Family accommodation and delicious food in the quiet traditional village named " khuri " as well as camel safari in the beautiful thar desert landscape . A stay at Badal House allows visitors to get the most authentic Jaisalmer desert experience. Camels, donkeys and goats wander the streets and there are few cars to disturb the quiet calm of this ancient village. To get to Khuri you must either hire a car (1000-1500 rupees) or take the local bus from Jaisalmer (60 rupees per person). We provide 2 full meals ( dinner & breakfast ) each day for 1 person within the price of 500 rupees , also if someone is interested to do overnight camping safari or short camel ride can do with 500 rupees per head extra payable amount. Everything is home-made, lovingly prepared from local produce and absolutely delicious.

I decided to come to Khuri to find some peace and quiet - and I did! Badals Guesthouse is the perfect place to escape the noisy towns of Rajasthan, take some rest and enjoy the beautiful desert landscapes and life. Badals wife is an amazing cook who will provide you with three homecooked meals a day (most amazing food!) and there is also a little shop nearby in case you need anything more, which you probably won’t. My highlight was the desert safari with Swarup and his camel - he knows the desert so well and always made sure I was comfortable, giving me three blankets during the cold night. He cooked dinner and breakfast over open fire which also tasted so nice and was more than enough. I was traveling by myself which was no problem at all, I felt very safe at all times.

Hint: If you are coming to Jaisalmer by plane you will have to get a cab into town to find the bus that is going to Khuri. At the airport, they told me that ‘there is no bus’ etc etc - just don’t believe them, there are at least 4 buses everyday and once you are in Jaisalmer everybody will be happy to tell you where they leave. The bus is 40 Rupees per trip and early arrival is recommended as there are usually a lot of people on the bus. Just in case you cannot find the bus stop, here are the coordinates: 26.9111721, 70.9264312

I traveled khuri desert with my family and went overnight camel safari and camp fire followed with dinner and overnight stay under the stars in open . badal ji arranged the camel safari to khuri desert . Then we headed to our camp site and there was campfire and dinner. The food was very testy as it was cooked on wood fire , camel driver sarup was very friendly person who look after us and cook dinner for us .The blankets and mattresses were comfortable and warm enough for night then we had black tea next morning with nice view of sunrise on a clean sand dunes .
Overall it was a great experience.
we highly recommend badal house khuri for best authentic desert experience , they have three mud huts with basic amenity and simple single bad but very clean and comfortable with roof of natural grass , bathroom is not attached but is saprate and very clean .
PS - If you are looking for luxirious stay here then better you can chose a place in jaisalmer city then come to a rural village , which is known for it"s culture .

if you are a fuss-free budget traveller then don't think twice about booking a stay here. Badal ji is a wonderful host and will ensure that you have a pleasant stay here. The food is delicious and the guides he arranges for the safari/camping are top notch when it comes to hospitality. Khuri is easy to reach from Jaisalmer by bus.

Badal ji charges 400 for a stay (and three meals). It really doesnt get any better than this! If, however, you choose to camp overnight at the desert, then its 800 bucks (plus 300 in case you need a camping tent). Meals are freshly cooked and tasty.

Note that there are no toilet facilities at the desert. This is not a tented "accommodation", so if you need to "go", you'll just have to behind a bush! :)

Mr.Badal Singh is very sweet and helpful. We reached by 2.45 Badal Singh ji camr to receive us at the bus stand. At his house we had a nice meal. We left for the desert by 4 with two camels(Bob Marley and Michael Jackson!) and their riders, Devi Singh and Swaroop bhaiyaa
We reached the camp site by 5. The guides made us tea. We roamed for some time. Later cooked us a nice meal and lit a bonfire.
Mr Badal Singh had provided us with a tent but fortunately the weather was very pleasant and it was not super cold.
We watched the sunrise and had hot black tea after which we were on the camels back to Badal House.
It was just us two girls and the entire trip was super safe.
Mr Badal Singh and his camel riders were very nice and polite.
Khuri and Stay at Badal House was the highlight of out Rajasthan Trip
Highly recommended!!

Our stay at Badal House was the most memorable experience in a whole month of travelling around Rajasthan. Badal and his family go out of their way to make you have the best possible time. Food is homemade from scratch, all local style - you are going to get a real life experience here. I absolutely enjoyed their fresh homemade curd and even got to enjoy some fresh goat milk... Accommodation was one of the cleanest I've seen in India and thick blankets protect you from getting cold in winter nights.

The camel trip into the dunes was a highlight. We went with Swaroop, who is the best guide we could imagine for a trip like this. An intelligent, hard working young man who is doing his very best to make his guests have a great time in the desert. Taking care of the camels, the cooking and on top of this just a very unique personality. Amazing guy...

So when coming to this remote part of India, don't look any further. Come here and you'll be having moments that will last for a lifetime.

This was the most amazing place that i have ever visited in my life *Badal house, khuri* . This place had offered a calm and peaceful environment, i loved there house a lot which was built in an ancient model, with mud and clay ..
Badaljies son was with me to show me the places, irrespective of time , whether it is night/ day whatever, he was with me
Camal safari in the desert was a gem of an experience, and they offered it within a comaparatively cheap rate (₹).. I have to mention the camel driver swaroop here..
He was too good as a person, was one of a kind ❤️
I loved his camels name
Which was bobmarly, johny, michael jackson..

Unlike most other safari travel agency in Jaisalmer, you actually start from the heart of the desert and not from the city itself.
The guides during our stay in the desert were really great. They cooked excellent food and were very nice and cheerful in general. They were also very considerate as to the length of the stops along the way, as there was an older couple traveling with us.
The owner mr. badal and his son nepal of this attraction is also a great guys who will surely take the time to explain all the details and overall help you with your stay in Jaisalmer.
Oh, and the price was not high either.
Highly recommended!

This is the second year I come to Badal house. The family is welcoming and all took good care of me. Homemade food is great and rooms clean and very comfortable. The camel safari and night in the desert is a lifetime experience. The camel driver is passionate and very respectful of the environment and of guests. Camels are sweet animals an riding them is fab. Be back next year.

Highly recommended! Badal Singh ji and his camel man devi Singh support so many things while we were in desert. Great food, Chai tea, amazing night under the Sun. The camel driver devi and sarup showed us an old village on the way to the dessert. Great experience. Badal ji is amazing. He helpd us many times even though it was not for his business. He is not a business man. He was a real friend. We arrived in Jaipur thanks to you.

We used Badal House as a base for our camel safari. Unsure if we really wanted to do a safari due to it being too touristy. Having read previous reviews and contacted Badal House, we made a booking, and so glad we did.

We caught the local bus to Khuri, had a delicious home cooked meal at Badal House, and then explored the local village.

Swaroop arrived with his beloved camels, and we were soon heading off into the dunes. The trek is not too long, and we set up camp around an open fire. Food was cooked and we chose our spot for our sheet and blanket for the evening.

It is not at all luxurious, but this is part of the appeal. Camping out for a night under the stars was magical. A tent can be hires if required.

Swaroop takes excellent care of his animals, and was the perfect guide. Camping in the Tar dessert, away from the hundreds who visit the Sam dessert, proved to be a great choice.

Many thanks to Badal House and Swaroop for a memorable trip.
