Food is nice, but it is not a five course meal. Three small starters, a main and a dessert. Very nice just like the breakfast. But 700 for the dinner is well you decide. We stayed on a Thursday and the place was almost empty. We paid for a superior room and got a tiny room with single beds. Putting us in the smallest room is typical Swedish hospitality. The annex was totally empty. The common areas in the manor house are large but the furniture needs new upholstery.
We were really impressed with the atmosphere and the service. It's a lovingly, even stunningly decorated place that really celebrates glitz with a few touches of humour. Meals are prepared with real ambition, and served with great attention to detail. The crew is clearly highly committed to making everyone's stay an experience, and we think they are doing an incredible job.
Wedevåg - a small village near the town of Lindesberg - is strategically located near both the big city of Örebro, Arboga and one the highways to Gothenburg. It's more than worth the small detour (nearly none) if you're in the neighbourhood or travelling west and/or south from Stockholm. Railway connections are also available. The mansion has been transformed by the owners to a combo of well being and culinary experiences (see my separate review of the restaurant and Chef Viktor Andersson). The keyword here is "atmosphere". And atmosphere in a personal way NOT getting silly with overdone "boutique" manners. It is really very homey without being intruding on the privacy of the guests. Simple elegance are the words that springs to mind. We had a room in the old 17th century annex, which is just a few meters from the main building. Fine, newly rebuilt bathrooms, cosy and personal room, great comfy beds. It's not five stars in the traditional manner. But it certainly is of high standard with just fine service. And you will lack really nothing - at least if you're not comparing/aiming for the Ritz in Paris... or so. Greatest place to stay if you're in this area. Breakfast is table served. What a relief! Not only because of the pandemic, but also a clearly positive approach to the climate issue. No big buffet, where half of the products has to be thrown away. Beautifully presented without fuzz and with all the essentials in place. Eggs to your liking can be ordered and served a la minute. Very affordable! Very recommended!…
Despite being in a shared bath room, we really enjoyed our two-night stay in this hotel. Breakfast is amazing. And the staff was extremely kind and attentive to our needs, specially the maintenance guy who helped us preparing a cable to charge our electric car, and the lady serving breakfast and doing the checkout, who was lovely. The decor of the house has a lot of classy details and full of old items collected with great care. The lake at a 10 minute walk has a nice small beach and the scenery is beautiful. We regretted having to leave this nice place.
I had a chance to have dinner here for work reasons and I have to admit food is really great. In particular my lamb was perfectly cooked, delicious. Location is great and very friendly people. Pretty sure I will return.
Sanni and Per have made this into a most fantasist place to stay. The building and ground are so well decorated and maintained. Per cooked us a most unbelievable dinner and breakfast. The hotel is furnished in period pieces and looks and feel like a museum. Yet it has all modern conveniences. We Enjoyed out visit and would return the next time we are in the area
On a business trip with three non-Swedish colleagues, we landed here. A very nice hotel full of details and and a beautiful park. Especially the dining room is very elegant. The dinner was very tasty and breakfast nice.
We live in Sweden and like to travel around he country. Wedevags Herrgard is one of the best hotels we have seen in Sweden, because the most important thing for us is a good service and helpful personal, which is not always on top even at fancy hotels. But this weekend was perfect. We visited the Herrgard in the beginning of January and we were the only guests!!! Everything went perfect, I booked our weekend when I myself was abroad so we communicated by email. I got an answer immediately, I got all the information about the rooms and the meny for dinner. It was very convenient. When we arrived we were met by a man (one of the owners?) and a little friendly dog. When we went in saw we our names written on a board with a welcoming sign. We were led to our room and an hour later were we invited to the SPA and sauna room that we booked. Everything there was very fresh and clean, nice music was playing. We got water and fruit and could use the minibar. We got lots of towels and bathrobes. We could also borrow their bathing clothes but we had our own. Later in the evening we went down to the restaurant where we were the only guests. It was surprising that they opened the whole hotel and the kitchen and everything just for us. The dinner was perfect and they had a quite big choice of alcohol. Breakfast was also amazing. I can tell much more details about our visit but the most important thing is that we are very happy with the Herrgard and how the owners run this place. Excellent service, strongly recommended.…
