We stayed for one night while visiting family in the area. It is an ideal place to stay and use as a base to travel out. A very warm welcome on arrival, shown to our lovely clean bright room which didn't disappoint. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. The best bit was waking up to the sounds of the sheep...

We stayed at Pilleth Oaks B&B 18th -21st Feb 2017 as a base for touring around Presteigne and Knighton area. Stayed based on other good reviews and the place did not disappoint. Heather and Peter are good hosts and are very knowledgable about local places of interest and history. The site of one of Owain Glyndwr's battles is within spitting...

The rooms were very comfortable - nice touches like binoculars to make the most of the views. Breakfast was excellent - ingredients were fresh and tasty and the muesli was the best I've had. The setting is amazing - we were able to walk straight out of the door into the beautiful Welsh countryside and listening to the sheep as...

Clean, warm and tidy rooms which was great but the lady owner didn't seem to like the fact that we were working in Knighton when the work could have gone to 'locals'. She made that quite clear as we left ! The breakfast was great but no WIFI as the line was down and there was no mobile network due...

We stayed at the Pilleth Oaks as we were attending a wedding in the area. Heather kindly agreed to let us check in early so we had somewhere to change. The house from the outside is beautiful and when you walk in it just feels homely. We stayed in the Blue room which was gorgeous and the view from our...

If you want to totally unwind in a peaceful rural setting with impeccable attention to detail and a fabulous breakfast look no further. The views of the Welsh countryside are visible from every window. There is total peace and quiet and there are lovely walks in the area where you will be alone with the sheep. We stayed here for...

A stay at Pilleth Oaks is a wonderful experience. The house is situated on the side of a hill with glorious views across the valley, and a lake with ducks and wildlife. Watching the sun rise over the rim of the hills is very special. Four of us from Bucks visited the area to catch up with a friend who...

Purpose built about 11 years ago this beautiful house, beautifully appointed, with choice pictures, ornaments, thick carpets, luxury hangings, and luxury bathroom with thick towels, is a place to spoil yourself on a visit to unspoil and little known mid-Wales. There is double glazing so your room will be very quiet despite being by a major road, yet you can...

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate a family Christening and it is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Each of the three rooms are different in style but all our spotlessly clean with lovely furnishings and views to die for. There is a beautiful sitting room that guests can use, again, with stunning views...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pilleth Oaks is a new house which has been purposely built to provide quality accommodation, as well as character, with 2 Double and 1 twin bedded room, all en suite. Built on the site of the Battle of Pilleth 1402, the area is steeped in history. The house is on an elevated site with stunning views of the Lugg Valley. Guests can enjoy breakfast al fresco (weather permitting), a pre-dinner drink or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of beautiful surroundings on our terrace/balcony accessed from both the lounge and dining room. Presteigne, 5 miles away, formerly the Assize town, now boasts an award-winning living museum, The Judge's Lodging, and is well worth a visit. The area is one of the few dark sky areas which makes it the idea base for The Space Guard Centre on the hillside overlooking Knighton. Every kind of outdoor pursuit is available locally including many local waymarked walks and we are on a cycle route. ... more   less
