I had business in Blandford early morning, so traveled down the evening before and stayed here. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The Charlton is a "proper pub", with a healthy number of locals enjoying themselves, but it also serves excellent food which would not be out of place somewhere marketing themselves as a gastro-pub. Having dropped my bag... More

Arranged to meet friends here for lunch and booked a table. Food was average (burgers were well overlooked) but the service was very poor. They were busy but there was no sensible system in place so it took a long time to both order and then pay at the end. Shame as it's been done up nicely but I doubt... More

I stayed here with my partner for a long weekend, was greeted by a lovely smiley young girl, we needed to check in early and they were very accommodating with this, the young girl escorted us to our room, room 6 and was very helpful and gave us lots of information about local sight seeing and country walks when we... Booked a one night stay in the Carlton Inn whilst on business trip. Given keys to Room 6, which was extremely disappointing. The room does not smell very pleasant, blocked drain or damp? Poor value for money for a village Inn.

We stayed for one night at this hotel with a room in the stable block. The bed was uncomfortable, the room was in a poor state, loose toilet seat, rusty toilet brush cleaner. The floors creaked when anyone moved in the room above. No shower towels supplied. Vastly overpriced for a very basic not too clean room. The restaurant meal... More

Been meaning to eat here for ages, seeing as we live only a 5 minute drive away. Can't fault the staff, they were lovely and friendly,we were well looked after. We both had the pork belly which was delicious, just not a fan of veg coming out in separate bowls...felt it was rather a small portion.. Loved my huge piece of chocolate brownie... More

a group of 15 had a birthday lunch there last saturday. We were put in a separate room with the seats laid out in a "U" shape. A member of staff Hannah greeted us on arrival and she was exceptionally friendly. She couldnt do enough for us.... including where to go for an after dinner walk! (She is still at... More

If I could give this charming little dump a zero rating I would. Arrived early and had lunch at the inn, very nice - couldn't complain. We were staying overnight and were able to check-in early - "excellent " we thought. We were handed out keys and directed to our room, we thought we had struck a little gold-mine. That... More

This is actually a pub with rooms in a separate block at the back of the beer garden. The rooms are extremely small - I've never stayed anywhere before where the tea and coffee were in the wardrobe - and very basic, more at the level of a motorway services hotel. While the bed was comfortable, it became impossible to... More
