We stayed in the Canopy studio, the room was very spacious and had everything you needed. The sea view was also incredible.
We were provided with a mobile phone that we could take with us, so we were able to contact the hotel reception when needed.
The hotel provides transport to and from the nearest centre, and will also give you a lift up and down the hill to get to your room.
Breakfast is a small menu but caters for every taste, along with cereal, fruit, fresh juices and coffees.
You are truly immersed in the rainforest and will be able to spot monkeys and other animals during your stay.
The hotel also offers yoga 3 times a week for a small fee.
We were looked after by some fantastic members of staff, who went above and beyond for us.
The general manager Nizam is very friendly and approachable and happy to help anytime.
One of the members of staff who really stood out for us was Shahmi, he really went out of his way to make our stay even more enjoyable - a true credit to the hotel.
Whilst having a drink at Rimba, the sea view bar in the sister hotel, we had the opportunity to view one of the pool villas and it was incredible.
Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Thank you for supporting us by the fantastic reviews. Ambong-Ambong Rainforest Retreat just a small resort with only 11 rooms in total. We're glad to heard that you enjoyed staying us. Our staff are try to do every possible way to help our in house guest during the stay. Rimba Restaurant and Moonson Skybar are located at our sister resort named Ambong Pool Villas. For those who like to experience sunset view while having their meal, this is the best place for them. Thank you so much for supporting us through the fantastic reviews.

I cannot fault Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat. All the staff were very helpful and always happy - nothing was too much trouble. They really injected a good positive energy into the place. The rooms were always cleaned extremely well, the in house taxi service was a great touch and really made a difference as i had recently had knee surgery. I would highly recommend this place.

Everything was perfect: accommodation, tropical atmosphere, cleanliness & staff (very friendly and very helpfuly). We stayed in the Canopy Suite and, even though we were at the highest height (great view), it was permanently a driver who took us everywhere we needed. We also stayed at Ambong Pool Villas and, even if the conditions were more luxurious (private pool and terrace), referring to the value for money, I would recommend Ambong Ambong Rainforest (210€/night-Ambong Ambong Rainforest, Canopy Suite vs. 430€/night-Ambong Pool Villas, Kuang Villa). The Japanese restaurant from the entrance to the Ambong Ambong Rainforest complex is unmissable.

We went to Langkawi and booked this hotel after reading some great reviews.
They were all true, this hotel brings it all.
The studio's are stunning and offer stunning views, beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
The service is of 6 star quality.
The establishment offers you a dedicated phone to call a driver or a staff member to help you out with any question or request you have during your stay.
The rooms are spread out on a hill, which means it"s a lot of climbing up and down.
However, they have a car there to bring you up and down if you're tired or just don't want to walk the stairs.
Breakfast was nice, we also tried their restaurant on the other side of the resort, it offers magnificent views and has a great bar.
If you really want to deeply enjoy your stay in Lankawi, this is the place to go.

We had a wonderful week from the time of our arrival (late evening), when we were greeted by the manager (Joe) and 2 other staff who had waited up to greet us and provide some much needed food and refreshment, to the time of our departure when we were presented with some parting gifts from Shami and Shafiq to remind us of our stay.
This was our stop off stay on the way back to the UK after 3 weeks in Australia and we couldn't have chosen a more peaceful and relaxing resort, but within walking distance of the beaches and other amenities.
Our room (Canopy suite) was at the very top of the resort, which is built into a steep hill, and for a couple fast approaching their seventies we were very glad of the lifts provided by the drivers to take you back to your accommodation. Having said this we liked to walk the hill at least twice a day to maintain fitness.
The service we received from ALL of the staff was outstanding, professional but always extremely friendly, and nothing was too much trouble.
All of the drivers (Shami, Shafiq and Hakim) were always happy to take us to the town or restaurants and bring us back again at whatever time of the day or evening, or simply take us back up the hill to our accommodation.
The sister hotel, just across the road, had a wonderful setting and excellent restaurant, ideal for a sunset drink or meal, and again extremely helpful and friendly staff.
All in all we had a truly relaxing week and were sorry to be leaving. We hope the resort continues to thrive and successfully survives the current coronavirus pandemic.

We stayed two nights at Ambong Ambong. It was a highlight of our trip to Malaysia. The location on the hill in the forest is great. I really enjoyed the monkeys around! The beach nearby is nice too. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is simple and fresh! There are plenty of restaurants nearby.
The Ishan Spa at the same location could step up the provided experience a little bit with provided water after massage and making sure to have fresh flowers instead of old once. The massage was great.
Thank you Ambong Ambong for a nice experience!

I’ve been traveling, both business and pleasure, for over 30 years and I have to say that the staff at Ambong Ambong are without doubt the best I’ve ever come across. They were so friendly, polite, professional and helpful. It made you feel special, but in a way that didn’t make you feel as if they were just doing their jobs.
The resort is built on a very steep hill, which to be honest we walked up and down most days (got to get those steps up!) but there was a driver offering a lift available at any time it was required, which we accepted on the really hot days!
The resort is spotlessly clean and tidy and the room itself was perfect. Our room (R2) looked out over the rainforest and across the bay to the small island. You could sit on the balcony and watch the squirrels and monkeys leaping around the trees, whilst looking at the beautiful sea. The room itself was well equipped, with plenty of free bottled drinking water. It was a good size with a very clean and modern kitchen, a small area to sit with a couple of chairs and a coffee table. Great adjustable fan and air con which kept the room nicely chilled. You then walk through to the two very large wardrobes with a safe which follows through to the nice sized bathroom with large walk-in shower and well equipped complimentary gels and lotions. All in all perfect for any length of stay. The beds were comfy (I’m 6’ 2” and 16 stone and were fine for me size wise).
Can thoroughly recommend the Rimba restaurant which is connected to Ambong Ambong. You get a free lift there (2 minute drive) from the main resort. Lovely setting and amazing food and service (we had a lovely meal there which was part of the marvelous memories package). Yet again the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Always remembering your name and asking if everything was ok. As one of them put it “you’re away from your families so we like to be your second family for the time you’re here”. With an ethos like that you know you’re in for a lovely time.
All in all the perfect way to finish our Malaysian holiday. My wife and I sat here on our last day today trying to think of something that we would improve on……and were stumped. Enough said.

Second time at AARR. As expected, the experience is nothing short of amazing. This time I was taken care of by Lina who showed me to my room (Canopy Studio) and checked in on me every day to make sure I was comfortable during my stay, Nizal and Lee who were the shuttle drivers bringing me up and down the hill with a smile. All the staff at AARR did everything they could to make sure I was well taken care of. :) Canopy Studio has an amazing view of the sea and forest. The room is super clean because housekeeping staff drops by twice a day to tidy the room (morning) and for turn down service (provide incense/mosquito repellant and water by your bedside). I also had the Amaala signature massage by Fida and Suzie which I highly recommend. The food at Rimba was delicious, particularly the avocado toast and beef rendang. Make sure to have your dinner at Rimba Skybar at 6.30pm so you can catch the gorgeous sunset as you eat. The staff is truly the heart of AARR who are so helpful and goes above and beyond what is expected. :) Will be back for a third time soon!

This was my first visit to Langkawi and I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon last month and stayed at the Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat until the following Monday. This was an experience like no other. The retreat is in two sections with rooms in vertical piers built on a very steep slope in the forest and the bar/restaurant , similarly built in the forest on the other side of the road some 1oo metres away, The design was deliberate to ensure as little damage to the forest as possible.
The room was extremely comfortable with en suite bathroom and kitchenette. An efficient shuttle system links the rooms with the restaurant; visitors merely have to phone and a car appears in a couple of minutes to ferry them to and from the restaurant. The restaurant was on two levels with the open air terrace upstairs with a beautiful view across the trees to a long island out at sea. I was lucky with the weather and the sun set in a red-gold sky over the sea next to the island. Such a sunset required a taste from an extraordinary well stocked bar and the menu had an impressive variety of dishes to choose from. Many of the vegetables are produced in a garden owned by the retreat and the chef was talented in a variety of cuisines from Malaysian and Thai to International. There is also a Japanese restaurant to add even more variety.
This being Langkawi there is no shortage of monkeys in the trees and one or two sometimes need to be shooed away though they pose no danger. Visitors are requested not to feed them – partly because it isn’t good for the monkeys and partly because they don’t need to be encouraged . But this is a natural unspoilt forest and the monkeys got there first!!
I would thoroughly recommend this experience. It has the personal touch which cereal box style hotels cannot have; it is simply unique.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at Ambong Ambong Rainforest. The place is green, clean, you wake up with the sound of the birds and the vegan breakfast is 10 out of 10. Fresh fruit, fresh juices, veganized French Toast, Avocado Toast, also veganized Malaysian savaroy breakfast with Mushrooms and Beans. The whole place is perfect for chilling and relaxing, starting with the very comfortable rooms, the swimming pool, the whole SPA area, Yoga and many adventures possible to book like island hopping or Mangrove Tours. The staff is kind, attentive, you feel welcome and I would always go back!

The beach is less than 10 mn by foot from the hotel lobby. The hotel will drive you there and back, if you want. The beach is very nice.
Yes, I think it will match your expectations. Me and my wife were really happy there.
A polite way is to give the tip to the staff individually or personally rather than leaving it on the table.
Hi
We are nestled in the rainforest and you will see some wild life like dusky leaf monkeys. giant squirrels and hornbills. In our 7 years of operation, we have come across a few snakes but they have never been an issue. Almost always snakes are more frightened of us than we are of them
Please be assured that your chances of coming across a snake is practically zero. If you decide to stay with us please book directly for a better discount.
Kind regards,
Sharina
We stayed in Ambong Ambong Pool villas which consists of only 8 villas with your bery own private pools. Each villa is unique and offers different views (ocean view, partial ocena view, jungle view...) Sun exposure also depends on which villa u get. It’s stated in their website how much sun you’ll get at the different villas.
