Any visit to Portugal needs to include Porto, and any trip to Porto needs to include a road trip along the Douro River valley (at least as far as Pinhão). And then it goes without saying that any trip that far needs to include at least a night at Qunita dos Tres Rios to immerse yourself in a slice of...

We were recommended to stay here and on investigation we were immediately captivated by the drone video on the website. The villa is a couple of hours by car from Porto (Portugal has the best quality, near empty highways!), or you can go the scenic route via the Douro Valley. Jane, Hugh and their entourage of family and animals gave...

Free flowing wines and portes and beers when you take the evening meal plan, 20E per person per day.... an amazing value... huge beautifully antique decored rooms, with living room, bedroom and ensuites with balcony overlooking the river and the olive groves and vines. Jane and Hugh were amazing hosts cooking meals from produce from their own gardens. They recommended...

Wow! We enjoyed three nights here with our wonderful hosts Jane and Hugh. The rooms are lovely, very large and big separate sitting room well stocked with their own complementary rose and red wine as well as their own port. Beds very comfortable. Opening up the windows in the morning to see the beautiful vineyards and river valley was spectacular....

Since our first visit in 2009, we have returned to Quinta dos Três Rios twice every year to experience Hugh and Jane's special brand of hospitality. Even though we now stay overnight at our own casa, we frequent Quinta dos Três Rios for the special wines, meals, and friendship. If this Quinta is on your list, don't miss it!

Hugh and Jane has made the most wonderfull place here, right in the middle off Portugal. Lovely area with lots of local things to experience, and Hugh gave good advise what to see. Nice river to go bathing when hot, very nice golf course 10 minutes drive from the address. Hugh told about the wine production and we tried how...

We were again welcomed back by Jane and Hugh for another wonderful holiday in the Dao and this time we included one of Hugh's wine tours. To the Douro region with views of vineyards down to the Douro river for port tastings and the Dao region for wine tastings including Portuguese style lunches all excellent. We enjoyed delicious suppers outside...

We stayed 5 nights at Quinta dos Tres Rios and were delighted with our accommodation in every aspect - our room was light and bright and had windows overlooking both the vineyard and towards the river, it was spacious and the bed, comfortable. The bathroom was terrific with great shower pressure! We also had a living room complete with bar...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This magnificent Quinta (farmhouse) was built by an Englishman in the late 1800s. The house is built of fine granite, partly into a terrace. The high ceilings on the ground floor at over 4 meters keep the house cool even on the hottest of days. The original features have been retained in a beautifully authentic restoration. The 3 suites located in the top of the house incorporate the original pine beams, giving a true "wow" factor. We have our own working winery and take wine tours to the Dao and Douro wine regions. ... more   less
