Had a fantastic holiday at Big Bay, Helen, Ian and their family made my family feel so at home and welcomed to this gorgeous part of New Zealand. The accommodation is spacious with loads of outside space to enjoy, very clean and tidy to high standards with everything you need and more in the shop if you forget anything :)...

Will be back again very soon as had a superb experience at Big Bay. The owners were fabulous and the site had everything required and was very clean and tidy. The Pizza oven area was a great place to eat and a fabulous idea. The beach was close and very nice for a swim. The shop was well stocked and...

I had never been to Awhitu Peninsula and though why not go. In the motorhome directory found that there is a Holiday Park. Just arrived and was welcomed like an old lost sock. Made to feel welcome. Given free rein to what site I wanted to park up. Was given a takeaways menu which I did sample and had trouble...

The place needs to be updated. Everything was run down and scruffy. Would not recommend to others. I can't think of one good thing to say about it. There isn't much choice for accommodation out that way which is a pity

After reading other reviews we were still willing to 'give it a go' big mistake. At first look it was ok we pitched our tent, then went for to put the food in the fridge, it was disgusting and dirty I had to wash the shelves before I could put anything in there, then I only wanted to put stuff...

We arrived on Friday night and stayed through until Sunday - 2 nights. Takeaway Bar was in full swing when we arrived, booked in and went to our room to unpack The unit was clean and provided everything for a enjoyable stay. 2 bedrooms which the kids loved, they enjoyed having their own space. Lounge and Dining consisted of one...

We spent a night here in our motorhome last week. We had been planning on staying at Orua Bay but the camp was closed, so headed to Big Bay. The lady in the office was welcoming and friendly. She offered for us to join them to watch the Rugby (Highlanders/Hurricanes) that night on the big TV which I presume was...

The customer service was disgusting! Rude, grumpy and unwelcoming. We felt like we were imposing upon them. As soon as we arrived we got welcomed with an odd look and a 'yes!'. That was it! The showers and toilet was very dated and dirty. The toilet had no way to dry your hands. You had to use a $1 coin...

Run down facilities and grumpy owners. Motorhome site adjacent to the carpark and 7 day local shop - noisy, dusty and busy - most unpleasant. We never complain but this would have to be one of the worst camps we have ever stayed at. Chalk and cheese to Orua Bay down the road a few km's which is fantastic.

It was our first outing in our Motorhome. Ian and Helen were very welcoming and helpful. Our family joined us for a BBQ on the Sunday and they liked it too. The beach is nice, although better at high tide. At low tide you can walk round the coast line, which is edged with native bush full of bird life....
