Definitely my kind of pub. A selection of excellent cask ales, friendly landlord, staff and chatty locals, standing room around the bar and comfortable seating for those who don't like standing. No piped music or other compulsory entertainment, just the buzz of happy people talking and laughing together. The rooms are not enormous but are decently furnished, cosy, comfortable and...

I have stayed here before, some time ago. This is a small hotel pub and seems well run and relaxed. The rooms are clean, the wi-fi works (can always be faster) but it is functional. The food is pub, but tasty and if anything too much... I am not sure why I don't stay here more often. Nice feel, good...

Lovely room, great evening meal. Lovely people, owners and locals. Warm welcoming atmosphere and terrific bar. Breakfast was superb. We will certainly return in the future. Very well situated for access to all North Yorkshire attractions.

We stayed for one night due to being at a wedding 2 miles away. The service was excellent. Really friendly owners. Comfortable stay. Nice place & the full English breakfast was delicious. Great value. We would stay here again. 5 stars!

Stayed for three nights whilst visiting National trust and English Heritage properties. We wanted a quiet pub and we got it. We had room 3 above the bar and we could hear voices but it was all quiet about half ten. Mostly though we were in the bar as well. Bedroom was warm with spotless linen and loads of hot...

The Inn was the prefect base for our planned trips to Fountain Abbey and Newby Hall. The room was very clean and in great condition with a well stocked tea tray. The owner Chris was very welcoming and all his team friendly. We stayed for two nights and ate at the inn both nights. The reviews I had read made...

As it was going to be our wedding anniversary, I wanted somewhere to take my wife just for the night as a little surprise. I found this little gem just outside of Thirsk, a town we often like to visit being only an hour away from where we live. From our check in through to departure nothing was too much...

My wife and I booked here on a "spur of the moment" decision, and were so pleased with our choice. A really warm welcome from Chris, the landlord. Great rapport with the village "locals". Lovely, home made steak pie, & a great "Yorkshire breakfast" - this is a lovely village pub. Forget the creaking floorboards and thin walls, that's part...

The pies are to die for !!!! And it is just the perfect old country pub ! Quirky and cozy. We fell in love with this place. It is nice to find places that stay true to their traditional style. I'm looking forward to our next visit.
