We paid €58 for a double room for one night without previously booking. Spoke some English, enough to get us booked in. We didn't opt for breaky but was offered. There is code for evening access when reception closes, which we didn't get but that didn't ruin our trip we waited for another couple to let us back in after...

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel during our trip in May. The room was not very big, bit it was very clean. The hotel as a whole was also clean and very well maintained. Although we were staying on the first floor overlooking the street, we were not disturbed either by church bells or the Saturday market. Normally, there...

After a 12 hour day travelling we finally arrived in Fougeres and looked forward to checking in at 9pm at the Balzac for our 5 night stay. We phoned as instructed (as the door was locked and was told that we were not booked in until the following night. Fortunately my son, who currently lives in Fougeres, communciated on our...

It's only 10 euros more for a triple, and we like to have a place to sit and/or place luggage. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, the streets were quiet. I would recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel on the basis of location (en-route to our ultimate destination) and other reviews. Hotel is in a great location, Saturday is market day and we had to park a little way from the hotel. Room was clean and we really enjoyed breakfast. The owners polite and friendly, we had a family room and great value for...

The hotel is at the very heart of the historical district, at walking distance to the main attractions. The room was clean and comfortable. Public parking nearby. Personnel very friendly. The price was quite good for what you get. On the down side, the breakfast - which is optional - was very disappointing and a little expensive for what you...

This was the least expensive location we stayed at during our 2 week trip to France, and it showed. We had a room for 4, which was really 2 adjacent rooms, each with their own WC but just one shower stall. Unfortunately, the toilet did not flush in the 2nd room. There were a few more critters crawling around the...

This is a small friendly hotel right in the centre of Fougères with a free public parking close by. You can walk to all main attractions, you don't need a car while in the city. The room and breakfast are good value for your money. The friendly owners are knowledgeable about the area and beyond, and offer great advice.

This hotel is easy to find and centrally situated, a little tired around the edges, but comfortable enough. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. On the minus side, we had a small triple room which we shared with our son and the extra single bed was quite uncomfortable for him. Only one of the bedside...

This hotel is lovely and central in Fougeres and our room, though a litle small had a good view of the main street. The staff were all very helpful and as someone else has said there is no parking, but the receptionist directed us to free long term parking nearby. When I asked if this was secure she replied that...

“If there are rooms not facing the street these would be a better choice if staying on a Friday night”

“We had a room at the front which overlooks the main street. There was the early morning noise of the market setting up, but to be honest, it added to the experience of being in this charming french town. The church bells mentioned on other reports can be heard from all parts within the hotel, but again, did not aversely effect our stay. They do sound a bit 'tinny' mind you.”
