Nestled at the base of a sheer granite outcrop called Nag Giri or Cobra mountain is Jawai Sagar. These outcrops are also the abode of the resplendent Indian leopard. The northern edge of the resort is lapped by the waters of the Jawai lake where the Indian Mugger crocodile might be seen basking in the sun while flocks of flamingos and pelicans lazily circle the waters. At night the stars shine in the clear skies and the waters of the lake shimmer in the moonlight. The silent night only broken by the call of the great horned owl as he alerts the animals of the prowling Leopard.

My husband and I stayed at Jawai Sagar recently. This cute little property amidst the Jawai Leopard Hills offers an experience to lie down at peace in the lap of Mother Nature. The balcony of your room opening up to a view of the blue waters of Jawai Sagar Lake is like the cherry on the top. It’s all about taking a break from your daily hustle and enjoying the nature at its raw form. The service is top notch. If there is a concern about the food since the location is isolated, they have taken utmost care to serve you the best for whatever you ask. The perks of staying here is the personal care of each guest that the resort manager and the staff looks up to. Coming to why we had planned to pick Jawai, is cause of my husband’s love for wildlife and safaris. For the 2 nights that we stayed, we could take 3 safaris, and we were lucky enough to have good sighting of leopards. Apart from the leopards, the bird sighting too is fabulous. Had the most unique experience of a game drive after being to all the best safaris in the world. The rangers just very casually take you up on the steep rocky hills for a great sighting of leopards. In and all, an amazingly different experience!

Our stay at Amritara Jawai recently, was a perfect example of great hospitality at such a remote place. We thoughoruly enjoyed our stay. The entire team and staff is very courteous and hard working. Food, oh my god, you can't imagine such a tasty food with good spread available at this location. All thanks to the chef Narayan. The entire team, Dinesh, Suresh, Prakash and Pravin were very helpful. God bless all of them. Keep doing good work.

I have been to Jawai many times and have stayed at other properties. This time our stay at Amritara was exceptionally good. We could not have asked for more, the whole team made our stay a memorable one we would cherish always.
1. I don't think any better location for the lake view exists in the area and around. The evening sunsets are the most mesmerizing.
2. Food was also very tasty and as per our preference, loved all the items chef had prepared for us. Narayan ji Chef has magic with his cooking, and hence yummy meals! Also KP singh ji and Aakash ji from the service team at the restaurant were very accommodating and fast with their service.
3. Service was also exceptional with the staff always ready to help. Prakash ji from the housekeeping team was always there to help us though-out our stay, With whatever we needed from hikes to the temple, to walks to the rocky hills around the lake, to the setups laid by the team etc.
4. Extra efforts by the team by setting up different meal venues with panoramic views of Jawai. Ghanshyam ji from the front office along with his team were very kind to arrange these surprise setups.
Would like to thank all the team for this memorable stay, we will soon be coming back.

Sadly for stay in this resort resident Indians are not much welcomed here as much as foreigners even if you have booked highest category of rooms and paid as much as foreigners. We had stayed here for 2 nights from 2-4 April 2024 and booked 2 rooms called paradise view on the first floor with views of the Jawai dam. First up the manager only surfaced from his slumber and got the staff working by cleaning the pool, removing leaves which were strewn around the property only when a group of foreigners who had booked 2 or 3 rooms and were clearly part of group tour were supposed to arrive. Before that when we arrived the rooms were not used and had dust all around and had big fat lizards which clearly showed not much cleaning had taken place. As we were tired after drive from Udaipur airport and had afternoon safari and returned at the resort by 8:30 pm there was no one to complaint. The manager was not present at all so we left a word with people who at the restaurant. Next morning after returned from safari things were moving fast with lots of cleaning and then we learned from the cleaning boys that foreigners are arriving that’s why they are cleaning up.
Food was strictly okay with laal maas served only with bones and meat for guess whom ! Even the paneer ans chicken tikkas were rubbery ans chewy so we made do with dal rice and veggies.
When you are treated like this all other good things come to naught. very important that this review is published to that Indians know what they are getting for their money.

Jawai Bandh is a to-do location if you're looking for a small getaway with friends and family. The landscapes throughout the day are mesmerizing. Amritara is a good choice of property, they serve homely food, have friendly staff, and also give arrangments for safaris (you can book your safaris from outside if you want cheaper options), they also provide a pool if you're looking to relax at the stay. Cycles are also available at the property if you want to ride in or around the location. A good time to visit would be December-Start of march!

We travelled to this property during Diwali 2020. It is located in a sacred village in Jawai, Rajasthan. There are certainly other properties in the same village but this property is recommended above all of them as this combines everything perfectly like location, food, staff etc . Following are pros and cons of the property
PROS: 1. The whole staff of the property was really very friendly. They were always on their toes to serve us and to make our experience better. I specifically mention Vishweshwar Ji, Property Manager who always ensured that we are being served well.
2. During our stay, each day, chef came to us and ask for our priorities for food we need to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All three meals were amazing and tasty. Don't expect too many variety of items (like a 5 star hotel) but whatever item they serve was very tasty and hot served always.
3. Location of the property is amazing. We specifically requested for rooms on first floor which has a view overlooking Jawai Dam (Image attached). Also, property is situated just besides a big mountain which also increases the overall beauty of the property. Trust me location of the property is stunning.
4. The property has a specific spot for partying at night (which is like 100 meters away from property) where hotel staff makes all the arrangement like camp fire and serving our liquor. That place is out of the box and blew our mind. Nevertheless, leopards roam around the property at night so we were only allowed to party up to 10 PM. Still that experience was worth every moment.
5. The rooms were clean and big with huge balcony with a splendid view of mountain and Jawai dam.
Overall, my experience was amazing and I definitely recommend this property for the adventurous leopard safari on motorable mountains.
CONS: 1. Property provides dongle for internet connection but majority of the time it is not working properly. I do not consider it a serious con as services of the majority of telecom provider are not available all the time in this area (except Jio working amazing). I personally felt good as I had a digital detox during my stay on account of non availability of internet.
2. There was no intercom facility in the property so every time I had to go outside the room to search for network and then dial direct mobile numbers of Manager and Asst Manager. Nevertheless, their help was quick but an intercom facility would definitely help better.
There are no other CONS whatsoever in the property.
We were group of 7 persons and we all enjoyed our stay.
I hope my detailed review will help the travelers to know and enjoy this property.

Beautiful property at an exclusive location. You will not get this type of experience anywhere in Jawai at this cost. The value at amritara is unbeatable. Rooms are clean, comfy and warm in the winters. Excellent shower. Service is quick and attentive, the manager at the property manager Dayal Singh is a great host. Compliments to the chef, food was delicious and he even catered to our specific requests and provided authentic rajasthani cuisine without it being too heavy. Safari through the resort was worth it, they have access to a piece of private land within jawai that is home to a lot of leopards. We may have gotten lucky but we saw 5 different leopards in one evening. Our driver Bharat was an expert. One of the leopards was within 500m of the resort, pics below show how close we got to it. Wildlife at the property is bustling, with langurs, and cows often traversing near or through the property, and enough birds to keep an enthusiast busy for days. We also spotted crocodiles by the lake. And of course there is always the looming presence of the king of these jungles…the leopard.

February 2020 Mother (80) & daughter trip in Rajasthan A year ago this was another tranquil place we visited. It hadn't been on our list until I mentioned seeing leopards for first time in 2019. We had the place to ourselves for a while and we were looked after sooooo well by Vishveshwar and his team. Everything was kept simple but managed exquisitely. I appreciated seeing that there was a vegetable & fruit patch to be able to source locally and was lovely meeting the chef there choosing what to put in the meals for later! We told Vishveshwar that the leopards and animals would have to appear in the evenings only as we were hopeless in mornings. The first night we ate outdoors next to an open fire. I'm not quite sure how he managed it but somehow cajoled us into waking up in the mornings and the scenery and sounds were dreamy enough but having a picnic laid out on the car bonnet was just sublime whilst watching the birds flying over to roost for the night or the fishermen. We saw one young leopard and Vishveshwar shared what he knew about him. The piece de resistance was seeing another leopard at dusk which surprised us all - the silhouette was stunning! Not having a great camera meant I didn't get the best of photos and Vishveshwar was kind enough to give me some that he'd done another day with a quality camera. Unexpectedly saw flamingos on the last morning too. I think Mum really loved being in the open top jeep and being driven up and down hillsides - I kept looking at her and she was grinning lots! The place and the pool were spotless! You could tell the whole team really wanted to have it always looking at its' best! Dhanyawad!

Right from the start , everything about the place just gives you the right vibes. Fantastic place to visit! Beautiful views from hotel rooms in a secluded setting Narendra was most welcoming with excellent knowledge and he and the staff looked after our every needs So polite and courteous ! Nothing was too much. The safari trips were amazing and the sighting of a leopard was truely wonderful. Also the beauty of many birds on the serene lake was a sight to remember for many years. All food was perfectly presented and deliciously made on site 😁 It’s just an amazing place with perfect hospitality.
