We stayed for 3 nights and had the most wonderful time. Each night at dinner (which was delicious - must try the coconut curry!), the girls would help us plan what we wanted to do the next day. They helped us arrange scuba diving, a coastal walk at Lavena, and a kayaking to the small islands off the shore from the property. It’s the perfect place to stay if you want to just relax by the water but also has plenty of activities that can be arranged :) Bula vinaka!!
The team at Coconut Grove make you feel very special. This is a great place to relax and feel pampered. Authentically local experiences are easily accessible. Tasty food. Lovely accommodation. We had a great time!
5 stars is not enough for this amazing resort! Your own private bure ( cabin) on the beach is everything you could want for comfort and feeling you are truly in Fiji. The warm and friendly staff is a perfect mix of completely available to take care of your any needs but also non-intrusive. Their culinary skills are wonderful and everything I ate there was truly delicious and nurturing. Fresh caught fish daily, fresh fruit smoothies and beautiful salads were all delicious. Don’t miss taking their sea kayaks out to a private beach where the most beautiful reefs and sea life await your discovery while snorkeling. A pod of spinner dolphins jumped and swam around my kayak on my paddle out. I really can’t recommend this resort enough to truly experience Fiji at its best.
Coconut Grove is incredible! We spent almost a week here and had the most amazing time. The beautiful bule we stayed in was right on the waters edge and very private. The outdoor shower was a treat! The staff here are the best we have come across anywhere. From the amazing food we had during our stay at the restaurant on site, to the complimentary massage on the beach, to organising day trips etc, nothing was too hard. And so incredibly friendly, we really enjoyed sitting in the restaurant and having a laugh with Bui and Esther! Could not rate Coconut Grove high enough.
It is the most incredible place to stay, has the best food on the island, and the most friendly and caring staff. The comfort of the room is wondrous, with gladdening beddings, excellent ventilation, and outstanding cleanliness. As the bures are very close to the beach, the sound of the waves while sleeping at night is soothing and satisfying. The bures have a regular supply of tea, coffee, water, and toiletries. You will find the beach is like at your doorstep. One of the most important highlights is that the electricity is supplied 24/7. This place is definitely heaven on earth.
We stayed in the Banana Bure, which is one of three bures with this one being closest to the Ocean. We arrived at Matei airport and Coconut Grove arranged for the very short transfer by taxi, operated by AJ, who we used several times during our short stay. Our welcome at Coconut Grove was memorable with the two staff on duty singing a traditional Fijian welcome song as we started our COVID checking procedures. We were quickly shown to the bure and followed this with a light salad lunch. In the afternoon we just chilled on the beach to start recovering from several busy weeks in Suva and to plan our expeditions over the next few days. Dinner was good, with local fish Walu and fresh vegetables. Apart from breakfasts these were the only two meals we had on-site as there other dining options within a 20 minute walk. The next morning and after a substantial continental breakfast of granola, fruits and banana bread we made our way by taxi to the village of Lavena to start a two hour coastal walk to the Wanibau Waterfalls. The guide Gabriel and his son David took great care of us. We returned by boat via a triple waterfall to meet our taxi. During our stay we also took trips to the Rainbow Reef for snorkelling and a tour of the island to the Blow Holes and meridian with AJ. Although many of the roads are not sealed the scenery more than makes up for it. Coconut Grove provides snorkeling off the shore with a 20 minute swim to soft corals or kayaking to the nearby islands with soft corals off "Island 3". The Bure is well equipped with all louvred windows, ceiling fan and powerful desktop fan. If you want a/c there is an extra charge to run the generator. The bure also had all the toiletries you require and a constant supply of tea, coffee or water from the ever present and helpful staff. Adjacent to the restaurant that looks out onto the ocean there is a small gift shop and library, carefully watched over by Biscuits the cat and Tenzie the dog. A relaxing and enjoyable stay with plenty to see and do on Fiji's third largest island that is also known as the "Garden of Eden" due to the excellent growing conditions in a truly tropical environment…
And nicest staff. Amazing time! Loved this place! They were so welcoming and friendly and squeezed us in last minute. They were very accommodating to our needs, cleaned the rooms beautifully, and made it a really nice stay
I could not - in good conscience - suggest you do anything else with your money other than booking a stay at Coconut Grove right now. My partner and I had one of the best weeks of our lives here. The bures are completely fit for purpose and are brilliant places to wake up in the morning. They are well-ventilated, have awesome outdoor showers and exhibit beautiful ocean views! The restaurant is literally world-class. We ate about 20 meals straight there because we had absolutely no desire to eat anywhere else. The way they cook seafood, curries and fresh Fijian veggies is simply extraordinary. The staff are just the kindest and most talented people you will ever meet. Thank you so much for making our stay the best time ever. It was my partner's birthday on this trip, and she was treated to the most amazing candlelit dinner on the beach, with an amazing prawn curry, a delicious banana birthday cake and a beautiful flower arrangement, all thanks to Coconut Grove! Make sure you walk to the third Bouma waterfall (it's the best) and ask to go on the boat with Varun. And go snorkelling straight off the resort - you won't believe what's under the water. Book this place now - it is heaven on earth!…
I’ve traveled to 20+ countries and Coconut Grove offered some of the best service I have ever received. Everyone working there is incredibly kind and helpful. We didn’t have to worry about anything, the staff was always helping us arrange transportation, managing our dietary restrictions, and setting up our COVID compliance tests. The restaurant is excellent, we opted in for the meal plan, and we especially loved the lunch curry with shrimp, fresh fruit smoothies, and the ice cream with freshly shredded coconut on top. The packed lunch for our day in Bouma was top-notch as well. The Banana Bure was very comfortable, and it sits very close to the ocean. This seems to be a unique feature for this resort for hotels in a similar price range on Taveuni. Everything was very clean and we stayed plenty cool at night with the overhead fan. Don’t hesitate, just book here!…
Our experience at Coconut Grove couldn't have been better - it's an amazing place to stay. With just three bures, you're guaranteed privacy and absolute beachfront views. That said, the highlight of the trip was the amazing staff - Esther, Bui, Sara and co were so friendly and approachable, and able to assist with just about anything. From meal planning through to organising adventures to see waterfalls or snorkeling through beautiful coral reefs, they were always there to help. We were so sad to leave at the end of our stay! I can't recommend Coconut Grove enough, it's a really great way to see the beauty of Taveuni (and Fiji in general).
