We stayed three nights and cannot fault the beautiful surroundings and peaceful tranquility of this eco lodge. I’d read previous reviews and yes there is traffic noise as the lodge was built some 30 years ago alongside a road probably not realising that in 2019 there would be

Good room and a great place to go birding. Guides are available but you can also do your own thing on the many trails that exist in the secondary forest and by the river. For lazy man's birding you can view a very busy feeding station right by the restaurant so you can watch and

We were pleasantly surprised that our lodge in Costa Rica in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui was located right on the Sarapiqui River and their grounds surrounded by a tropical forest full of birds. We awoke each morning with the sounds of nature and had our meals outside among the

Nice gardens. Choose a room away from the road, near the river. Avoid the tacky giftshop. If you don't eat meat, and dont want to pay for pizza every day, consider staying elsewhere as the staff will just wave at the salad bar (all of the pulses are boiled as an

Rooms of this lodge are elevated from the ground and joined by wooden walkways so some of the rooms require a bit of walking. Mine was. I did not mind as the walkway was covered. My room was sizeable but lodge is lodge so do not expect those star rated configuration in a

No smoking in the rooms, bar, restaurants etc. As a smoker myself I ensured that I was smoking away from these and other places where there were other people around.

Our room was in one of the "quadraplex" units. I do not recall any A/C, but I recall ceiling fans. As noted, windows have screens and privacy shutters. Unless the heat and humidity is uncomfortably high, you will want open windows to be able to hear the jungle sounds. You would be amazed at what passes by outside in the morning dusk. Remember, you will be within the jungle canopy and it is definitely cooler than in the open. We traveled in early March and the weather was perfect.

We were on a Road Scholar trip which we took our bus to get there. It was not far so I cannot tell you the cost. We saw all kiinds of birds and very close to them when they were feeding. I got some wonderful pictures of toucans. They had an ares where hummingbirds fed and just sitting there I photographed several different birds with wonderful lighting and natural backgrounds. No feeders. My husband went on walk and saw even different birds. I am not sure the cost but is a wonderful place to see various birds.

We just did the tour and really enjoyed it. The captain would point out wildlife and then get the boat close so we could take photographs. Saw three species of monkeys, some nice birds, and a croc!
