Basic but comfortable, other than the room which smelt strongly of smoke. This was quite unpleasant. Previous occupants had obviously been smoking in there Food was ok with good choice at dinner and breakfast buffets.
We have stayed in many Campanile hotels in France in many different locations, some good, some not so good. Our room here was not up to standard. The smell from the bathroom was nauseating. We couldn't work out if it was drains or damp. No biscuits left with the coffees, are you cutting down?
Standard Campanile hotel so knew what to expect and was not disappointed. I did fully expect the restaurant to be open on the Sunday evening when we arrived but for some reason they had decided to close ? The staff seemed to be very thin on the ground (2 people ?) so maybe that was why ? Had a meal on the following night and all went ok. The chap who was serving meals and drinks was also the same person who booked us in so he was a very hard worker and an asset to the Hotel.
We arrived by cycle and found the location was easy to get at but a long way out of the town of Vire. This motel had the usual room which was comfortable with comfortable beds. The best thing was that after a long ride we could get dinner on site without having to walk a great distance to find a restaurant. The staff were friendly, warm and helpful and made us feel welcome. The also allowed us to leave our cycles in a secure room in the main building. Dinner was good and plentiful. So was breakfast. I would go back there partiularly if I was travelling through France by car. All in all it was good value for money. · Nothing.
We didn’t use the hotel facilities, just the restaurant. It was the first time we had been in there despite living locally. We assumed the food side of things wouldn’t be all that great but we were very wrong. Firstly, the service and welcome was very good. The interior of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and the ambience very pleasant. The choice of food on offer was excellent. Large and varied buffet for starters and deserts...lots of fresh products very nicely displayed and you could return more than once to help yourself. The main courses were freshly cooked and served piping hot. Prices very good €17 for starter and desert buffets or €23 including main course...which considering you can eat what you like is excellent. Will definitely return
I would perhaps give it a four star review, but having driven down from the Cherbourg ferry on a Sunday and expecting to have a restaurant on site it was a real disappointment to find the restaurant closed as was most of Vire on a Sunday afternoon/evening. Luckily we found an open corner shop and managed to buy a few very expensive basics to make up an indoor picnic. On the plus side it was clean and tidy with flexible check in and out times.
Stayed for one night on a cycling trip back to the ferry. The most expensive hotel of the trip but probably the least memorable. Typical modern motel type hotel on the edge of town. The room had twin beds which were rather narrow and as my room was intended for disabled use had a wetroom rather than an traditional bathroom. This was great when you were showering but did mean that you got wet feet when you used the bathroom on subsequent occasions ! No other restaurants were apparent in the area so we ate in the hotel restaurant. The hotel also caters for coach parties and the hotel were unable to book us a table until they had served about 50 guests from the coach trip. However, when we did get a table the food was excellent with a good choice. Breakfast was not included in the room rate. Overall, the hotel was OK but wouldn't stay there again as I felt it offered poor value for money.…
I have been there with groups. The hotel is average for the catagory. Stuff is high about it, extremly friendly and always ready to assist in the solution of any request. They are doing really an excellent job
correct price. friendly and helpful staff clean and neat room all basic comfort is available good location with quick access to the main intersections free wifi, parking facilities in front of the room restaurant and bar available
We located the Campanile out of town on a roundabout and soon realised that we had booked US motel-style accommodation. We were able to park the car easily and check-in was satisfactory, though we had to wait for a while behind another customer. The receptionist could have at least acknowledged us. The room was cooler than outside, even though there was no air conditioning except in the bathroom. Bathroom was of a high standard (with bath included!) and there was a copy of the restaurant menu to hand. The beds were large and comfortable and there was space for putting things on the large window ledge. The dinners were surprisingly good with ""entree"" and desert buffets and a plat principal. The first night we enjoyed the entrecote steak, chips and French beans. On the second night the chicken fricassee proved rather small and was more like a starter. Water and stale bread buns were served as extras, but the breakfast bread was really crusty and fresh and there was a large variety of items from which to choose.…
