We arrived on the Friday, quickly booked in given a key to our room, which was a 2 bed family room. 2 adults & 2 children. The room was ok, there was a bit of dust about behind doors etc. Could have been better. Bathroom quite small but clean. Beds clean. Breakfast was continental buffet as advertised, we all enjoyed... My wife and I were returning from a French Canal trip and wanted somewhere to stay in Boulogne before doing some shopping and catching the ferry next day. I wouldn't use Les Gens de Mer for a romantic weekend getaway but for a place to sleep and shower near to the centre of a great city, it certainly fitted our... More

Grim facade, grim reception, grim stairs, grim landing and rooms are just ok.You need a step ladder to use the shower and at the slightest touch the shower goes from Arctic cold to Molten Lava, the bedroom door didn't lock either,so we held the door closed with a chair, lovely.Breakfast was ok but need to turn some lights on.

Stayed here for one night after a late ferry. Parking on site seemed safe. Able to check in with a human, not a machine. Simple comfortable room commensurate with low cost. Characterful decor. Clean but in need of refurbishment.

Stayed one night on a booze cruise, in a twin room with a mate. Cheap as chips, basic and clean. Hot shower. Free parking and free wifi (alright, but a bit patchy) were a bonus. Didn't eat there; this is France, where there is always a great bakery for breakfast on the go. If you explore a bit, you'll find... More

The hotel is need of a refurb. The breakfast was awful. Cold hard boiled eggs, no toast. Slices of cheese and ham. Lazy service. Will not go back. Very bad service and a General lack of customer satisfaction.

We spent a night here, booking at the last minute; as a result we got a cheap deal: double room, breakfast for two for €39.50. It's not a four-star hotel (free wifi but not in room, no teamaking in room), but we thought it was a bargain for comfortable night, within easy walking of the town centre, easy free parking... Stayed here on a short visit to Boulogne. Staff were very friendly although English was limited but they tried hard to understand. The room was very clean and an adequate size to use as a base. The only thing lacking were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but as the hotel is only a two star they don't... More

Good honest food at a competitive price. Set menus are good value. I had prawns and mackerel salad to start, mussels and chips and yes you get a big pot of mussels and then apple tart and cream 15€. House red or white is 2.75€ a glass , again good value and good wine , so here you can get... More

This nice little hotel doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. It's a two star french hotel, don't bother comparing it to anything but a two star french hotel. It's clean, tidy and it has parking, the restaurant (used by lots of locals) serves good basic food that is unlikely to disappoint. Overall it is convenient and good value... More
