The resort offers a breathtaking view of the valley. It’s a treat for the eyes to watch the floating clouds and the sunset. Add to this, the sight of their horses grazing right outside your balcony. The food is amazing and the cookies and cake, all homemade, are the icing on the cake. The hosts are warm and make sure that you are well taken care of. The staff is very courteous and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. All in all, a beautiful home away from home. Go for it.

Spent a week remote working from colonels. Loved every minute of it. The rooms were nice ans spacious. The food was absolutely delicious and the hosts were absolutely amazing.
Highly recommend an after dinner walk to the tea garden where you can see hundreds of fireflies dancing around.

I had the pleasure of re-visiting this very elegant estate after the lockdown. It was so reassuring to see that some things never change - every tiny detail was a reminder of the fact that class and style are not compromised. Thank you all. Stay safe

We went for our anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better trip and stay. Away from the madness of the landing ground, yet close enough for you to walk to the cafes and party places. The resort was quiet, clean and friendly. Evening bonfires were like stories being shared with family.
The food was absolutely great, healthy and home made. We wanted to go on a trek and we're escorted by the young staff members. We were packed with sandwhiches which were more than enough for the 2 of us.
I would say the hospitality was 5 star with the personal touch of an air BNB.
Will go back there soon.

It's a beautiful resort, well maintained. Rooms were comfortable, the view was superb and the food was awesome. Some negative points- no play room for kids, no room service. Staff was rude at times.
Definitely recommend for staying with family

I am surprised at the positive reviews shared about the hospitality of the gentleman managing the resort, to my mind he not just needs to understand the basic traits of hospitality industry ( for it's not the hotels with best architectures but the genuine hosts that wins the heart of the guests, which becomes more relevant in Indian context ) and also need to put a control on his rude behaviour which seems to have arised out of the fact that his property is one of the handful properties available in Bir .

The gentleman had quoted a price one week back for one night stay in cottage at 4400 ( inclusive of taxes and breakfast ) and suggested that the room has been blocked and today prior to my visit as I called him to ahve the bank details in order to transfer the money, he inflated the price of the stay to 5800 .

On being reminded about the discussion he said that he gets 1000 calls daily and can't keep track of each one of them, on being further reminded that during the last conversation he suggested that there is some internet issue and would share the bank account details later , he plainly told me to look for some other resort without realizing about the discomfort to which the guests would be put due to change in the itinerary at the last moment [Shame ] !

I must tell this gentleman that if HP gets 1000 cheers for the serenic beauty, it gets 10000 cheers for it's lovely people whose selfless hospitality is uncomparable and his unethical behaviour is just an exception .

I had booked the cottage 5 days in advance but when I got there with my family after driving for 7 hours colonel informed me that he has not received my confirmation. I showed him the confirmation text message I had sent but he refused to entertain and was very rude. We had to find another place at 8 pm. Terrible experience.

I traveled to Bir along with my wife & 10 year old daughter. We had booked the place from May 19th to May 24th' 2018.

Let me share some positives first – I would have given 4 stars for just the place.
• Place is well maintained
• Lot of open space for star gazing
• Food is good

Now let’s get to some negatives – Zero rating for customer service.
• Poor customer service
• Rigid policies, zero flexibility – Restaurant timings, closing time of main gate
• Toiletries are not refilled – in spite of requesting it

In my booking email I had clearly mentioned 3 of us are travelling and the price quoted to us by Col JP Singh was not negotiated upon. However, we were surprised when the room assigned to us had 2 single beds in it. We managed for initial 2 nights post which we requested for a room with a double bed so we can adjust, to our shock we were offered an extra mattress to manage with that too at an extra cost. When asked why the extra bed charges were not mentioned at the time of the booking, there was no valid answer given. In fact, the manager seemed helpless because of the decisions taken by Col JP Singh. We could have easily paid more & adjusted for a few days. However, because of the attitude of the management & the poor customer service, we vacated the place after 2 nights & moved to another property.

I would suggest travelers to decide wisely as the purpose of the vacation is to have a positive experience. Bir is a beautiful place & have some very nice B&B options available.

Mahatma Gandhi said - A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.

The best and the most comfortable way to reach here is by flight. There are a large  number of over night trains from Delhi to Pathankot and then a taxi (3hrs) to Bir. There is a Volvo Bus service from ISBT to Baijnath (11 Kms from Bir). Room rates are between INR 3000 - 4000 + taxes with meals & drinks on actual basis. Sightseeing is arranged with many Buddhist Monastries to visit including Dharamshala & McLeodganj ( Dalai Lama's residence ) 2 hours drive .
