We headed to Taveuni hopeful that we could find some cheap beach camping - it does not exist on the island. Beverly's do not offer it anymore, due I think to the resort next door on the beach. You can stay with Tila, up the hill and still only a few minutes walk from the beach. Tila is lovely and you can eat with her if you pay for meals or cook yourself in the kitchen. It is a little isolated but there's full mobile coverage if you have a SIM card. Supermarket is 20 mins walk away in Matei (Sun City is the best) and nearest 'town' is Waiyevo $20 cab ride. It's the only ATM on the island. The room is small and basic but if you're on a budget it's fine. You can get a bus to Bouma waterfall and Lavena coastal walk.

Spent a week here camping in the tents with my friend. You fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up a few metres from the ocean. Great prices, great food and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend staying here - thank you so much for our stay!

A wonderful experience for budget and backpacker travellers. A communal kitchen and ablutions, but a choice of bure, tents right on the water and a dorm room. We stayed in the "dorm", but our younger friends all had tents on the water - they provide the tents and mattresses and linens etc. Gee, it is vaue for money!!! Great value and only a short walk to a fabulous cafe on top of the hill - sunsets, red wine and pizzas a must! They can organise anything you want to do. You've gotta come here!!

Campground just right on beach. Host, Tila is a lovely lady, like to talk with her during the stay. When it's high tide, fish coming; it's good timing for fishing just right in front of the camp. 3 buses passing a day on weekday, and it's easy to hitchike to town as well. Here is not just the best in Taveuni, but in Fiji!

I went on December 2015 to spend Christmas with my friends. The campground is run by a lovely lady called Tila. She gave us a good price for a private room. This campground has all the basics: clean room, drinkable tap water, flushing toilet, fridge. It's right next to the beach with decent coral very close to the shore. We met Tila's lovely family which was really nice. They made us feel very welcome. I recommend it for travellers on a budget.

If you dream with listening the waves breaking when you go to sleep, this is your place. And you can have meals over the water as the veranda is on top of the water when is high tide. The tent provided is big and has an extra cover. So you can leave stuff outside and does not get wet. There is not hot water and the shower is in the same place as the toilet. Electricity only for a few hours, from 6pm to 10pm. Keeping food for a few days in the fridge is difficult, but you can use the freezer. They have three or four dogs and a cat. Better if you like animals. The dogs slept very close to my tent a few times. Shops are just 10min walk from the campground, like the airport. The wharf for the ferry is 30min by bus. It is very basic but also very cheap. And Tila and her grandson Sepo are very friendly.

Beverly's is the perfect place to stay in Taveuni! Don't expect luxury, but great value, the best beach in Matei, good location, wonderful service and a peaceful atmosphere. Tila and her grandson Sepo are wonderful hosts. The tents were wonderful with the waves at your doorstep and only $17pp per night. There are two single mattresses inside and Tila will give you plenty of sheets and blankets. There's a well equipped kitchen, just bring some food from Naqara or walk to the shop in Matei. The bus stops right out the front going to Naqara and another to Lavena, however they don't run many times a day, so you have to plan ahead. Tila will bring you plenty of fresh fruits each morning or you can pick some fruits on the roadside. The bathrooms are clean and there's no hot water, but that's camping and it's so warm you don't need it. The weather was fantastic for the whole stay, with just a couple of light showers of rain. The dogs Emmy and Zoro will provide plenty of amusement and often join you for a swim and if you can bring them a can of fish they will love you for it. Taveuni Dive is close by in Matei and I definitely recommend their snorkelling and manta ray trips. Overall Beverly's is a wonderful place to stay with real Fijian hospitality. Thank you Tila and family. I hope to be back someday soon

I was there for the first time in September of 2009. Returned a second time on September 2013. If you are looking for a pampering style hotel, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking to have a beach for yourself, relax and have a perfect location to explore from, this is it. Walking distance to Matei, the airport and within the best strip of beachs on the island, the location is ideal. Tila, or as most people know her, Grandma is the sweetest lady in the world. She lost her husband Bill, who used to manage the place a couple of years ago but she is still doing a great job in keeping it up as a simple, affordable option for a place to stay on Taveuni, where most of these options are slowly going away. Tila still offers free fruits from her family garden every day, bananas, Papayas and cucumbers are available for free. the kitchen is well equipped and the environment is always quiet and relaxing. By the way, the snorkeling in front of the campground is still one of the best in the world, despite the Typhoon damage from coupe of years before. you can also rent a kayak next door and paddle to neighboring beachs Thanks Grandma for everything, i miss you...

Beverly Camping is truly a home away from home. Set on an idyllic stretch of beach at the Northern end of Taveuni, Beverly's is only 5 minutes drive from the airport, 30 minutes drive from the ferry port, and is perfectly positioned for day trips to many of the famous tourist sights, including the International Dateline, Waitavala Waterslides, and the Tavoro waterfalls in Bouma. The campsite itself is owned and run by a local Fijian lady named Tila, and with the help of her young grandchildren, provides a clean, well equipped kitchen facility, generator-powered electricity for a few hours a day, and an open plan lounging/dining area on a beautifully painted deck overlooking the ocean. There is plenty of space next to the beach to pitch around four or five tents and Tila will supply mattresses and bedding if needed. There are basic shower/toilet facilities overlooking the beach and a convenient outside sink for hand washing clothes. Or, for a little more comfort, the campground provides a good sized dormitory room, perfect for backpackers, with a bunk bed and double bed. Pay a little extra for the private room, ideal for couples, housing a double bed, single bed and wardrobe. Both rooms share a clean indoor bathroom with separate shower, toilet and sink area. After a long day travelling around Taveuni, there is no better way to spend your afternoon kayaking or snorkeling right in front of the campground. (Equipment available to hire from the Dive Shop next door). Or go for a leisurely swim and watch the sunset before heading back to the deck to make dinner. The site is 2 minutes walk from Restaurant Tramonto, suitable for pizza lovers or those in need of a beer, and 5 minutes drive (25 mins walk) in the other direction will take you to Matei and the nearest grocery store and bakery. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere will undoubtedly make you want to extend your visit. I have stayed here twice in the last 4 months, first with friends, then with my boyfriend and I can honestly say that few places on Taveuni can top the warm, friendly atmosphere and great value for money that Beverly Camping creates.

When I was on a university exchange year and was based in Suva, this was our favourite place to go in holidays. The owners are friendly and bring down fresh fruit in the mornings. This is truly the best place to get back to basics and nature, best memories of this place ever!
