yes the beach has a wall - ugly but it gives you some comfort that you won`t get swept out to sea lol, there`s a nicer beach 10 minutes walk to the east (left if facing water). the snorkeling from the beach in the area...More

Friendly check in and bar staff, but after that I struggle. Beack was ok, but would be better without old coastal walk / walkway.
Limited cocktails, only rum based.

This hotel is considered one of the best beach hotels in Bay of Pigs area in Cuba. Unfortunately it is not even closer to good.
Rooms were large but very dirty with dirty bed linen. Toilets were big but the fittings were age old.

Hi, Playa Giron (PG) is not your glitzy Varadero resort. It's a typical Cuban rural town where you could have a glimpse of how the locals live. Where else in the world where people are not busy fiddling on their smart phone, with their heads down and absolutely ignore everyone? PR folks are very friendly, helpful, super nice and actually take their time to speak to you on the streets. I, a lone female, safely get around there day and night and lots of locals speak English as well!
Back in April, 2014 (when I was there), there was a week-long (?) carnival where at nights, everyone was partying, drinking and doing their wicked Latin moves, with a Cuban band playing. That was fun!
The Bay of Pigs area, where PR is located, is well-known for its water sports. The water is much warmer, the corals are much more vivid and the marine life much more plentiful than Varadero in the north any day (I did both). The sun tanning, diving, snorkelling, fishing, cave-exploring, etc. are superb and rival any Caribbean resort and at a fraction of the price! Do try Caleta Buena (CB),10 min. away by the daily bus leaving the PR Resort (speak to the front desk) and see this place with its amazing boat-diving (!) and fishing trips, out-of -this-world snorkelling and wonderful seafood restaurant! (Read my TA review)
Why do you think that after diving all over the world, I keep going back to PR/ CB?? BTW, March is the beginning of the Must-See Red Crab migration season in PR as well.
