wedding function for 70 guests here and it was a resounding success. The manageress was extremely helpful and accommodating at our initial consultation ensuring that we were provided with the menu and drinks that we required .The tables were beautifully laid out on the morning of the function and we were able to add our decorations at lunch time. During the evening the timing of everything was well organised and staff courteous and helpful. The carvery provided a wide variety and was delicious and plentiful . I would not hesitate in recommending the hotel for a function. The bar and lounges are comfortable and well appointed The only downside to the hotel are some of the bedrooms. We were provided with a large suite which sadly was very dated and slightly shabby. Breakfast however was very good .…
We stayed for 2 nights. Parking is free and enough spaces, register your car on device at reception. Reception staff friendly. Breakfast was ok but not enough staff to keep it tidy and topped up whilst clearing table as well. Lots of table to eat at. Bar food in the evening was very good. Room tired with ripped wallpaper and looked grubby, request for more pillows wasn’t met. Mould around sealant in bathroom. Ripped net curtains at window. Very 80’s decor. Hotel in desperate need of modernisation. Previous guests rubbish under bed and chairs so housekeeping very poor. They do not service rooms during your stay. Free wifi and easy to connect. Hotel has social guests staying and we had to endure a child running up and down the corridor at night. Was the hotel adequate - yes. Would I stay again - No.…
Not at all appropriate for business stay - stayed five nights for work but only as there were no other options available locally - grubby , tired, soulless Rooms not cleaned every day unless you request it but neither I or colleagues were told this on checking in Gym not available although advertised as having one Limited healthy options at breakfast so after trying first day went to supermarket instead - I work away from home a lot and this is probably worst hotel in a while and certainly not worth the money paid by my company - we were told hotel is currently used for migrant families awaiting housing and this seemed to be the case -
