great location, good food and friendly staff. we had a lovely room in an annex behind the main hotel with tons of space. beautiful contryside all around and spout force is well worth the walk upstream (not on foot path) - only 10 minutes drive away.

Good value home cooked food with a particularly good veggie selection. Log fire in one of the rooms. Atmosphere a little lacking but we were out of main season (Jan) Not the place to go if you don't like dogs in the dining area though.

Stayed for two nights for my birthday weekend and had with us our dog, we were located in a house to the right of the inn and was very pleasantly surprised, it looked like it had been recently decorated and was more than spacious for the 3 of us, the shower was slightly on the small side as it is...

Had a 4 night stay here this January in some appalling weather, so it was nice to have a very warm and cosy small double (for single occupancy) up in the rafters with a superb mountain view. The bed was supremely comfortable and I slept very well. There was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and a small ensuite shower...

The Coledale inn has been a favourite of mine for many years, but sadly the time has come to look elsewhere. the place is nothing more than a dog hotel now! On Saturday night, there were more dogs in the bar than there were people. We actually refused to eat in the hotel bar on the evening, because of the...

Dear Mr Bryant, Finding this review on one website (the booking site that you used) is something worth replying to. You have now written it again as your first ever review on tripadvisor, which most people would call vindictive. I will not go into any detail on how you marked the hotel, our staff, the location and other categories as...

Decided to book in for Christmas day dinner whilst staying at Mews Cottages in the village. So glad we did. The quality of food and the value for money was exceptional. £42 for 5 courses - we could barely stand upright afterwards. The staff were courteous, friendly and provided great service. Many of the people having Christmas dinner were staying...

From the husband and wife management to the rest of their staff they made our short stay as enjoyable as before. They give you just what you would hope for. Breakfast was good as was the comfort of...

Yet another stay at this wonderful hotel and once again a perfect holiday. Fantastic christmas decorations and cracklings fires were a welcome sight after a drive on a freezing cold afternoon. Once again the staff were excellent, working their socks off to ensure a perfect stay for everyone. Food was superb and the room was so warm and comfortable. Peter...

My wife and I spent three nights at the Coledale Inn and found it be excellent over a range of facilities. We enjoyed a very comfortable room, which provided a wonderful view of a delightful snow-capped Skiddaw. Breakfast and evening meals offered a wide choice and were very tasty. The residents bar was enhanced by a blazing log fire. Service...
