Luis , the owner, was very gracious and informative about the small town of Optional, the Olive Ridley nesting and restaurants. We stayed in number 4 (there are four rooms in one building). Everything worked, especially the AC - it was hot and humid there. There is an instant electric hot water heater, and a warm shower was appreciated. There...

A hidden gem! We were warmly greeting upon arrival by the owners Veronica and Luis. Luis escorted us to our room and was very happy to see us. We stayed here for only one night (wish I could have stayed longer) while we came to see the turtles nesting at night (will talk about this in another review). The room...

From the moment Veronica and Luis greeted us at the front gate of their property, we new we would have a wonderful time at Turtle Lodge Ostional. The owners have huge hearts and their sense of welcome is palpable. To stay in a tropical cabina on stilts-- a tree house-- was a dream of mine. The treehouse is delightful, and...

In early March we stayed at Ostional Turtle Lodge in search of...turtles. It was supposed to be the perfect time to see them and as it turned out was, though we didn't see any turtles. We did see a lot vultures which seemed odd. But more about that in a bit. Finding the hotel was a monumental chore and took...

This is an out of the way family owned hotel. The “town” it is located in has a few small places to buy basic food. I would recommend bringing food. It was a long bumpy ride to get there but I was there for the turtles. The best thing about the lodge is you could walk to the beach, which...

Highly recommended! We loved our stay at The Ostional Lodge. They work hard at being environmentally friendly and you can tell everything was painstakingly hand made, we especially loved the canopy with the billowing curtains and wood tables.. We loved it here! We dont mind the wildlife surrounding the lodge. Infact, we were looking hard for it! Saw some crabs...

Being in the center of natures glory, tucked in between mangroves and beach, The OstionalTurtle Lodge was beyond cool! The dark night, thousands of stars, we saw hundreds of turtles laying their eggs. I have lived in Nosara for years now but we decided to go for a close by stay-cation to catch the event. Such a delight to be...

We stayed 2 nights in the Chalet at Ostional Turtle Lodge and it was very pleasant. The comfort is basic but you have everything you need (including air con!), and it's not what you're looking for where you go there. We had a very unique piece of Nature staying there. Nice black/white sand beaches, beautiful sunsets & monkeys. If you're...

I suspect knowing what you're getting yourself into greatly affects your experience at this place. I was booked here by a travel agent. I viewed the Ostional Turtle Lodge's website before arrival, and really feel the photos didn't represent my room at all (see my photos). This place was listed on my itinerary as a hotel, it is not. It...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review; we are neither a Hotel or a Hostel. We are listed under Specialty Lodging. A Lodge is by most definitions an accommodation in a rustic area. The Ostional Wildlife Refuge is nesting grounds to three different types of turtles and hatchling place for millions of baby turtles a year. It is made out...
