We'd just moved into the area and had a meal in the Golden Lion to save us the hassle of cooking on our first evening in the new house. Friendly staff, tempting and varied menu, and the meals that both of us ordered were nicely cooked and really tasty. They specialize in particular menus - e.g. curries, pies, fish -...

Stayed here for only one night and although we do not regularly stay in country pubs, this one is a gem The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant to deal with. Being a Tuesday night, it was their curry meal deal night. The curry was the best I have had in years, and if curry is not...

The pub is in a delightful setting, has a very homely and welcoming atmosphere. There is a good selection of beers and especially malt whiskies!! During the week they provide a very good selection of pub grub at very reasonable prices. Mine hosts take very good care of you.

We stayed for 2 nights in our campervan ,and it has to be said it was the best ten pounds we have ever spent, granted there was only a water supply on site, but the hosts could not have done any more to make our stay better We arrived with an empty gas bottle, and having asked Colin if he knew where...

Loved this place! There isn't a lot more you could ask for. The hosts are excellent, the beer is good, the food is well priced (£8/9 for a main) and good quality, and there is a beautiful hill walk directly from the Inn itself (just look in the walking book at the bar for info). I'd definitely recommend and would...

We stayed here for two nights as we had a wedding nearby at Pentre Mawr House. The room and en suite bathroom were large and very clean. The owners were very accommodating and even waited up for us on the wedding night to open the front door for us, which was a nice touch. Breakfast included a lovely cooked breakfast...

We stayed here on our second night along The Offa’s dyke Path. The hotel is in a very quiet village and is full of character. The room was very spacious and had a huge en-suite. Great value for money. The pub menu was comprehensive with quite a few reasonably priced curries available. Also the bitter was well kept. The locals...

We stayed for one night as i was competing at a local horse show. After travelling from Manchester and settling the horse into his accommodation we arrived after 9pm. We had missed the cut off time for the evening meal but Helen was lovely and went out of her way to cook us both our tea! Highly recommend and is...

We have recently stayed for two nights at this lovely pub. The rooms were beautifully clean with all the amenities and super comfortable beds. Breakfasts were excellent, nicely served and perfectly cooked. Colin and Helen are charming hosts and made us feel very welcome....we shall certainly be back to stay in this little gem.
