The beach is 450 mt. long, and mostly deserted as we only share it with one neighbour who lives on the other end.Huba Huba offers 2 bungalows only a few steps away from the beach and 2 Zen bathrooms where you will love taking your shower in the open air while facing the sea. Huba-Huba will offer two new family bungalows from middle of august with a capacity of 4 people (one big bed and 2 single bed) with a private bathroom. Many comfortable armchairs and cushions remain at your disposal in the restaurant/bar located a little higher up in the jungle. This is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the breath-taking surroundings. MANY MONKEYS lives around Huba-Huba :D !!!Huba Huba faces the west and offers the most spectacular sunset every evening. Detailed Reviews
I'm happy I took the time to eat here and enjoy the beautiful view. Decent prices and good food and drinks. The further you go away from the Robinson bungalows the better the food, the better the people, and huba is at the end of the beach😂

Beach amazing. Jungle amazing. Views of sunsets amazing. Food really good. Customer service perhaps not so much.
I feel a little unfair saying that because I spoke to many of the staff (mostly French volunteers) and they were lovely, and I really wanted to give them a good review. However, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that we were a very mild irritation. Something like a 2 out of 10 mosquito bite. Hardly worth a mention.
If they had voiced their feeling i imagine it something like this (in French of course). “Hi Guys, you know, we got this Frenchie thing going on, you know on the beach. And we’re all like volunteers, no pay or anything, so we’re like kinda on holiday too, you know. We can see you there, sitting in the restaurant, waving and looking hungry, but you know, we’re on a holiday too, so chill out a bit, smile, life’s a beach, hug each other more and do some yoga. I’m not actually looking at you now (or through you for that matter), I’m actually checking out the sun set, c’est formidable, by the way, you should look at it perhaps. It’ll stop you looking so tense.”
Sorry Huba Huba for not voicing this in person. A little more attention and you would shine, just like your beach!

Quite, beautiful and wild beaches. We really enjoyed everything: services, food... Amazing food was the highlight. BBQ honey pork ribs, prawns, red snappers, beef were so fabulous. We were 8 people, stayed 1 night and had a lunch & a dinner, total bill was around 250$ - quite cheap :)) Anyway, the only thing made us unforgettable were the way to get to Huba huba. This is also the 1st time we "go trekking" across the jungle. Super tired but we had fun together!!!
Give it a try!

I'm surprised to see so much good reviews, and a few describing an experience as horrible as mine. I guess I settled there at a bad moment. This place is a kind of russian roulette then : book at your own risk and cross fingers.
Here's my experience :
Huba Huba was both awesome and horrible. After an hour-long trek in the jungle to reach this side of the island, we discovered an incredible beach, too bad it was quite filled with garbage. We also discovered only at this moment that there was no running water in our - so called "family" - bungalow. No way to flush the toilet then, nor to take a shower, although the website and mail thread with the owner never mentioned anything.
Thanks guys.
Having a massive wound on the shoulder back then, it was quite disappointing to learn that I therefore wouldn't be able to swim in this turquoise water.
We ended up sleeping on the beach because it was extremely hot (no fan, no AC) and it stinked badly in the bungalow because of the unflushable toilet.
Thanks again guys.
We were also overcharged for the rent, because we were 6 so the forfeit fee/bungalow just switched to a more lucrative fee/person, with no notice at all before actual checkout and payment. Thanks again guys.
60USD for a room that we didn't even use and that doesn't have the strict minimum for proper hygiene standards seems quite expensive in my opinion. According to the owner it should even have been 70. Whatever.
Food was quite good though, despite being REALLY overcharged for Cambodia.
The owners being french, what could have actually been a real strong asset turned out being merely "OK".
But overall this part of the island is great. I mean, nature did her part of the job. And a great job. Gratitude. (real one this time)
The sunset is incredible there, the beach could be just like heaven if it was cleaned from time to time...
For a proper stay though, just head back to the other side of the island. There are free showers just a few steps away from a far more beautiful - and maintained - beach, and some nice restaurants with good and cheap food.
That would also save you 2 liters of sweat lost during the trek (even if you will do it anyways to watch sunset)
TL;DR
Go to this amazing island. Don't go to hazardous Huba Huba.

DISCLAIMER: Koh Rong Samloem is absolutely beautiful... white sands, clean turquoise sea and lush jungle. I don't want this review in any way to put people off visiting the island itself, and at the end of the review I have a recommendation of an alternative place to stay which is much nicer!
During our time in Cambodia, my friend and I decided to go to Koh Rong Samloem four days later. Considering the scarcity of accommodation on the beautiful island, we came up against, "We are fully booked," time and time again. Finally, we found Huba Huba whose prices were higher than others which we had tried, but as they were the only ones with rooms to spare at such short notice, we decided to book for two nights. The booking was made over the phone and we were advised to arrive at the Dive Shop in Sihanoukville on the morning of our stay and take the boat with them to the island.
The warning signal should have flashed up... Why is this place the only one on the island that is not fully booked at such short notice? We were about to find out.
Upon arriving, Vic, the owner, greeted us at the dock and accompanied me and my friend who had fallen victim to sea sickness to the resort a five minute walk through the jungle away. The facts of our stay are as follows:
1) There was no running water all day on our first day and night there, in spite of this not being explained to us before arriving. Not showering for two days actually didn't bother me too much because the ocean was so clear, and I can brush my teeth with bottled water. But when the toilets (all four of the communal ones) were quite literally FILLED with the excrement of the other customers, it all got a bit much.
2) Our room had no lock on the door and the door was not able to be locked with our own padlocks and bicycle locks brought from home. Instead, we were expected to either leave our valuables unattended in an unlocked room, or carry them around the island with us for the duration of our stay. This was particularly concerning when a friend of ours who works on the island explained that there had been an ongoing problem with a thief in the area of our resort for some months.
3) My friend, who has an allergy to gluten (she is celiac) was very disappointed with the sheer lack of options for her on the menu. She basically had a choice of plain salad, plain rice and an omelette. When she explained to Vic's female colleague that she would need her rice to be cooked with no soy or oyster sauce she was met with a look of irritation as if she was just being fussy. We also didn't like the fact that this particular member of staff was smoking whilst preparing the food.
4) The pathway to our bungalow was under construction during our stay which meant that during the day our (unlocked) room was being passed constantly by unknown construction workers who were noisy and invasive poking their heads round the door whenever it was open. Additionally, as we couldn't use the proper path, we were forced to walk through unkempt areas which we were unhappy to find were riddled with snakes.
5) We were irritated to find that in spite of specifically asking for their cheapest accommodation possible at the time of booking, and asking again upon arrival and being put in the $30 per night bungalow, there was in fact an abundance of $9 per night beds available in their dormitory accommodation.
The first night, we slept rather uncomfortably due to the lack of fan (or plug sockets for that matter) in the warm room, and basically decided that we didn't feel safe or comfortable with the Huba Huba resort. We decided that we would express our unhappiness to the manager in the hopes that as in any good resort we would be compensated appropriately. Our friends who were staying at a nearby $20 per night bungalow (which I will recommend at the end of this review!) had complained about the lack of running water as they, like us, hadn't been made aware that this would be an issue. In return they were granted a $5 per night discount and received sincere apologies. Plus, their resort managers ensured that there was a large bucket of water for hand washing and toilet flushing in each communal bathroom, and provided similar on the terrace of our friends' bungalow in order to allow them at least to rinse off after a hot day on the beach. We were hoping for a similar response... this is not what we got.
Upon complaining politely about the lack of water (and hence state of the toilets), the danger with having no lock on our door and the additional bother of the construction work on the path, the owner Vic became very defensive. His female colleague came over and began talking at us with a raised voice really rather aggressively and Vic walked away as if disinterested with unhappy customers.
I explained that it had not been made clear to us what a situation we would find at Huba Huba and as a result we would not be happy to pay the full price. At this point the female colleague began telling us that the policy states no refunds or no discounts, but considering the fact that we had never been given, emailed or recited a policy I felt that this was unfair.
Whenever something is not right, in a restaurant or hotel or whatever, I always feel it is important to give the managers an opportunity to fix the problem before coming to Trip Advisor to review a bad experience. The managers of Huba Huba were given plenty of opportunity during what ended up being an hour-long stand-off with them yelling at us and calling us 'stupid'. By this point my friend and I had packed our bags and decided to leave as we absolutely no longer felt safe.
As they insisted that they would not provide us with any form of discount, we explained that we would not be staying the second night, nor would we be paying for it. This is when Vic and his colleague really turned nasty. They began to insist that we could not leave without paying, and if we did they would call the police as we were 'stealing' and, "The Cambodian police don't like theives," growled Vic, menacingly. I was furious with being threatened this way. Furthermore we were then threatened that if we left the resort without paying for our second (as yet unslept as it was only 11am) night they would give our passport numbers to the police and we wouldn't be permitted to leave the country.
Honestly, I was furious and felt that Vic was 100% bluffing. I knew we had done nothing wrong. But my friend, who is probably a lot more responsible than me, insisted that we just paid and left. As we were leaving, Vic shouted after us, "I don't know why you have a problem... this is only the second time this has happened this year!" My friend made a good point, considering we are not even a quarter of the way into the year yet, Vic should hardly be bragging that we are not the first customers so unhappy with our stay that we need to be threatened and intimidated into parting with our cash.
HOWEVER, and here is my big spanner in the works... Koh Rong Samloem is lovely. Absolutely glorious. For the price of a $20 return boat, you can find yourself in paradise. Many people who I know through travel blogging who have already visited the island have preferred to go just on day visits due to the lack of spare rooms at short notice, but this may not be preferable for everyone, particularly those who get seasick.
If you would like to stay on the island I would absolutely recommend the place where my friends stayed named Robinson Bungalows. After our nightmare at Huba Huba we headed to Robinson for a drink and to regroup, and we were met by the friendliest staff! The atmosphere amongst guests was much nicer, the food in the restaurant was slightly cheaper and tasted much better than that which we had eaten at Huba Huba. We could see the bungalows from where we sat and each of them had secure padlocks on them. During a visit to the communal bathrooms I found them to be perfectly clean. As if all that isn't enough, a bungalow at Robinson will set you back just $20 per night ($10 cheaper than Huba Huba).
I won't allow the dictators of Huba Huba put me off the island, but I will be advising everyone I know to avoid them at all costs... The accommodation, food and bathroom conditions were bad enough but watching the manager and owner actively frighten us into handing over money which they have no business having was horrific.

Absolutely fantastic location and really lovely beach. Not too big and definitely not crowded, with only a few places to stay and eat. One of them is Huba Huba. We have originally booked Robinson bungalows, however as we wanted to get a bit more comfort towards the end of our holidays, we chose Huba Huba and their Deluxe room. This was a mistake. Firstly, there is nothing Deluxe about the room, so perhaps changing the name would be a good idea. The room was dirty. Literally dirty. It didn't look like anybody spend to much time cleaning it. On a positive note, the room did have proper walls, so felt a bit more secure.
Moving onto the charm... this place is owned by French people, so you naturally expect lot of charm. Wrong. There is no passion from the staff whatsoever, although few of them were lovely, they were just not right people to work in the hospitality industry. Few requests have been dealt with very poorly, there is no interest in assisting you at all. Just pay the money and don't request anything - that is the general feel of this place.
This place is for sale. Perhaps the new owners and staff will be more passionate. I have stayed in several places in Cambodia and this was by far the worst.

We planned our entire Cambodian honeymoon around the 4 nights that we had booked at Huba Huba because it looked so amazing. We booked our bungalow back in September and received a personal email from the Manager to confirm the booking and give us instructions on how to get there. We replied to the email to let them know how much we were looking forward to our stay.
When we arrived at the Dive Shop at 7AM to get the ferry to the island, the hotel manager found us and told us that she had overbooked the bungalows and had no accommodation available for us. She blamed a bad internet connection on the island but we had confirmed our booking 5 months prior so that didn't really hold up. She couldn't explain the error but she couldn't help us either. The only other accommodation on that beach (Robinson) was fully booked so there was no point even heading over to the island.
I understand that these things can happen but I would expect a little more effort by way of compensation. We were offered a meal at Huba Huba should we be able to find a way to stay on the island. If it were me, I would have arranged alternative accommodation for the guests that I had completely put out. Having checked out of our previous hotel and unable to check in anywhere else until 2PM, we were left to sort ourselves out in peak season at 7 in the morning. I was not thrilled.
I imagine Huba Huba is beautiful. I wish I knew for sure.

I stayd for a long time there, more than my holidays allowed me to, so i quit my job. And it was more than worth it. Owners and stuff are like family, who greet you with a big smile and a healthy attitude. You can defenatly say they made me feel right at home. i salute you, and wish you all the best! We were looking forward to our stay at Huba Huba, and they didn't disappoint. The island was fantastic! Booking.com gave us some problems with the booking, but the problem was sorted out quickly upon arrival. We stayed I one of the family bungalows for two nights, and the monkey bungalow for one. The food was fantastic, the hosts were very friendly and professional, and overall I would say this place is a must if you want to stay in a little piece of heaven while in Cambodia!
We will definitely be back!
The boat ride is really slow and long though, so pack some tunes!

+1
Huba huba was the chosen resort for us on this island. We had to stay at another resort on the same beach on our arrival as they were fully booked.
Huba huba ( pronounced ooba ooba ) is total bliss. We had booked a beach front bungalow with toilet / shower. This room had a big double bed and a room with double bunk beds. Easily accommodating 4 people. The bungalow is of good construction. There's a good mosquito net over the bed. The bungalow has two access doors, one of which leads to the resturant. The eating area is great. Very relaxed vibe and has a very good menu. Above this is a chill out zone
As everything arrives on this island by boat , there is occasional non availability. This is all part and parcel of island life though and didn't impact on our stay
We ate breakfast and dinner here. All food was great, tasty and value for money. The crepes especially !! Proper caffetier coffee was especially welcomed in the morning. There's a beach bar playing chill out music. Food is also served here over lunch time. Drinks were always well chilled to match the atmosphere. In the evening , we went to the beach bar first. During a pre dinner drink we ordered our resturant dinner. The staff radioed down when out food was ready so we could make our way up A top quality touch.
The staff are made up of a mix of French and Cambodian people. All charming , helpful and welcoming. Electricity was available to the bungalow from 5 pm - 10 pm each day.
Oobi the dog and a couple of cats add to the atmosphere here
There are two resorts in this side of the bay. Only accessible by a 7am boat departure from Sihanoukville. We went to the office to get the boat ticket the night before and also to pay for the room. The office is in the centre of snooky and is clearly marked "dive shop". It's next to the monkey republic bar
There are others in the same street but our driver helped us find the right one. Denis sorted out everything We also signed an insurance waiver for the boat journey. Some of the boat guests were going over to the island for a days diving only. On the morning of departure , we left at 7am prompt. Sea sickness tablets were offered as it can be a rough crossing. We then left by tuk tuk to the port taking 20 mins. Following a safety briefing , we commenced our 2h30 crossing to the island. This info above is the only way currently to get to huba huba. Two resorts share tuk tuk / boat transfer. They also share the same stretch of private beach. Most up todate info is on their website. Be sure to get there on time and take the right boat. Failure to do so may leave you having to trek through the jungle for 40 mins with your bags. - a Chinese couple arriving the day we left found out to their cost - it's not the best experience with heavy bags and hot weather.
. The check in / out times here are 9am to allow for the boat arrival times. They are happy to look after your belongings until the boat leaves here at 3pm for sihanoukville.
This resort is never ever going to be a hilton. It sticks to core beliefs of chiiling out , relaxing and enjoying life's basics.
Thanks to Tiffany , Vic and Guillime for a great stay.
Highly recommend

The hike is a 20 minutes long with signage along the way. Easy hike with tennis shoes....no boat but no worries!
The shared dorm rooms are less than $10 a night. You take the fast ferry which will drops you off on the east side of the island. A forty-five minute hike will take you to the west side of the island which is so much prettier and so less crowded. The beach here is so much nicer. I plan on returning!
