Although a very handy base for visiting Tenby, Saundersfoot and further afield, the location itself is stunning. Anna and Chris, the owners have small but entertaining menagerie of two alpacas, two sheep and a number of chickens who are kept as happy as their guests opposite the accommodation . It is obvious they care about their guests and will do their best to make sure you have a comfortable stay.
Due to the Covid situation a continental breakfast is delivered each day to the room having been chosen from a menu the day before. Presently this include the options of bacon, sausage rolls with vegan options. What we received was tasty and of very good quality.
When we booked this I was a little unsure as the reviews are so good., but now having stayed I am pleased to add to them, Certainly a B&B " but not as we know it!" We will return!!!!
The breakfast pre ordered the evening before was delivered to the room in a basket and was a great start to the day with the bacon, sausage and egg baps a favourite.
We were so fortunate to have brilliant weather and it was lovely to wander outside and see the alpacas, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and even a black swan. The alpacas and sheep really enjoy biscuits and were so gentle when taking them from our hands.
They have separate outdoor tables and chairs for each room where we enjoyed breakfast on a couple of mornings.
Whenever Mel delivered the breakfasts, she was accompanied by Coco - a lovely friendly little dog who stole everyone's heart.
Mel's parents, the owners, were on a brief holiday when we arrived, but we did meet her Mum, Anna on our last morning and she and her friend who helps out were delightful too.
Thank you for the lovely welcome and manner you looked after us.
The Horsemanstone is a truly great retreat in a beautiful locality with lovely towns and villages to visit and a variety of superb walks.
We definitely recommend.
The actual property was cleaner than some 5* hotels we had previously stayed at.
We would normally stay away from anywhere that offered a breakfast hamper rather than a full cooked breakfast but we were both blown away by the quality of the produce and the hot breakfast roll was the best I'd had with fresh eggs being the highlight.
Having met Anna who is extremely friendly and clearly does it for the love rather than solely a business we felt at ease and had a few chats between the downpours and got the impression nothing would have been too much trouble had we of asked.
The only negative is that they don't accept dogs because of their animals which is understandable as we would have returned in a heartbeat. Also the location close enough to access the main roads although just far enough to not hear road noise makes it even more of a gem.
Definitely recommend if you're after visiting Tenby or surrounding areas.
The rooms are large and well-equipped with their own private entrance and terrace which overlook acres of land and friendly rescued animals.
There is a well-stocked kitchenette with a good sized fridge/freezer, plenty of kitchenware, a microwave, kettle, teatowel, tea/coffee, bottled water, biscuits and fresh milk each day.
The bathroom is also a good size with a large jet bath! The underfloor heating which is controlled independently was a real treat too.
The bed was king size and very comfy. Everything was immaculate and Anna provided fresh Towels everyday as well as attentive housekeeping.
A varied breakfast menu was offered daily at limited times to suit and served hot/cold to our door. Everything was delicious and eggs were fresh from the chickens! I highly recommend ordering the freshly baked croissants! 😋
Anna couldn't do enough to make our stay clean, comfortable and most enjoyable. She is a very friendly host and goes above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect as well as sharing useful tips and information about the surrounding area.
We cannot wait to hopefully return here in the spring/summer!
