The resort offers a breathtaking view of the valley. It’s a treat for the eyes to watch the floating clouds and the sunset. Add to this, the sight of their horses grazing right outside your balcony. The food is amazing and the cookies and cake, all homemade, are the icing on the cake. The hosts are warm and make sure that you are well taken care of. The staff is very courteous and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. All in all, a beautiful home away from home. Go for it.

We were at Colonel's Resort Bir to attend my niece's wedding. It's a beautiful resort, very peaceful and well maintained. One can go for morning walks and enjoy " me time" in the beautiful surroundings. The staff and all arrangements were perfect to the "T". Colonel JP and his wife Pratibha were personally taking rounds and attending to each guest. Myself and my family spent an extra day after all the wedding celebrations and were guided by Colonel JP as to which places we could visit in Bir. Evening we got to spend great time and enjoyed our conversation with Colonel JP and Pratibha and their guests over bonfire n dinner . The staff is very polite and helpful. Rooms are nice, cosy and warm. The property has 2 horses and their cute pet Ginger. Overall a fantastic experience staying at Colonel's Resort and would love to visit again. Thank you to the team at Colonel's Resort - Bir for their warm hospitality.

Colonels resort is a beautiful resort in the paragliding capital of India, Bir. It’s a very comfortable stay as the rooms are great, food and service is amazing and cafés and restaurants around the resort are quite fun too. There are several types of rooms available at the resort - from basic to super luxury, as per our convenience and suitability. In Bir, there are many beautiful places to visit like sunset point, waterfall point, long morning walks in the woods, gorgeous Buddhist monasteries and tea gardens. It is simply nature at its best. What makes the stay so comfortable is Colonel Sir and his family who are very warm and welcoming, and often spend time with all guests and share anecdotes. The meals at the resort are delicious, covering all cuisines from Italian, South Indian, Continental, Pahari food, and so on, as per the request of the guests. To hang out : there are great cafés, restaurants serving Tibetan food, wood fire pizzerias, sandwiches etc. Local population in Bir have been quite warm and courteous to us, making our overall experience really wonderful. We enjoyed visiting the stores and shopping for good quality clothes, bags, sandals, Tibetan key chains, flavoured green teas, and local goodies etc. We visit colonels resort every year and go back home refreshed and full of energy. It is definitely a place to visit with family and friends. What we like about the place is that it is not very commercial like some hill stations in India, and makes the place more peaceful to unwind. It is unexplored to some extent. Must try and buy: rose and camomile tea grown locally at Colonels resort.😊

Being at Colonel's Resort was an enjoyable experience. Colonel likes to be called JP. He is friendly and we both went for a morning walk. He has a beautiful property which is so well designed that the rooms even at night are so cosy and warm despite the bitter cold winds of the hills. Bonfire followed by delicious dinner with other guests and his own family made the atmosphere heartwarming. Organic food, tea coffee from their own cow milk, delicious delectable in house made cookies and refreshing lime water, all so special! Everyone including staff is warm and hospitable. All arrangements, from shopping, sight seeing to going for paragliding were made easy and convenient. I will cherish every moment spent here. It has created the best memories ❤️

We were having a terrific holiday, having spent time in Chateau Garli, Dharamshala and Palampur. Decided to spend a day in Bir at Colonel’s Resort on a friend’s recommendation. Booked on phone. 7500 a day per Superior room. Two rooms On arrival find there is nothing superior or deluxe about rooms. These are terribly kept like army barracks. Beds are makeshift which creak and are ready to fall apart. Bare furniture. Dirty bathrooms with insects Toiletries picked up from footpath. No hand towels. Terrible with zero care for basic hygiene We were told food order has been placed as per colonel’s choice. Ripped apart when we got the bill for these home meals. A Paneer dish at Rs 650 - what do they feel- they are running an Oberoi property? Next day it’s raining heavily. But we start getting phone calls at 9 am- when are you checking out? After three calls were practically forced to leave in heavy rain. No sign of host. The only good feel we had was the son- he was polite and helpfully guided us. At 7500 per night it’s a terrible experience. One feels fleeced and it seems the management has devil may care attitude. A blip on perfect holiday we are continuing in Manali and now Zanskar.

We spent an absolutely delightful 10 days at this beautiful resort at the end of June this year. A family run-property it provides a charming holiday experience whether you want just an escape from the heat of the plains, or if you're looking for some adventure in terms of para-gliding, trekking etc, or even if you want a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. We did all three so speak from experience! One runs short of superlatives to describe the natural ambience of the surroundings, the courteous ever helpful staff, the tastefully done rooms (which even have a flat screen TV...if you like your tele-viewing a lot!), The food served was fresh and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the Himachali-dishes so thoughtfully served on a couple of occasions. The open deck-area in front of the dining room provides a wonderful space to interact with othe fellow residents and share travel experiences. The USP of the place undoubtedly is the owner Colonel JP himself...the warmth and involvement displayed by him and even his other family members takes the hospitality of the place many notches higher. The number of repeat guests who keep coming back here itself speaks volumes about the endearing quality of the place. A word about the rooms (we stayed in both the deluxe and super-deluxe ones)…in our personal experience the deluxe rooms with their charming names like Dhauladhar, Zen, Rhododendron etc are just perfect if you want to simply relax and unwind sitting with a book in the verandah into which each room opens. Watch the varied species of birds feasting on the fruit trees in front or enjoy the beautiful hydrangea bushes lining the verandah...it was delightful! Also they are on the ground floor. The super deluxe rooms on the first floor are also very tastefully done and have air-conditioning, plus boast a full view of the valley from the huge bay windows lining one full wall.
