We called The Kings Head at 18:50 on Saturday evening enquiring about room availability when our tent was ruined by the weather. We were advised they had a double room available and we were asked for our name and arrival time. When we arrived an hour later, we were greeted by a gentleman who remembered our name - a small thing that makes a big difference. We were shown to room 4 straight away - a great size with a large window overlooking the road and churchyard to the front of the property. The bed was comfortable (although a little short for anyone around 6ft+), and the room also had a sofa and tea/coffee making facilities. My partner showered at around 11pm and found that there was no hot water, even with the thermostat on the hottest setting, however the temperature was absolutely fine for both of us the following morning.

We spent the evening in the bar area, where we ordered food and drinks, and staff kindly put UFC on the televisions for us. It was a lovely atmosphere, food and service were great, and we also found upon checking out the next day that prices were extremely reasonable too. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and this was delicious too - all locally sourced and cooked and served to order.

We loved our stay at The Kings Head and really feel that we struck gold. It was the perfect (if unplanned) end to a great weekend. We have both said that we would gladly stay here again and have already recommended the hotel to others.

Have eaten here a few times and always had amazing food & great service. Sunday roasts are to die for and I will not go anywhere else for a roast dinner. Food is always on time even when it is busy and waitresses do everything they can to help. Food is always fresh and tastes perfect. Will definitely return in the future with my family

Motorcycle trip to beautiful Mid Wales and we stayed at the campsite and used the pub and restaurant.
Lovely.
The breakfast is superb, service friendly and attentive and the campsite itself basic but good value for money.
Evening bar meals are not quite the quality of the breakfast but perfectly adequate and after the beer made us miss the last slot for ordering hot food they rustled us up some sandwiches.
Thoroughly enjoyable and thank you for making us feel so welcome.

We entered the 'restaurant' which hadn't been decorated since the building was built - not in a good way. With no staff we seated ourselves at the best table with the least splattered paint and stains on it.

We were finally greeted by a young girl 5 minutes later. And asked if we'd like a drink, my wife ordered a diet pepsi which was poored from a can behind the bar (classy).

The menu arrived 15 minutes later in the form of some random words on a waiters note pad. Yep.

The meals we ordered were sent to the wrong table by accident. My wife recieved the kids burger and a kid across the room got the adult burger. We heard them say from the kitchen (which was next to us) "don't worry they won't know". We can hear you Mr Chef were 2m away from you.

I couldn't finish my fish and chips as after the third bone I found I thought it was too much of a choking hazzard.

But don't worry, the 8 flys buzzing around the room the whole time we were there had their fair share as we sat waiting the bill for 10 minutes.

We were starving and there is only one place to eat in the village. I can honestly say I've never experienced anything like it before in my life.

If you want to eat in a dull, quiet room with less than poor service, order off a hand written menu from a waiters note pad and eat fish bone - you'll love this place.

Myself, partner and 2 kids, youngest aged 11
(son) unfortunately went there for a meal tonight. Waited an hour for our food which was mediocre at best, starter came at the same time as 3 main meals....but my son's meal didn't come. Waitress (who was lovely) asked if all was ok so explained our issue. She went to sort it out. However, after finishing our meal my son's burger still hadn't arrived, despite a group of local lads having been served their burgers. So I asked what the hold up was, she got the DPS, whose body language was confrontational, to come out. I tried to explain my issue, yes I was annoyed but at no time did I shout or behave out of line. His response was to tell me to stop shouting (wasn't as he would have known if I was) and to get out of his pub! Awful costumer service, (not the waitresses, they were lovely) but the wait for average food and a DPS who obviously has no idea about customer services or how to speak to someone is appalling. Unless you want to wait ages for average bland food (unless you are a local) I would strongly suggest that you avoid this place.

Had a meal in the "barn" outside as part of a group. We were all sat down ready on time at 7.30pm when they started to take our order, table by table, even though our selections had already been given to them in advance. A solitary waiter then proceeded to bring the starters which took some time as we were a group of 42! Apparently there was another group in the pub but if you can't cope then don't accept bookings. As I was second to last to be served it was nearly 9 pm before I received my main course. Fish was nice but the veg were only just warm The beef was mainly fat and when my husband complained, was told, "I'm sorry to hear that". Twice, as he mentioned it to the waitress who eventually appeared, presumably when the other group had finished. The dessert was sickly and I suspect, out of a box. The tables weren't cleared properly, napkins and crackers were left and as we were packed in like sardines the waiter had to reach over to pass the plates, without an apology either - the waiter was young and inexperienced - it was very unfair to expect him to cope. There were no toilets, you had to go to the main building. Same for drinks although you could have waiter service but of course that meant waiting even longer for your meal. Extremely disappointing. We have had meals in the pub before and any issues were sorted. After this we will not be returning.

We stayed here last night (15th august)
a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers . Excellent price and that includes breakfast.

The place is spotless., staff are very healthy and helpful. The room ( family room no 8)
Was great . No complaints at all.

There was a great variety on the breakfast menu and the staff go above and beyond to accommodate your needs.

We didn't have an evening meal so can't comment on that .

Will definitely return. And absolutely recommend

Me and my husband booked in for a meal as we have a caravan not far away. I paid £13.50 for a tiny piece of Trout with 5 stems of asparagus no vegetables or potatoes! My husband had fish and chips that was £14.00 which was sloppy and a tiny portion. We waited over an hour for this too. Was very disappointed as it is so local.

Liked · Modern, large and comfortable double room. Tastefully furnished. Same can also be said of the en suite bathroom. The hotel has 9 rooms on two floors. The hotel / pub also has an enormous carpark at the rear of the property. Also at the rear is an enormous permanent covered area - brand new - for those who prefer to take their drinks out in the open, also plentifully supplied with great seating arrangements.
The breakfast choices available were perfect, and each provided a delicious and satisfying start to each day. The dinners are of superb quality (a brand new menu for the autumn) and choice. Absolutely the best . Especially the Venison... wow! The staff were always on hand with help and courteous. So, thanks for memorable stay, I'd like to say - we'll be back!

Disliked · It is as well to note that the hotel is also a popular pub, for both diners and drinkers. So you must expect some noise from the bar reaching you if you are on the first floor. This is not a criticism, this is fact, and should not deter from a lovely stay.

Went here for a meal with our family . The table was booked for at 5.30 . After waiting for over half an hour we asked if we could order the food . The waitress wasn’t aware that we hadn’t been asked to order. After ordering we waited another half hour for the food to arrive . The pub wasn’t busy so it wasn’t that . Our granddaughter who is 2 was very hungry and was getting restless due to this . The chips were soggy and cold and the steak was very very fatty.
The place is cold and uninviting . I wouldn’t recommend this unless your not fussy on the food you eat .
