Detailed Reviews
We are currently staying in the Hotel Fire and Ice, we choose it because it offers a range of opportunities to keep our youngest daughter occupied. There is a brilliant indoor 300m ski-slope complete with chair lifts, significantly longer than Chill Factor in Manchester. The hotel itself has a very impressive spa and a small gym. The reception/bar area is a very comfortable modern area looking out onto the ski-slope. The rooms are exceptionally clean, nicely furnished and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and are well maintained. Attached to the hotel is a ski- shop, another bar serving very reasonably priced food (breakfast for 3 €12h), there is also a more formal restaurant which was ok. The free wifi was also welcome as were the free drinks on arrival. If you are in the Düsseldorf/Netherlands area and are looking for a hotel which is a bit different and you need to keep the family entertained - this is definitely the hotel for you. With the recent favourable exchange rates, this was a very affordable hotel and would cost twice as much in the UK.

I can't say enough great things about this place! I went here on business, but I would definitely come back and bring the family! Let me start by saying the price was one of the best around for the rooms. When we got there, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very good sized, as well as the bathrooms. There are 2 areas to ski, lots of outside activities for children, shopping, and places to eat! Its not far from Dusseldorf, if you want to go into town. The breakfast is amazing! Lots of choices and wonderful coffee! If I get the opportunity to go back to Germany, I will stay here!

We stayed at Hotel Fire & Ice for two nights while attending a wedding nearby. Despite a rocky start when it seemed the hotel hadn't honoured the price they'd quoted the bridal couple (we ended up reserving through a third-party site rather than directly through the hotel), we were satisfied with our stay.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed the sauna (with it's view of the indoor ski slope) and the lounge and it was great to have free parking (especially as the hotel is quite a ways outside of Neuss/Düsseldorf). The decor is almost aggressively alpine (giant photo of a skier behind the TV, lots of wood, plaid carpet), but it somehow works.
Our only complaints are that the wifi dropped out intermittently and that the €25/night pet charge is high considering our dog received no extra consideration.
With the wifi, at times one of our two devices would be connected with no problems and the other wouldn't even detect the network. It was confusing and a little frustrating, but not too big of a deal as we weren't in the room very much.
Other hotels we've stayed at with our dog (and paid pet surcharges) have provided a little something extra for their guests with pets (like a dog bed/blanket or water/food dishes). Hotel Fire & Ice didn't even offer treats and we felt like we got nothing for the €25 charge. Although the staff were friendly enough to our dog.

Dear Laura, thank you very much for your stay and your kind review. Recently we updated our digital infrastructure. Now we can offer faster and more stabil internet services. Nevertheless we gave your information to our it-staff. After a dog was in one of our rooms, our housekeepers have to clean the room in a different way. We ask for your understanding for the extra fee. We are looking forward to welcome you back, soon. Best Regards

Stay: 2 nights in June 2014.
Staff: English-speaking. Very friendly & obliging.
Room: Double-of-two-singles bed, on 2nd floor. Very quiet for sleep quality. Work desk with ample power-points and chair. Very pleasing, modern feel.
Bathroom: Plenty of room. Spacious stand-alone shower – excellent, I wish every hotel bathroom had one just like it.
Amenities: Minibar (very well stocked), safe, air-conditioning with control panel.
TV: Good-size Philips LCD TV.
TV Channels (English): CNN, BBC World News listed, but they were the only two channels that didn’t display for me.
TV Channels (Sport): Eurosport, Sport1, Sport News HD, Sky Sport HD 1.
WiFi: Free with my booking. Easy login, worked fine (no blocking).
Breakfast: 17 Euros. Very good value "all you can eat" buffet, with hot dishes, in the Slope Lounge which has large windows down one side looking onto the bottom of the ski slope, so you can watch kids skiing while you eat. Very impressive.
Location: Rather out-of-the-way, attached to a giant indoor artificial ski slope. No European city traffic and narrow streets to deal with.
Parking: Free, with ample spaces in front of hotel.
Gym: Well-equipped, with some serious dumbbells.
Rating: Lovely hotel. Only the English TV channels not working disappointed me, but not enough to deny it the Excellent rating it deserves. As enjoyable stay as I've ever had.

I simply cannot give this hotel anything less than 5. The Fire & Ice was booked quite last-minute at a very good price. We weren't visiting Düsseldorf and were just passing through so the fact it was in Neuss didn't bother us.
The whole building is modern and up-to-date. Check in was good and the staff were friendly. We were given a room on the 4th floor overlooking the countryside (behind a big silver building that is). The room was modern but had nice Alpine-style touches like the lamps and the the check-patterned carpet. The bed was nice and comfy and the TV was very good - HD channels (a first in hotel for me).
The bathroom was amazing. It was very spacious and had a massive walk-in shower. The sink, taps and toilet were all very modern and slick. The whole room was brilliant (the same however can't be said for the fluorescent blue dressing gown in the cupboard!)
Dinner in the restaurant was great, our server was very friendly and the restaurant looks out onto the ski slopes which is amazing and quite entertaining at times. The food was great, so again - no complaints there. The breakfast area has massive floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the children's slopes. The breakfast offering was also very varied and had a good choice of everything, there was even a big machine that carved pieces of ham that wouldn't look out of place in a workshop!
There was also free use of the iMac computers in the lobby, and there is a ski shop should you wish to go skiing. We didn't have the time as we were only staying for one night, we would of liked to of seen more of the hotel and spent longer here - and we hope to return. It was good value for money, considering such a lovely hotel it is. I think we were visiting not in peak times because we barely saw anyone else in the hotel! Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. Definitely.

Stayed here for one night with work and loved this hotel!
Check in was quick and easy, plenty of parking.
The rooms are a good size, very clean and well equipped. The bed was super comfy.
The hotel is located within the indoor ski slope, which means it’s perfect if you are visiting to participate in the winter activities or skiing.
We stayed here as at night we had a curling session booked as part of our Christmas night together as a team, which was a great laugh and included plenty of gluhwein.
After curling we eat in the German buffet restaurant, this was my 4th visit to Germany and can honestly say it was the best meal I have had in the country, a great selection of German dishes to choose from and beer / wine / soft drinks were included.
Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold food including honey comb, which I’ve never seen anywhere else.
Would love to stay at this hotel again 👍🏻👍🏻

The hotel is located at an indoor ski hall with one large hill and one bunny hill, plus curling and sledding/tubing. In the summer there is also an activity area outside with a high ropes trail and other fun. The conference rooms and restaurants are nice but nothing super special. Watching others ski while you are in a meeting can be somewhat demotivating so better to book a conference room looking outdoors with sunlight. The snacks and refreshments are quite nice. There is a nice general area to relax and watch the bunny hill. There are several bars which are quite nice with good quality drinks. One has a fireplace. The hotel has a ski shop with everything you can imagine. The hotel rooms are clean with a nice bathroom area. The TV is large and there is complimentary bottle of water in the room.

We came to the Fire and Ice hotel as part of a larger group. The hotel has a direct connection to the skiing hall as well as the party places nearby. All rooms were very clean, neat and well maintained. Serve was very attentive and friendly. Need to come back!

I was skeptical by the pictures on booking.com, but the hotel room was really nicely decorated in Alpine style with a modern feel. Very family and pet friendly. There was a separate bedroom with bunk beds for kids and a separate kid height sink in the bathroom. The room had some kids games and books. There was plenty of hiking/fitness magazines to read in the room. The lobby was amazing and included a breakfast room with a view onto the slopes, apple computers with internet/printer access, and fire and ice themed bathrooms complete with sound effects. Everything you need is right here at the hotel. There was even a shop with ski gear. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a bit pricey, but it was very much worth it for the convenience. Everything can be charged to your room so no need to bring a lot of cash throughout the day.
The only complaint about the hotel room is the poor quality assurance on the construction of the tile floor resulting in excess water running outside of the shower. The other complaint is about the speed of service at the one restaurant.

I've been staying at the Fire & Ice for almost 2 yrs now on a regular basis - mainly as we deliver trainings in the conference area.
Its one of my favorite conference hotels in Germany for the following reason:
1. it has a unique flair due to the Skiing all year round
2. the staff are super friendly and accommodating - they'll get you anything you need (like replacement stockings and a special shampoo) within 24 hours at no extra cost
3. when I arrive I receive the nicest welcome and they remember my preferences
4. the breakfast is high quality with a Bavarian theme
5. the rooms always feel like they have only recently been refurbished and the strange thing is, the hotel is already alot older than it seems
6. the beds are super comfortable
7. Everything is top notch clean, high quality and the bathrooms are wonderfully modern too
8. They have a small but good fitness room - if its not enough, you can rent bikes and go for long walks in the area. Even better, take a skiing lesson!
The location isnt good if you want to have high city life at your doorstep. If you want to be close to Autobahn though its perfect. A short taxi ride away and you can find yourself in Neuss downtown.
A secret tip is to go take a sauna - you'll soon see why!!!!
