Staying at Hostel Clandestino was one of the most adventurous and tranquil weeks of my life! I went into this vacation knowing it wasn't going to be luxury and was all about soul searching. It was just that. Not much to do other than chill on the beach and meditate. I loved every minute. Is this experience and place for...

This hostel provided us with five wonderful and unforgettable days at the Playa Maderas. Situated at the top of a hill, beautifully surrounded by untouched nature- it only takes 10 mins to walk down to the beach. The hostel offers an unpretentiously warm and friendly atmosphere- and the volunteer Johanna was the best! She kindly gave us valuable recommendations and...

I'm leaving this late as we visited in January but I just read a bad review and really feel I need to say how immense our stay was! We actually ended up staying twice! Corina, Stefan and MArio were the most amazing hosts and when we were there Sam (SA) and Sam (Bedford) were cooking regular meals and being all...

Thank you Corinna and Stephan for having me at Clandestino. It was a real treat and it has been a pleasure getting to know Great vibes and people, I initially planned on staying 1 week at Clandestino and I stayed over 2. The layout and treehouse like structures are super cool and they make it feel like home. Nestled in...

Hostel Clandestino was simple, peaceful, and relaxing. My friend and I had a great getaway there, walking distance to playa madera but tucked away in the trees with birds and howler monkeys. I would recommend bringing groceries to cook a few meals. We just wanted to get out of San Juan Del Sur without stopping at the market, but it...

When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, I really thought: this place is ámazing and exactly what I was looking for! The peace, the silence, the view, the yogaspot. Corina and Steven/Stephan made really a great place. Clean as well, good showers. On Monday my thoughts about this place changed: there were workers from 7 till 4, even next to...

We stayed at this hostel for 4 nights to surf at Playa Maderas and relax about the hostel. The location is pretty good, a 10 minute walk up the hill from the beach. Our room was clean although some small bugs kept falling through the screen ceiling onto the bed. The bathrooms and showers were kept clean. The other guests...

We spent 5 nights in hostel clandestino and had an extraordinary time. We really enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the very welcoming owners. There was a kitchen we could use and the surfbeach was only a short walk away. I'm looking forward to coming back :).

It is a very nice hostal, located in the jungle, 5-10 min walk from the beach. There is a very nice yoga platform, launch area and open kitchen, the common areas are beautiful, made of wood with nice views. The shared dorm has just 4 beds, so it is ok, the bathrooms were always clean. The owners are a German...

Hostel Clandestino has an incredible atmosphere; a great mix between social and relaxing in comfortable yet natural setting. The open common areas such as the kitchen, yoga platform, and lounging/bar area were all really great places to hang out in. We stayed in a double private room which was spacious and comfortable with hammocks just outside our door on the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hostel Clandestino is a Hostel located at the famous surf beach "Playa Maderas" close to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. It was founded by the two friends Juan, from Chile, and Stephan and Corinna, who are from Germany, in the year 2012. Our hostel consists of some beautiful cabins, a refurbished VW-Bus, a kitchen, a lounge and yoga platform, overlooking the green canopy of the Nicaraguan jungle. It's only a ten minute walk to one of the best beach breaks in Nicaragua and about 9 km outside of the bustling beach town San Juan del Sur. Our hostel is perfect for hanging out in a hammock enjoying the amazing view and the untouched Central American nature but also for surfing, walks at the beach, hiking or horseback riding. You won't be bored because here is plenty of stuff to do: We can help you with organizing surf lessons at Playa Maderas, horseback riding etc. You can also watch the wildlife (howler monkeys, tropical birds etc.) hanging out in one of our hammocks or enjoy the beautiful sunsets. We offer our guests simple but comfortable and clean rooms. They all have access to spacey balconies which are equipped with chairs and/or hammocks. The prices include access to our community kitchen, potable water and coffee. We have rooms available for 1-4 guests. ... more   less
