Came here for a business trip and stayed one night, eat in the bar which was probably a mistake, the bar is dated and needs attention, service wasn't great either. Breakfast in the morning was very disappointing we had to queue for 15 minutes on the stairs, by the time I was taken to my table the restaurant was pretty...

We had an enjoyable 3 night stay here just after Christmas, with 2 of our daughters. The main hotel building is historic, dating back to the 16th century, and has a lot of character. The room we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable. The bar is lovely, with open fires. We all enjoyed the spa and swimming pool. The...

This hotel and the staff were a real 'find' for us, my wife had been here many years before and had told me that the hotel was exceptional. I am happy to say that 15 years on the hotel still has that real friendly feel to it and staff that are so welcoming you really feel at home. The rooms...

I stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year period. My room was clean & comfortable & of good size. A minor quibble with the shower: it took nearly 2 mins for hot water to come through, not ideal in mid-Winter! Unlike a number of previous posters, I found the service pretty good. Perhaps all of the negative comments...

We visited the Houston House for one night at the end of December and received unexpectedly poor service at breakfast. We were down at 9.45am and were asked to wait in the bar until a table was available, which took about 10 minutes, then we were seated and our tea and toast order was taken, about 15 minutes later we...

Stay here for two nights in a feature room in the tower. The room was comfortable and clean with great views over the garden. As on previous visits the staff are friendly and helpful. If booking direct you get £10 credit on the room to spend in the bar or restaurant. My tip is that if you are intending to...
