Service- the best there is. Very friendly and helpful from the moment of enquiry to the moment you leave. You get help with maps and walks. The service is 5 star (6, 7 or whatever is the highest!). Food- healthy and tasty made to your satisfaction. The breakfast is very nice and the dinner is out of this world. They...

Dear pokyyy. It's good to know you enjoyed your stay at 'The Cottage' and that you will return in the future. We are sure those reading your review will find it helpful, especially the detail you provide on our loft room, Tree Tops. It is a very private room, but as you say, the low beams can be a test...

We have just returned from a three night stay at this small hotel & restaurant. Kath, Liam and their staff's attention to detail and quality of service was first class, as always. There was a good variety of food which was cooked to a high standard and served with a smile. We've stayed at this hotel 4 times and every...

Dined here whilst on holiday nearby. If you want quility food over quantity. If you want to be treated as honoured guests rather than paying punters. If you want to sit in a modern conservatory with outstanding views of a woodland forrest rather than facing blank walls then this is the place for you. The menu is small but is...

Booked this at the last minute to celebrate my mothers 79th birthday with my two sisters. Did not arrive till late as we were at work that day so were too late for the complimentary tea and cake, but will catch it next time. The whole experience was wonderful. The owner pays attention to every detail and makes you very...

We only made our booking the day before arrival, and due to work issues pitched up just before 7 in the evening - not an ideal time for staff who are about to start dinner service. Despite this we were given the warmest of welcomes and shown to our room without the slightest hint of being hurried. It is clear...

A 2 night stay to celebrate my 40th birthday. The hotel is well appointed and comfortable. It is in a beautiful rural woodland location, with amazing views across to Skiddaw. We received a friendly and relaxed welcome. All staff clearly enjoy working here and the owners are rightly proud of what they have created. The highlight though has to be...
