The Kingscliff Hotel boasts a prime beachfront spot that guests love for scenic walks and ocean views. A welcoming atmosphere permeates the establishment, though some moments of neglect have been noted. While the hotel's cleanliness and room comfort receive commendations, there are calls for maintenance and upgrades. Service is generally hailed for being attentive, yet occasional lapses can occur. Mixed reviews surface regarding value, as some guests appreciate the meal deals but others find the service and food lacking for the price.

We had 3 nights at the Kingscliff Hotel, it was great to feel almost normal again after the lockdown, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was ample parking and check in was very smooth, we were told there would be no maid service during our stay but to please ask for anything you needed replenishing, we liked this as it made us feel the room was our own and you didn’t worry about people coming in and touching surfaces. We paid for a sea view room and as the sun was shining it looked lovely looking out to sea, there is an outside area and garden that we overlooked but the noise was never a problem and it was a lovely area to sit and have a drink. We were on a 3 night deal with meals. All 3 were absolutely excellent meals and very good quality. The cooked breakfast was served rather than buffet, I had the full English on the first morning which was huge but very nice, I just had eggs on toast the other two mornings. The restaurant and bar area are nicely furnished. One thing I would point out is that it is a very quiet area there is a small supermarket across the road and a couple of beach cafes but it is a drive/ long walk to the village Centre or to Clacton-on-Sea. We thought overall it was a lovely break and good value for money.

Booked for afternoon tea at Kingscliff which was actually a gift from our niece as a Christmas present. The afternoon tea was as good, if not better than one we experienced at the Waldorf Hilton in London a couple of years ago. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised and although this one was a gift, the afternoon tea and lunch and sandwiches appear to be good value. Do not live too far from the Kingscliff so will visit again either for lunch or afternoon tea. Kings cliff has been refurbished in recent years, but the toilet facilities could do with an upgrade or better cleaning or better attention to cleaning.

Stayed at the Kingscliff for 2 nights, comfy beds, food superb, friendly and very helpful staff that went the extra mile. Hotel was very quiet so slept very well. Free parking available on site so that was a big bonus.
My friend was celebrating her birthday, she has mobility problems so I hired a scooter for her, she found the hotel quite accessible for the scooter, able to access the garden and the front seating area so she could enjoy the sun and take in the sea air, while enjoying a drink.
Added the rooms were quite big, and the rooms had walk in showers with a slight step up which she could use easily.
The communication between myself and the staff before we arrived was very quick and efficient, which made our trip very enjoyable and we will return again

Came here for my birthday lunch this week, arrived to a fairly empty restaurant and on being taken to our table, pulled chairs out to find half a broken glass on the floor; and lots more other bits shattered around. This was quickly cleaned up when pointed out, but should have been cleaned as soon as the glass was broken on the floor.
Drinks arrived and had to change one of the glasses as was filthy and sticky.

Then our lunches arrived, 3 of us had fish and chips, when they came out; they were so overcooked and burnt. As my husband and dad were given there’s I said that is overcooked and burnt, and waitress ignored this comment. She Bought mine out which was just as bad. My mum had salmon, and the brocolli was so undercooked it was basically raw.
I sent my fish back as I couldn’t even cut the batter, the waiter agreed it shouldn’t have been served to any of us, as was clearly burnt. He Offered me a different dish, so I changed to a fish finger sandwich which was ok when arrived however by then my family had all finished theirs.
The waiter (jack I think)did everything he could to make things better, and didn’t charge for my meal, however none of us should have been served overcooked and burnt fish, or raw undercooked vegetables. There shouldn’t be broken glass left on the floor, and glasses should be checked that they are clean.
Unfortunately we left very dissapointed, which would have been bad enough on a normal day, but even worse on a birthday.

We booked a couples break in one of their standard rooms. The room was a family one so I guess they only have family rooms with a double and two single beds. This is not that romantic and I would have expected a hotel of this standard to have double rooms especially as that is what they advertise when booking.
The room was dirty with cobwebs across the ceiling and the lamp shade. (see pictures)
The person in charge of the restaurant had a mask but wore it incorrectly he clearly was not aware that you breathe through your nose and the mask should cover mouth and nose.
The menu was quite limited particularly for starters and desserts. The seating at breakfast did not allow any social distancing as we were put on a table were the continental buffet was immediately next to us.
On checkout they tried to charge us for items that were included in the package.
I think I will return to the Travelodge next time I visit.

Hi there, Thank you for your review and constructive feedback on your recent visit to us, I hope that you are well? Firstly, apologies that the room allocated was a surprise for you. We only have the 1 family room and the rest are doubles/ twins etc that are lovely also, we do sell the family room as a double when needed when we are full. I will pass your comments onto our reception team to ensure we are managing our customer expectations. Likewise with the cobwebs, our housekeeping team work tirelessly to ensure that our rooms are clean and up to standard, apologies on this occasion this was missed off the ceiling. This I assure you is not a regular occurrence. I have passed your comments over to the management team on shift regarding masks, all team have had adequate training on this and we have enforced this further now it is a legal requirement. Our menu is having a re-vamp and is being extended mid- October, I have taken these comments on board also. Our restaurant tables have been designed to take into consideration social distancing, all of which have been measured and are a safe distance from other guests as per guidance. Thank you again for your comments, I hope you give us another go in the future. Kind regards Hollie Manager

Last year for one week we accepted that we would have to carry out much of the required room service. We did not expect it again this year. We were told that we could request room service and we did - we were on holiday again for one week.

We had room number 1. Allegedly suitable for the disabled but it has many deficiencies which were drawn to the management's attention last year, nothing had changed. It required a deep clean. Whenever anything was moved from its initial location dirt and cobwebs could be found.

From the car park, the direction of approach for most guests, you are greeted by a row of trolleys with blue plastic baskets for the dirty linen. The two disabled parking bays are well sited but during our stay one was occupied for two days by dumpsters, finally removed after action was requested.

This establishment requires a manager with experience who would be able to identify the shortcomings and attempt to rectify them. Having the staff in uniform and providing training would help to raise standards.

The breakfast is good. Meals at other times can be variable. The menu is what one associates with pubs these days and there is very little variation between establishments. At the bottom end burgers at the top end steaks and not much in between.

This was our third visit. Would be stay again? Probably yes because the location suits us, it is brilliant. We wish that standards were higher.

I stayed at the Kingscliff for three nights in June and July 2021, having had my original booking the previous November cancelled due to you-know-what. Due to limited availability (and my pressing need to enjoy a few days away before the school summer holidays) I had to accept (and pay for) a Superior Sea View room, rather than the Standard room that I had originally booked. It was clean and comfortable but, having stayed there several times previously, I could not see in what way it was ‘superior’ to a Standard room!

The food in the restaurant was, in general, very good although, on the third night, I had to send back a Steak that was not cooked the way I had ordered it (the kitchen’s second attempt was spot on). My Full English Breakfast the next morning was slightly overdone (and the Hash Brown was shaped like a Fish Finger which, for some reason, I actually found quite amusing)! Breakfast the previous two mornings was done perfectly (I suspect that the third one was waiting for a customer, as it arrived immediately that I ordered it).

My dinner on both the second and third nights took a long time to arrive but, on the plus side, the staff were very friendly and did what they could to help. As a case in point, I was given dessert ‘on the house’ as compensation for my overdone Steak; I didn’t ask for this, but it was greatly appreciated! A minor problem with my room that I brought to their attention was also fixed, even though I said that it could be left until after I had checked out.

In fairness it should be mentioned that my third night was a Friday, the first time that I have stayed there on that day of the week. I suspect that they really need a few more staff to cope with the demand at peak times.

All of the above quibbles were extremely minor in nature and in no way detracted from my overall enjoyment of the experience. We Britons are notorious for not complaining, but the staff are not mind readers and they can’t be expected to resolve issues that are not brought to their attention!

I would continue to recommend this place to anyone wishing to spend a few days in this part of a much (but unfairly) maligned county. Who needs the Costa del Sol when you can go to its English translation , the Sunshine Coast? 😎

Called the hotel to book a room, the lady was so helpful as I had questions about the room due to being with a family member with reduced mobility. As there isn’t a lift she suggested the family room on the ground floor.
When we arrived it was a Speedy efficient booking in process with good information re Covid guidance. Hand sanitiser was plentiful. Room was spotless, it was a warm night and the room was hot but a fan in the room if we had wanted to use it.
We decided to eat in the restaurant, wasn’t overcrowded, apparently a reduced menu but we were happy with the menu choices and something for everyone. Food was fabulous. Breakfast the next morning was just as good.
Would certainly visit again, just a short walk from the quiet clean beach. Parking plentiful and lovely staff.

We arrived for short two night break at this hotel ,which was in a brilliant position on the sea front with local shops ten minute walk away. it is in a ideal spot to visit Clacton or Frinton its in a good place for lovely walks for long walks along nice sandy beaches. On our arrival we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a sea view room ,the beds were very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and also toiletries in the en suite shower . Lots of choices for breakfast ,especially the homemade porridge which was delightful . The staff very friendly and helpful and always fulfilled any requests we had

Modern looking hotel on the inside with nice seating areas and a bar, plenty of parking outside, rooms spacious and comfortable, good beds and nice size bathrooms. We stayed here with our daughter and her boyfriend, my husband and myself and our two young sons, 14 and 9, thus we occupied 3 bedrooms, for 4nights. We were all located near each other which was nice. No room service due to Covid, but you can request everything you need.

The location is absolutely perfect, cross the road and you are on the beach, large and long stretches of white sand and beautiful sea. Around 30min walk to the Clacton centre.

Breakfast was slow during the first 3 mornings and by the time we got down at 08.45(breakfast served only till 09.00 which in my eyes is quite early when on holiday) , croissants and muffins were gone and not re stocked. English breakfast was good, but nothing else so variety lacked. Yogurts and fruits would have been nice, as not everyone likes English breakfast every morning. The last morning, we were served quick and efficient however, which was nice.
We had dinner at the hotel x1 evening which was lovely and service good.

Room 17; shower poor and did not work. I told the staff and luckily the bathroom also had a bath, thus was still able to wash properly.
