This was apparently a working farm till 1949, and the accommodation is in what was part of the stable block. A superb conversion, half timbered barn, with a huge open plan room on the ground floor, and bedrooms on the two upper floors. Gerard and his wife Marina are very welcoming, and provide a super French breakfast but also run...

This B&B is right next to the intriguing Fosse Dionne itself and in the centre of this small town. It has its own parking. The room was furnished with antiques and very comfortable, good bathroom. Strong wifi signal. The hosts, Gilles & Bernard, were not particularly outgoing and slightly brusque. Breakfast was simple and the evening meal was excellent and...

This is our third trip to Tonnerre in 3 years. The first time as cycle tourers with another family. We used it as a stopping off point to the S of France these last two weeks and it works out great. While we like the La Ferme de la Fosse Dionne, for those who can't get accommodation, we can also...

Arrived after full day cycling to warm welcome and spotless room. Tea and coffee with kettle provided. Dinner was relaxed affair outside with wines and beers reasonable. Breakfast a little basic, coffee, juice, plain yogurt and bread basket. Spring nearby worth a visit, no real place to go for drink after dinner as small village was very quiet by 9.30pm.

If you fancy somewhere with a bit of character, then this is a good choice. Don't expect ultra-modern furnishings and 24 hour service. But the rooms are nicely done, clean, large and well looked after, with good sized bathrooms. The outside courtyard is a lovely place to sit with a drink and the famous spring is just a few yards...

This bed and breakfast has recently been upgraded and is just by an old spring pool.It is conveniently located but a lot of the buildings in the road are in desperate need of repair. As we were cycling it was good to find the hotel had a large secure shed for them to stay in overnight. The hotel has a...

As we checked out we thought: "caveat emptor" - let the buyer beware, (and perhaps also: "don't believe everything you read on Trip Advisor"). Yes, the Fosse (natural spring, located right in front) itself is amazing, (but look up and you'll see that a third of the surrounding houses have been derelict for years). Tonnerre is a town of immense...

I'd go to a lot of trouble to go back to La Ferme, and in fact to Tonnerre in general. First it has the most extraordinary location. I'd post a link, but nothing currently on the web does justice to La Fosse Dionne. It's really special, and La Ferme literally overlooks it. And Tonnerre is the same - a strange...

Our party of 2 families were cycling the Burgundy Canal and were finishing a long day with 4 kids under 12, all exhausted so we were really ready to get to the hotel, which is set in a tiny road next to the spring under the cathedral. Great facia. Great to look at. Unfortunately they lost our reservation, after confirming...

Stunning location, the house built into the foot of a steep cliff with a church looming almost overhead, at the top of scrambling climb. A stone's throw away is the ancient spring, where you can gaze down into the mouth of the cave through blue-green water. The room was more like a little flat (with kitchen facilities) and we were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Tonnerre's historic centre lies this ancient farm. It's ideally located between the beautiful church of St Pierre and the spectacular spring that is la Fosse Dionne. The farm has been entirely and sympathetically renovated and now offers quiet and comfortable guestrooms and a small shop selling regional specialities. ... more   less
