For: I have never stayed in a chateau before and this is certainly the genuine thing. It was wonderful to sit on the rear terrace drinking wine and looking over the grounds. The room (we had the Count's) was very grand but quite dark. Against: Not welcoming, you can only check-in after the day trippers have gone and then only...

What a beautiful chateaux in a very quiet little village a short drive North of the Somme battlefields. Perfect place for reflection in this historic setting that has been restored by its friendly owners in a wonderful way. Rooms overlook pastoral grounds and the breakfast is simple but delicious. Why stay in an Ibis or some other dreary hotel when...

What a fabulous old chateau to look at and explore. It is in the middle of nowhere. It took us all ages to find how to get in as the big old wrought iron gates look like they have never been opened for hundreds of years! Inside the chateau the owners are restoring it to its original glory. Our bedroom...

We stayed for two nights, visiting the battle fields and museums. This was a lovely experience wonderful chateau full of history and beautifully restored. The room was warm and comfortable and breakfast outstanding. Will definitely return and hope to spend another period of time exploring the area.

We stayed here during a WW1 battlefield sites holiday. It was absolutely beautiful and amazing to be in the middle of so much history. The public rooms were very well preserved. The bedroom was beautiful - unlike anywhere I've ever been. I would definitely recommend it.

Make no bones about it, this is a great place for people who like old stones and a night in an historic place.....but historic places (unless they cost a fortune per night) are never as perfect as one would like, so you have to be prepared for that. This chateau has been brought back into service after decades of neglect...

Love everything about this place. I have stayed here two years in a row when visiting the World War 1 battlefields. The grounds, the chateau and the peaceful village setting are beautiful. The host is warm and welcoming and friendly. Breakfasts are lovely with fresh produce used. Something different especially for those who love places with a long interesting history,...

Continuing on our French road trip, we are now staying at various chateaus throughout the nation. Our stay at the Chateau de Couin was exiting and different. An 18th century historical property, undergoing ongoing restoration, was quite charming and different. Having read other reports I must agree with most. Yes there are some areas that need improvement, but these are...

I have never stayed in such an unusual place as chateau couin. The chateau is set in huge secluded grounds in which you are free to wander. The owners are slowly renovating the whole house in the exact style as a 18th century should be. As a consequence of this do not expect everything to be perfectly in place. Having...

I stayed in the chateau for two nights with my mother as part of a WW1 battlefields visit. With the wonderful history of Chateau de Couin we really got into the spirit. Our host Veronique was fantastic, warm, welcoming and very passionate about her Chateau and it's history. This is about as close as you can get to stepping back...
